Then we will be up to 72 points from 34 games.

A minimum of 8 points clear of Scunthorpe and a minimum of 12 points ahead of Bolton.

This will also mean that anything better than relegation form will be sufficient to take us up.

Bristol Rovers, Scunthorpe and Bolton will all be really tough games, but all three will know that they are about to meet the divisions outstanding side in prime form, and will be fearing us more than we fear them,

It is not make or break time for us as there is still plenty of games left this season for us to nail an automatic promotion slot, or for us to blow it, but we are now coming in to the three most vital league games in years, and I just have a feeling that this seasons version of Sheffield United are on the cusp of three outstanding victories that effectively storm clear and emerge from the chasing pack as runaway leaders

I was thinking if we win the next 3 and scunny draw their other 2 wed be 12 points clear of both of them with 12 left to play
which is pretty near unassailable with our points per game ratio

I noticed that on 8th April Scunny v Bolton again.
The next 3 games are massive, win all 3 and I can't see us not finishing in the top 2 barring a disaster

and he keeps his dreams to himself.

but we dont have to

thats the difference

anticipation is the best bit of being a fan

weve stopped enjoying this VITAL component

to only enjoy going up when its only mathematically confirmed is like joining in a threesome with 2 girls who have just worn each other out, a bit of fun but missed a whole lot more

What I love about this weekends resukts is that it puts the pressure ALL on Scunthorpe and Bolton. They HAVE to come to Bramall Lane to try and win, and I think this will play right into our hands.

Completely agree.
But they will be up for it, so we have to make sure we are. Thankfully, I believe in this manager to make sure we are for at least one of them. If we were to be off the pace and work rate for one, he would make sure we were at it for the other.

Big two weeks, win the Scunny game and subject to other results Bolton could be looking to overtake Scunny at our game. Squeaky bum time....

No we haven't. Like many I am keeping the braggy/we are up stuff off here. That dosen't mean I'm not ecstatic anout how well we have done and are doing. just that we haven't actually achieved FUCK ALL yet.
Watch me celebrate and gob off IF we do at full time after game 46.

I didnt say we were up I said seize the day , enjoy the moment
we are top and some are sat waiting , some even praying for failure

now thats not right

enjoy being top , and 5 points ahead , these are the good days

enjoy just playing well

if , god forbid it goes pear shaped youve managed some enjoyment
cant see it with our squad , but yes it can go wrong
but waiting for failure is inviting it more than any football god myth

Cliche alert:

We've got fifteen cup finals now. Every game is important but the more we can win in the short term, the more we put pressure on our rivals, not the other way round. Play as well as we're capable of and we've got nothing to fear. Let's not go into the last game of the season needing to win to go up.

Im not waiting for failure. Im waiting for the mathematical certainty that we have finally got out of this fucking awful league and Id rather not look further than the next 90 minutes. We could lose/get players injured/sent off. It dosent mean Im not as ecstatic as you or anyone about yesterday, just not interested in anything beyond the next game.

I think it's fair to say all Blades enjoyed the day yesterday, but also all Blades know only too well what can happen and if it can happen it fkin probably will

I'm with Sean here. One game at a time. Admittedly tho, I said before yesterday these next 4 games can be defining and I think they carry great significance. It's now down to the next 3 games, but all I worry about now is Brizzle Rovers away

theres sensible caution over whats to come , take each game as it comes etc, but we as fans are allowed to enjoy the anticipation of whats ahead , especially with what we can see is a very special bunch of lads, who appear to believe they are good , good enough to be brave and bold and go for the throat

in past seasons weve HOPED they would try and perform
whats different this season is these players do go out and leave nothing on the pitch
you do lose games in a season even with a good team , but we lose then recover , even with our recent blip , we are still the best in the division over the last 10

I can see us losing a few more
but I dont see us losing 6 7 8 or 9 to collapse totally

not with this team
and really , does anyone else

I'd be content with 4 points, 3 if it were 3 draws, any more than that:

We have Rochdale, Oxford and Millwall after the next three . If we are still clear at the top after those I will start to dream,

Tired of reading all this 'one game at a time' shite. Don't worry, that's exactly how Wilder and the team will be taking it. What we discuss on a forum doesn't make a difference.

If we do win the next 3 games, we will be as good as up. It really is quite a prospect. And a possibility.

It would be nice if the home support could wake up and push the team on because now is the time we could really cement our position at the top. We are absolutely in the thick of it now and the home support should reflect that.

Exactly this. If we play to our potential then nobody, I repeat NOBODY in this division can handle us. We need to be on top form to beat scunny and bolton, but if we do then we've ALMOST got one foot in the championship. No room for complacency, but it's ok to dream :)

Now whats that song called?
Oh I know:
"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"
That's my philosophy.

If I was not an atheist I would be praying every night that Moore does not get injured, I am coming to the conclusion only the appearence of George Long between the sticks can scupper us.

In fact The Scunny or Bolton manager may be taking their big centre forward or big centre Half to one side and asking him to put in "a robust challenge" on Moore at some point, it's something I would certainly not put past Parkinson to be thinking of.

the main thing about us supporting the team at home is we need to believe,

sing we are going up
sing we are top of the league
ramp up the pressure on the opposition

not sat in our seats worrying if we will fuck up again , if we are quiet
they will take advantage of us as they can smell the fear

lets do our bit and be as positive as the players are being
7 home games to make some noise and party

My biggest concern is injuries, something you hope doesn't happen but it is beyond your control, I really cannot see a dramatic loss of form, we were one of the best before the January window and have probably had the best window of any of our rivals, when you watch us play the confidence is high, they all know they and there team mates are playing well and the bench is full of talent, I like everyone else will not start talking billy big bollocks, but, other than injuries we have every reason to feel we will win the league, I suppose every team in our position over the years has fans feeling the same, well I am ferkin loving it.

Good that Bristol Rovers are being grouped in with the other 2 in this vital sequence of games coming up. Because they've got a very good home record - 6th best in the division, & no-one's scored more than them at home bar Scunthorpe. Really tough place to go.

But Scunthorpe & Bolton are proper "statement time" games. We can't afford to wilt like a limp lettuce leaf like we did against Fleetwood. Pressure.
