We had a bad start because the team were not up to speed in what a new manager wanted. We've now had a run of bad results. Rumours start. It happens in football, all the time. There ain't no big thing.

We'll be having 'lost the dressing room" next.

Not Oak Island!

Aye and they'd have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for that meddling seanbeenstattoo

OK, if it's not a disruptive player, and it's not the wages, then I'm a bit stumped. What "disruptive thing" might have happened in the first four games of the season, that also happened recently, but didn't happen in the rest of the season?

A few wild stabs, all highly unlikely, except possibly 4):

1) The Prince has his favourites, and has been insisting on having a say in team tactics or selection - and threatening to disinvest if his demands aren't met (very unlikely)

2) McCabe has been showing up in the dressing room to give impromptu team talks that do more harm than good (highly unlikely)

3) Wilder is suffering from some form of recurring ailment or illness that prevents him from being fully "on the ball" in the dressing room (very unlikely - even if it were the case Knill is more than capable)

4) Someone in the first team is screwing someone else's wife - it was supposedly sorted out early in the season, but recently it was discovered that it's still going on.

Any of these close?

There's an interesting article here about why Wilder didn't go to Charlton:

"Charlton Athletic cancelled Chris Wilder’s contract because the ex-Northampton boss wanted written assurances over the way they are run."

is it that for the last few matches and during the first matches of the season we haven't had the now traditional match day minute applause / silence / phone light display?

Is it to do with Horrorscopes? Does one player have an irrational fear of them?

"Taurus - you will have a shit day today, only your defender will score and you will leak three easy goals and a penalty"

As alluded to in my previous post, these things should remain confidential. What happens in the back of the Range Rover stays in the back of the Range Rover. :);):D

After 4 matches the Izal in the dressing room bogs was replaced by Andrex. Unfortunately, signing new players, along with the continuing deficit caused by the Desso pitch, has left the club short of funds so at the beginning of the year McCabe ordered a year's supply of the cheaper shiny hard stuff again. All the players now have sore arses, just as they did at the beginning of the season, and their form has dropped off as a consequence.

McCabe out.

"These things" should indeed remain confidential if it's personal stuff unrelated to football as suggested in my post. However, if it's something like the owners interfering in team affairs we have every right to talk about it.

I'm going to presume that the rumour relates to some personal stuff going on behind the scenes, and leave it there. Its not unheard of in workplaces, and we don't need to know the details of who is allegedly involved. If they are professionals it shouldn't affect the team's performance in any way. If employees aren't getting along it's up to the management to sort it out.

Who knows? I don't and I suspect SBT doesn't know why he posted it either.

If its a fallout between Wilder and Lavery, I wouldn't be surprised. I've personally witnessed him endlessly targetting instructions at him from the bench about where to be positioned when out of possession - and to work harder. He seemed to respond negatively to this once and was hooked off and then dropped. Wilder doesn't suffer fools gladly

Nor should he. The odd thing is Clough didn't either, yet when he 'fell out' with players, the fans (with all the wisdom of knowing fuck all about the circumstances) decided it was his fault...

I agree with this. The manager should never be questioned by a player, especially publically. The board likewise shouldn't publically criticise. It just erodes the manager's authority and you end up with player delegations running the club. Clough told everyone why Collins was dropped: he was playing too deep and ignoring instructions (undermining him). I'd have sent him to Siberia too.

Quite right. Whenever a team is struggling, you hear a manager has "lost the dressing room". My immediate thought is not to blame the manager (except Blackwell of course) but "who do these useless overpaid fuckers who have got their club to the bottom of the league think they are..."

iMO it would be unusual if all the squad got along with each other all the time

Team mates have been known to dislike eac other and still play together for the good of the team

Human nature being what it is, most players are competitive and make their career and ambition a priority over and above team unity

A good manager deals with this but sometimes petty differences come to the fore

I have no idea if there is a problem within the squad, but if there is, I'm sure that Wilder will sort things out.

Just seen Steve Simmonsen filling his car up at the petrol station just off Meadowhall bus station.
