Murray's show was crap in my view but each to his own mate. Mike Parry's been there since the start of Talksport and I've always liked him but there you go.
Colin murrays show had record listening figures

Looking to bring two or three in but doesn't want to upset the balance.

Both owners have backed him and he expects them to do so if we go up.

Talked about the competitive element of the game and the need to have players who run about and win the ball for you. All the top teams do this stuff very well, always have.

I've put it on for the first time ever to wait for Wilder.

Is it always this shit?

Haven't listened to it since Ceasar the Geezer and Tommy Boyd's Human Zoo were on it. I once managed to call Mick Hucknall "a fucking cunt" on James Whale's show before they cut me off.

Think he said or implied that the players he was looking to bring in were from L1 or lower leagues. Did I hear that right?

Just listened to this talsport interview, he sounds such a likeable level headed bloke. Interesting how he mentioned getting the team to "runabout" and "runaround" as a pre requisite for winning, I presume he means pressing and challenging the opposition at the right times. Also the bit about "trying to bring a couple more in".

I thought it was very telling his heart is with sufc the way at full time against southend in front of our fans he kept thumping the sufc badge on his coat like someone who really means it, which he does of course.
Massive LOLZ.

These are the questions asked with Wilders answers.

Q: Why are things going so well?
CW: Brought it back to basics, it's a fantastic club, a proper football club, recruited well and living in the city and being a supporter I have an idea about what the supporters want.

Q: You had a bad start not winning any of the first 4 matches so how did you turn things around.
CW: Changed the system and brought in some new players, Simon Moore and Ebanks-Landell etc. Also mentioned that we had some luck with a last minute penalty away at Gillingham and that's proven to be a turning point. He also mentioned that unlike some managers he doesn't put emphasis on fancy tactics, said he's old fashioned and is a big believer in players working really hard.

Q: What do you think about Hull City appointing a foreign manager when surely you or Gary Rowett should be given a chance in the PL.
CW: Agreed but said you see home based managers Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche giving him motivation proving there is hope for English managers.

Q: Dean Saunders said he KNEW CW would be the right man for the SU job and he asked what the plan was if and when promotion is obtained.
CW: You only have to look at the ground, training facilities and fan base to realise this club can go all the way to the PL, so he would hope the directors, who he said have been brilliant so far, feel the same and back him accordingly.

Q: The league look tight at the top so what business has he done in the JTW.
CW: Bought Samir Carruthers and we're hoping to bring in 2 more but he doesn't want to upset the team spirit. Also said that as we are top of the league and an heavyweight at this level (he mentioned we had over 50,000 watching our 2 Xmas games) said we are an attractive proposition for potential targets.

Poor Pinchy will be ditching his bezzie mate Tufty then?

He's always telling us how we need more fine technicians of the game and fewer 'get stuck ins' and 'runarounds'.

He'll have a thrombie if he listens.

The M word

Don't worry mate ....... it was a simple mistake ..... easy to make if your not too familiar with football ...... he's thinking Sheffield and imagining the scum from South Barnsley !! o_O

Clearly we're a big Club but the Pig scum are a MASSIVE Club of course o_O:rolleyes:;)

We wouldn't want it any other way would we ....... :D

I didn't hear that. He said he'd signed Carruthers 'from the same league as us' which seemed to imply the others might not be but that's all I heard.

Agree with Bushblade, he didn't give any clue to the playing level of our targets.
Just said we are looking to bring in 2 more players.
Assume 1 is the full back/ winger Joe Riley on loan and so means just 1 other.

The interesting thing he said for me was that he seemed to have a dislike of tactics and mentioned the
massive importance of players simply working hard. Suspect it's Alan Knill that loves the tactics side of the game.

Could be some similarities to the Brian Clough/ Peter Taylor set up.
In several interviews ex Forest players have commented that Clough surprisingly had little interest in tactics.
He always wanted to keep things really simple.

We are all quick to critisise Mccabe for ballsing up nearly everything to do with the club, but i think appointing Tufty has been his best decision by far. The fact that Tufty is being backed by the board (unlike madkins etc) indicates that the board also feel weve finally got the right guy, he has the spirit, the passion, them playing some sexy football and tactical knowhow. Just saying, for once....well done Mccabe forthis appointment ! Now give us our ground back, then after a promotion or 2 we MIGHT forgive you for putting us all through it. Once again, i can say, iam proud to be a blade ! UTB

I thought he was saying some people get too focussed on tactics and forget about the basics like hard work and competitiveness.
I think Weir may have been that way.

Now give us our ground back,
All owners own the ground .we didnt own it undr Wragg we didnt own it under Brearly .the owners own it just now it belongs to mccabe , until someone buys it off him . Its not a difficult concept to understand how so many dont get it is baffling

Alan Brazil has also been fired.
They even joke about his heavy night before drinking sessions meaning he's has to ring in sick.

But his shows used to be funny. Not so much since Beaky left. Met him and Parry at Cheltenham races, AB was sound, Parry said to my mate, bloody hell, I thought I was ugly. Mate said don't worry about it, you are. Off went Parry in a huff. His current show is virtually unlistenable.

Regards our prospective targets

It wouldn't surprise me if Wilder gives them the "attitude" test.
If an agent and player is an out an out mercenary, simply motivated by money then I reckon CW cools his interest in that player.

I believe Wilder makes offers for several players at the same time and waits to see which one of the keenest to join us with their reasons why. Personality and team spirit is so important.

It's always been his, no matter where the freehold is parked. As you say, it's not Chartered Surveyor Science.

Sick of hearing this massive club shite.

We're not a massive club. Wednesday are not a massive club. Newcastle are not a massive club.

Manchester United are a massive club.

It was only Jim White that called us "massive" several times. But he calls most clubs "massive".
It was only last week he called Bradford City massive and the week before he called Charlton massive.
Dean Saunders called us a "big" club, which is more accurate.

Although I suppose by league 1 standards we are massive.
