Can we stop with the chringeworthy chant?

And that "Ally Ally ally O" rubbish. Sounds like a dying animal moaning.

On the other hand, it's been undeniably good to hear occasional renditions of "swinging a pig" over the festive season ...

Best ones for me are
"Swinging a pig",
"Take my hand" and
"Glory glory Sheff United"
None of those have been used nearly as much as they should have over the past few years.

Agree with that, word for word. "Wings of a sparrow" makes me smile too.

The other one I really don't like is "No pig fans in town": only because of the Jack Charlton line. You can't sing THAT about a man who won the World Cup for England ! Sorry.

And that stupid Boxing day song where people are effectively singing about Piggy glory.
I see your point, boo, but i think of it as more of a rallying cry. Almost like 'you may have won that battle but you will not win the war, and we will fight on.' (...wearing my red and white tinted glasses of course).

"Sheffield Wednesday, we're coming for you"

Gotta be the worst we've ever come up with. And we say they're obsessed with us

Gives them a feeling of importance I suppose when we sing that particular chant. Best not to sing anything unless it's the " Sheffield We*****ay f****d it up again ". Now that chant seems to actually lift the crowd.

Perhaps we should abandon the ridiculous "don't sing other clubs songs" when in fact they are recycled all over the land.

It would also help if we had half a dozen or so who can actually hold a tune.

That would be Coutts, Fleck, Duffy because they are "proper singers". Oh and of course our top 10er Billy.

Actually now I think about it, although he is making progress Coutts is still a bit of a Falsetto ;).

How do you interpret "and WE will fight for ever more because of boxing day".
Is it "we" as in blades fans will fight with anyone and everyone or we as in United and Wednesday will fight each other?

I understand it as "We'll fight forever more" to avenge that terrible day in our history.

A bit like when Churchill said -
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender

Whole heartedly agree with the OP. Full on cringeworthy, same as the Boxing Day song. I'd like to add another to that list.......

The one we obviously copied off Arsenal that went viral...

What do ya think of Wednesday
Shit
What do ya think of shit
Wednesday
Thank you
That's oright
We hate Wednesday.....and so on.

What's cringeworthy most about it is that part of it is chanted in a cockney accent.

Stop it. Just stop it.

It does wind the piggy bastards up though. Keep it for me!

It doesn't wind them up. It winds me up when they take the piss out of us for singing it.

All the snorters I know get their scratchings in a twist about it so I kind of like it, I agree it is awful but hopefully its all a bit of banter and people don't sing it seriously.

Can't stand it...cringeworthy,small time,plastic and much more.
Don't mind Hark now hear,as we've always sung it since that day,and Wendy like to think we nicked it off them, but it's the other way around..no surprise there.

Why are we coming for Sheffield Wednesday anyway? I'd have thought our ambition goes far beyond the mediocrity that they have provided in the last 20 years

Or maybe some of us are getting too old to remember the shite we sang in our misspent yoof?
Shite!!? Never!!! I sung some r8 songs

"We've got bobby booker... he's a dirty....". Classic

"Brian Deane n Tony Agana......" genius
