When we beat Peterborough to Win Div 4

View attachment 21740 View attachment 21741

The colour photo is not far off the view that I had of the Peterborough match. I was in the John Street Stand at the Kop end. Can still vividly remember the sight of loads of Blades scaling the fences on the Kop and John Street terrace before the end of the game in readiness for the pitch invasion. Great day.

It's been said before but official gate of 23,923? Behave yourselves; there are at least 23,000 visible in that colour photo alone...

What a tax dodge day that was pal. I say over 30,000 that day easily

The used to have strippers on a Saturday dinner time, entry was 5p. It was packed with Unitedites till 2.45pm. Bert remembers it well.
I was a regular Saturday dinner
Thursday,Friday, Saturday nights it was madness in there them out of town women were game.

Virtually lived there ,day and night ,Millhouses park and Hutcliffe wood was our territory :)
We used to get the No. 17 or 24 bus from London Rd to Millhouses, for the princely sum of 2p.
Otherwise, we'd walk up Sharrow Ln to Endcliffe Park.

Our meeting point was the carpet steps at the bottom of Woodseats ,but Millhouses Park was always an option. Hardest game of spot ever is on the top field at Millhouses ,too high you are on the train tracks ,not hard enough you are in the river ,definitely sorted the boys from the boys :)
