Brave signing. He's the right age and if he has ambition he couldn't wish for a better manager and mentor than Wilder. Hope his undoubted talent flourishes to our benefit. Can't believe this. What a start to the transfer window. Not just some young player on loan from somewhere, but a quality young top L1 player with Championship level ability on a permanent deal from divisional rivals.

Signing him this quickly despite the amount of other midfielders we've been linked with tells me he was probably our top target - and it's not like us to sign one of those!

We've signed him at a great time. Age wise, and it seems mentality wise as well - according to the MK Dons kitman anyway.

My only doubt with him was his character but if Wilder and his staff don't think it's a problem that's good enough for me, they have far more access to such info about him than I do.

He'll add real quality and competition in every area of our midfield - he can play anywhere. Deep, advanced and even wide. He has many of the same strengths Coutts, Fleck and Duffy have.

It's sweet that we've screwed Karl Robinson over. We've come out of the McFadzean saga on top in every way. If you told me at the time we were after McFadzean that we'd soon sign Carruthers then I wouldn't have believed you because he's far more of a coup.

Another MF might not have been a priority signing in some people's eyes but we have got one of the better players who is proven at this level and has played higher. Mmm. One is a 5th rate never will be with a generally slack attitude who has been out on loan at Bradford and been spectacular in his mediocrity and at Division 4 Portsmouth who haven't seemingly even enquired as to his further availability.

The other is a rated young talent who fucked up on one occaision.
