We haven't even spent the fucking brass from Adams and Brayford slinging their hooks.

There is no way those at the Lane would spend this if we got it

we are trying to spend
just baulking at over inflated pricing , quite rightly too
you wouldnt pay 28000 for a new mini would you

Would I fuck but I'd pay the going rate
but we are being asked to pay above it
CW knows the market , he had to haggle for every player hes ever got
if he says we are being over charged ,, I expect hes telling the truth

we arent like man utd we cant pay 50 m over what Pogbas really worth because we can

but whos income are we going to triple these days
no one good enough to ensure promotion has so far been brought in

But what we have seem determined to drag us to the bottom of the Division ........

Quality, not quantity ...... is the lesson that we should have learned time and time again. Regrettably, our Board know f**k all about football and demonstrate that with alarming regularity !!

UTB & FTP

So your overriding objective is to have a squad of value for money players who enjoy playing out their entire careers in front of 10,000 in L1 at the Lane.
Get fucking real.
Maybe you are stuck in a time warp somewhere between the 60s and the 70s with Dick Wragg.

But it's the 'value for money' players that do the job for all the tin-pot teams that end up above us and whose success we want to emulate.
Wilder has done it once, just have to hope he can pull together another group where the whole is worth more than the parts o_O

where on earth did I put that
We get good gates , but its a reality across football attendances dont win you games
thats why newcastle 55000 gates didnt save them from relegation
on the assumption attendances help you why are Portsmouth still in league 2
Barnsley got out and didnt spend a fortune , just canny buys

you get fucking real
only assembling a squad that works as a team will get us out , and that takes longer than 4 games
most of the teams above us which just now is all of them , havent spent more than us

No point CW having targets which he feels he can mould into a cohesive team if he is going to keep missing out on them for the sake of spending a little more than he'd planned , especially when we've sold Che, offloaded Beards wages and halved the size of the squad from its peak of 46 in January. False economy.

1.7 mill for che:confused: stupid business and if this happens 1.05 mill for harry that's 2.75Mil, plus massive savings on wages. We could put a reyt side together out of that but we won't :(

Could only spend 1.65m of that lot though because of FFP in league 1 at 60%. Only way round it is if an owner makes a "donation of personal wealth" to the club.

There are ways to get around FFP if it wanted to be achieved but, even 1.65m would be enough to significantly strengthen the spine of the team and add a bit of much needed pace. I know full well though that nowhere near another 1.65m will get spent this window

I have to agree with you, the team could be significantly strengthened with some pace, no doubt about it.

I often wonder if we all look at this backwards though - consider the key players we have sold in recent years: Maguire, Murphy, Adams. They have all been sold for around the same price, I don't know the exact figures, but the cost to keep these 3 players would take up a large percentage of our FFP. If we say (hypothetically) that these 3 players took 1.5m to 2m quid per year to keep between them, that could account for 20-35% of the wage bill. That could be suicidal if promotion is not gained considering that the club makes around a 4m quid loss every season without these players.

Of course there are the cup runs which can affect the turnover and as we both say, other ways to increase the turnover to boost our FFP, but having a squad of 25 players its easy to see why we wouldn't keep these 3 mentioned players - especially considering the dross we have bought on big wages that CW is having to either pay up or move on.

Imo, we are in a bit of a pickle and have been so for the past three years. This season, whoever the manager is, will not make promotion this season. What we should be aiming for, is a strong midfield that can spread it to the wings quickly or centre midfield to drive us forward. Although I dislike the style of play, I would love to see a Mark Patterson harassing the opposition and sticking it to them!

Wilder: I do not want every ball that we get possession of to be hit towards Clarke, with nobody fast enough to latch on to his flick on. In Wilder we trust but I honestly believe that I could stick a rocket up the arses of the big money journey men. Sorry Couts and Billy. I think you have had enough suckling on the cash cow. cohttps://www.cesarsway.com/dog-psychology/pack-position/5-keys-to-handling-a-dominant-dog!

The 3 players you mention Maguire wanted to go and if what I heard is true he forced the move fair enough let him go not sure on his wages but this is the underlying problem he wasn't replaced with anything near his quality or with potential to become as good. Murphy as above regarding wanting the move fair enough move him on. We still haven't got a winger on the books who is anywhere near the quality of Murphy or has the potential to become as good (Chapman belongs to Boro). Was his replacement already here (Woolford) I'm not sure but if thats true it's lunacy. Adams now it's not the sale I'm against as it was supposed to be to strengthen the squad. It's the paltry sum received 1.7 chuffing Mil absolutely terrible business should have got at least double that. As above and even more so with this one because it removed what little pace and potential we had in the squad, not a single outfield player in never mind a replacement as good or with potential to be as good. God this pattern is familiar I wondered why we're bottom of League 1 it's there plain as day, sell talent don't replace with anything at all, or any dross will do it fills a shirt it's cheap it's in. It's not selling players that's the problem all clubs do it, It's what happens after the sale that's killing this club. If we we're going for promotion then this last week we would have seen in comings no doubt about it, it's glaringly obvious from the stands never mind the dugout we need at least 4 new players in RCB CM LW CF the latter two with pace, but I don't think the lack of transfer has anything to do with the man in the dugout.

Put the champagne back on ice Kev, they've just signed Calum Chambers on loan from Arsenal.

based on...................?

ITK.

Joking – Sky mentioned it ahead of the Hull-Everton match. A quick search suggests that Middlesbrough have had a Dan Burn-esque level of interest – nearly signed in August, linked again in November, and linked again now.

He signed a new contract recently at Hull so that's good news - it'll still take a good fee from Middlesbrough. The sell on clause could be very useful to us but no doubt if it does happen it'll be in the last minute of deadline day.

Are you sure he's signed a new contract, I've been told by someone very close to him that he's quite happy to see his contract run down.

Club had an option if an additional year, which they've triggered and did the same for several other players - sensible contract management IMO.
