These are the games that promotion campaigns are made of. I thought it was a good game today. Northampton will feel unlucky, maybe if they had been more ambitious in the second half they could have won it. It didn't quite work for Duffy and Fleck today, and the final ball in the middle was poor. It didn't matter when Freeman banged it home for the winner. That and the Northampton fans' ovation to Wilder got me feeling emotional at the end!

Don't think that's fair to them early on. I mean, largely they were playing on the break but they still got forward and nearly caught us out in the first half.

Indeed – had EEL not taken their player out on the halfway line after JOC lost possession I suspect we'd have fallen behind.

Sort if like how we couldn't score against Oldham until he came on, only the complete opposite of that.

Did he score against Oldham? It was a cracking opening goal from Sharp I believe.

Lavery is deserving of a start at Bury but with the best will in the world I don't think he is 15 goal striker from now until the end of the season.

I don't believe it's realistic to expect signing a striker that is going to do that anyway, Sharp has 1 more and is our talisman, and the best striker in this league without a doubt. We aren't going to get someone better than him. I'd be happy with a striker getting 8 goals 2/3 assists and also working hard. I do think Lavery can be that player.

What part did Clarke have in Sharps opener against Oldham?

Well other than the position of the defenders due to his presence, I couldn't tell you. But he had a big hand in the second which it would be remiss of us to ignore.

My point is you can't blame him for everything that was wrong about today and point out that we were drawing when he left the pitch and then ignore the fact that the reverse was true in the previous game.

so we scored late on

bet you dont see wednesday fans moaning , theyve got out of jail again in injury time
theyll see it as a positive

perhaps we should

doubt if bolton fans will bemoan winning with an injury time goal

29 points away from the fourth from bottom . Objective 1 : achieved .

Watching the Blades is almost too much fun. Yet again a team came to the Lane, competed for a bit, were gradually pushed back, lost their ambition, wasted time, parked the bus and, ultimately, lost. I can't stop smiling after every match.

Has anyone mentioned Simon Moore's great save from that free kick yet? It was definitely going into the top corner and would have given the Cobblers a totally undeserved lead, but this Blades side doesn't just play great football which wears inferior teams down, it defends well and has a top class goalie as well.

It's like being in love, only better!

I thought it was a good, enjoyable game today in which Northampton played it's part.Yes they eventually ran out of steam mainly due to the fact that our players just kept going and going. It's called never say die.
More than happy that we go into the New Year top of the Division and, despite the odd upset we will gain automatic promotion;mark my words.
Oh and congratulations to our esteemed Manager CW on being Manager of 2016 and giving all us Blades hope and the glory days once more.

PS No I haven't started on the alcohol just yet. Will be soon though.
