It's truly amazing the effect that can be had on a players fortunes when the are partnered effectively . Sharp plays alongside Done and he's the leagues highest scorer .
long may it continue .
Indeed, O'Grady was exactly what we needed at that time and we never really recovered that season from his return to Brighton. Someone that didn't score very many goals himself but his role alongside those around him helped the team as a whole score more – which sounds very current. Funnily enough one of the founding members of the Chris O'Grady fan club was none other than Pinchy himself as I recall...
T'is true. The difference is that COG is a better footballer in every facet of the game than old Runaround. He's quicker, has better control, holds the ball up, infinitely better in the air and has 85 league goals to his credit compared to Runaround's .... wait for it .... 26.
So do I, especially the last bit. What's your missus' reaction, mine elbows me in the ribs? Hurts like fuck when she catches me unawares.
His last three without Runaround on the pitch. Thanks for a classic example of a non-sequitur. It ought to be utilised in schools.
Are you " Brian the Blade " that calls Praise or Grumble on Radio Sheffield ? You appear very similar in style and outlook .
That's a serious question .
It's a very silly question. The guy is a complete buffoon. I disagree with just about everything he says when I here him. That's very rare though, I don't bother much with Radio Amateur Hack.
If I've offended you in any way Pinchy please accept my unreserved apology . Offence was never my intention .
I was actually , rather unsuccessfully as it's turned out , attempting to pay you a sincere compliment . I just feel that you , like Brian , exhibit Real tenacity whilst defending your views despite finding an overwhelming majority diametrically opposed to said views . To be fair to you though , Brian does at times come across as a bit of a plonker . Many is the time when he's very clearly wrong , simply cannot see he's clearly wrong , and carries on regardless .
COG certainly is the better footballer – has better ball-control, aerial ability, and hold-up play, but I didn't think any of these non-scoring traits were that important in your world? 0 goals in 19 starts this season is giving Done a run(around) for his non-goalscoring money. The last time COG scored more than Done's current total in a season, Done hadn't even played a single match in his career up front.
But as you bring up the number of goals the two players have scored, how about we look at COG vs Done's for when they've both actually been played as strikers – it seems only fair. Done played his first game as a striker in August 2014, so let's give him all his Rochdale league starts and goals for 2014/15 (23 starts, 10 goals) plus those for us in 2014/15 (12 starts, 7 goals), and add to it this season's (minus the first four games of course – 15 starts, 2 goals). Now, last season's tricky to separate out given Done was a wing-back for the second half of the season, but what the hell Pinchy I'm feeling generous – we'll add all his league games in from last season regardless of where he played (25 starts, 4 goals).
So bearing in mind this is likely an underestimate, Done's career as a striker has seen him score 23 in 75 league games. COG has scored 88 in 333 league games, 0.26 goals per game compared to Done's 0.31.
They're completely different players, contributing to their respective team differently, but as you seemed to think COG's career goal total important I thought you might like to give Done's career goal total some fair reading.
That list can't be correct. Mr Evans isn't on there and apparantly he is the best striker in this league according to some on hereAll i can say is the rest of the leagues strikers must be shit if our Billy is past his bestlooking at the list below, i cant believe some people moaning about the
lad who is doing the business on the pitch, yeah he is 30 years old but Ibrahimovic is 35 and still playing and knocking the goals in at a lot higher level, another
thought about his previous spells here, he was played in a system that obviously did,nt suit him, a bit like Ched how many managers did we go through before
Wilson got him playing to his full potential
