I know this is not about a specific player but i saw an article in the Star earlier from James Shield about Wilder wanting a new winger. Wilder said: “We’re looking at that position because, with Harry being out, that’s an area where we’re a little bit light. There’s only really (Mark) Duffy who can go and be an out and out wide player which is something we’re mindful of. “Obviously we’ve got a few targets because, if possible, it’s a situation we want to try and sort out.”

So it looks like a new winger is Wilder's number one priority in this transfer window, probably someone that can play on both sides and in the centre as well similarly to Duffy, the one player that stands out to me as a quite obvious target is Ricky Holmes from Charlton. Played under Wilder last season at Northampton and was a stand out player and scored some quality goals with both feet so he seems to be very two footed. He seems to be unsettled at Charlton since he signed for them in the summer and hasn't really shone for them, maybe a move to us would suit him and us because it looks like from what he did last season Wilder can get the very best out of him and when hes playing well he is quality and would bring many more goals into midfield. P.s. you have to look his goals up on youtube they are world class finishes some of them.

Also i saw something in an article about Reece Brown's contract expiring next month and will leave the club if he is not offered a new one (he's awful anyway) so he is likely to be replaced i should think. I know someone has already done a thread on him but Conor McLaughlin is surely someone we will be after, he is looking to leave Fleetwood in this window and is proven at club and international level.

I thought we were all boycotting anything written by the 'pig loving' Star? And James Shield is as evil as Hitler?

I hope we let Reece Brown go. Don't rate him at all.
Not sure about this Aussie striker trialist.
Agree we need pace out wide.

I suspect the "other position" to be recruited that CW referred to in his interview is RB/RWB due to a combination on Brown not impressing adn stories of Freeman's face not fitting

That would certainly tie-in with the Conor McGlaughlin rumours.

Apologies if already posted. Looks like it's a middy and a winger CW is chasing, with Lafferty close to extending

Wilder says he's ready to strike when the transfer window opens. Midfielder & wide player top of the list. Lafferty close to extending...

Hopefully 'wide player' means wing back, because it would seem unnecessary to sign a midfielder and a winger, when we could get one player to cover both positions - unless the midfielder is one to cover Coutts/Fleck rather than Duffy.

Not heard about freemans face not fitting in, is this true?

It's a winger he's after - if we need to switch to 4-4-2 or 3-4-3 we don't have an out and out winger apart from Duff.

Plus another centre midfielder with a bit of mobility.

No sign of 'the best striker we've ever had' returning as many predicted.

Midfielder rumoured to be Anthony Wordsworth. Big lad, scores goals, proper footballer. Never played for nor supported us though so won't be popular in here.

Gerrimin! Gerriminnah! Tellimeesnotavincouttsysplacetho!

I will second Boxer Blade 's question to Mouth of the South . If Freeman's face doesn't fit then it certainly isn't showing on the pitch. He's been one of the best players so far.

Seems a strange one?

The boy Wordsworth ... Sheer poetry when he's on form, but I'm told his positional sense is poor - apt to go wandering, lonely as a fucking cloud.

I was as surprised as anyone to hear the rumours and they may well be bollocks but it was interesting that CW deliberately avoided stating the other position he's looking to recruit to.

Personally I don't think Freeman is too bad although I think he may struggle above L1. I would prefer quicker, more powerful players than Freeman and particularly Lafferty as wing backs if CW plans to stick with 3-5-2. Ariyibi would certainly be an upgrade on Freeman if the budget would allow.

Cheers for the reply :)

I agree about him stepping up to the Championship but think he has been consistently good so far and seems to be playing with a smile on his face. He looks absolutely overjoyed when we score, usually more than the scorer, so on that basis appears to be enjoying himself.

Not doubting what you have heard by the way mate, like I say it just seems at odds with what we are seeing on the pitch. I did wonder if this is some kind of overspill from the Che and Sparky days, I have posted on here before that I saw Freeman out and about with those two fairly often. Maybe he just doesn't get on with the other lads as much but again that seems unlikely in a team with such a seemingly good spirit and togetherness?

In any case if an upgrade is available and affordable way should always look to buy. Chris will sort it either way.

This news about Lafferty intrigues me. When he signed it was on a season long loan so I suspect "extending" mean a permanent contract

When I did the view from Charlton earlier this season they were raving about Holmes and saying he was their best player. I'll be amazed if we get him.

Robinson has 5 players injured, one being Holmes and Novak. He says he's waiting for them all to be fit and those along with 3 or 4 he intends to sign in Jan will make them a different proposition

Knowing Robinson anyway, does anyone actually think he would allow Holmes to join us, cos I don't

Seeing as though it's being widely reported that Charlton will be getting £10m for Lookman very early in the window, I can't see them selling anyone they don't want to.

Charlton at home will be a bloody hard game now, which makes it all the more galling that we threw away a victory at their place.

I think they will still be more scared of us than the other way round. It's like the Southend game, we have nothing to fear.

Both players are from same club who we are after. Fact

Our league and from a team most people hate
