Claiming responsibility for failing to provide that crucial final ball and I believe fans said Hussey was at fault for a goal also

And yet Chris Basham gets a game every week.....
That's because he's a really good utility man at third division level. And yet Chris Basham gets a game every week.....
That's because he's a really good utility man at third division level.
He's more than competent (with some limitations) in three positions. We have no other player who can do that. That's worth a lot in a small squad.
And just sticking to the facts, he's been part of the very impressive run we've had. Why change it?

And he's ineffective in all positions.
Challenges are piss-weak or mis-timed, positional sense is poor, slows down any forward momentum and his ability to find a man is 50/50 at best. A lot of goals we've conceded this season can be directly traced to his mistakes.
Hussey is an interesting footballer really - and not sure what to think, but here goes.
As part of the initial team at the start of the season, the defence which included him, Brayford, Wilson and JOC was absolutely dire - and no surprise we were bottom of the league out of the league cup to Crewe.
I saw his 30 minute cameo at Fleetwood - when in effect we played wing backs (Freeman and him) and only ELL and JOC at the back and his crossing was very much like yesterday at Bolton. Both then and yesterday (we were quite close to the action behind the goal) he seems to know where he wants to put the ball and then watches the ball intently on to his foot. This probably explains his excellent contact with the ball when delivering. Problem is - as he's taken his eye off where it is going, the crosses at times seem a bit aimless - or perhaps our forwards are all too static. To throw Freeman in to the mix as the other wing back - he constantly gets behind defences and isn't frightened of taking someone on - where as with Hussey, there doesn't appear much confidence in wanting to beat a player - it's just to deliver a cross, even if it's crap or not the right ball.
Don't really know where Hussey goes really - perhaps he is just an average L1 footballer - sadly we need 6/7 or 8 players of Champ quality to finish top 2 and he doesn't really fit into one of those - unless there is a dramatic improvement.
Perhaps the lad needs a run of games as a wingback, as against the awful first few games as a LB.
I personally set a better all round player with Lafferty - and yes, he should have buried that chance V Walsall as he did v Shrewsbury away.......does anyone see Hussey in that type of position to miss?
That Fleetwood game you talk about, didn't he cross for the equaliser?
It's Lafferty's shirt to lose and that probably is even the case if Lafferty has a few off games.

To be fair, in almost every game you see, especially England games, there are more over-hit free kicks, corners and crosses than ever before.Hussey was Wilder's first signing I think.
He was signed for his crossing ability and his dead ball prowess. He has had a poor start but these are occasions that a man needs help - from, his colleagues, his management team, his family - and just as much as anybody the fans.
The lad can cross a ball, he's just anxious. Of all the new signings he was the most nervous in his initial interview, FFS give the lad a break at every opportunity, particularly during games. Boy do we need a left wing back.
He's just overhitting his crosses, it's nerves/ adrenalin, whatever it is that's produced when you're anxious and trying too hard at the same time.
It's us fans who lose out if he's a flop on a 2 year contract.
You are one seriously fucked up individual. And yet Chris Basham gets a game every week.....
You are one seriously fucked up individual.
Is it only me who thinks Bob Harris would've been great to play in a team, the way in which we set up now?I think they bring different things to the table. Lafferty is more inclined to get in the box (although he has missed a couple where he probably should have scored). Hussey is more of a provider. You can maybe put some of yesterday down to rustiness? He's barely played since Lafferty arrived.
Lafferty better defensively, which probably gets him the nod.
What's Bob Harris doing these days?![]()

I think he'd have got double figure assists and chipped in with not far off double figure goals too. His crossing is better than the two players we have playing in that position put together.
Shame he can't stay fit!
Would it have helped at all if someone made attacking runs into the box to get to his crosses? I didn't notice many, if any.
That Fleewood game you talk about, didn't he cross for the equaliser?
2 assists in 7 league games is good.
You are indeed correct which is why I posted in another thread that our forwards are a problem.
I think they are static in the box - don't work as a team - ie: one front, one drop off.
It is rare to see any hit the near post - but it happened once v Bolton - Billy crossed from where the Blades were, hit the near post and Clark got in front of his defender which resulted in Clark taking a knock but winning a corner. We need to see more of it.
Some don't like Keith Edwards commentaries or his rants but he is absolutely spot on with getting in front or across your defender - we are, as a team, bloody useless at it. Our forward play, based on at least the last 3 managers and coaches not teaching the forwards what to do in the box. Done used to have it and to a degree still does, but he is now out of favour.

Silent will.I'm sorry to be so forthright, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in thinking that I can spot a good footballer when I see one. And Hussey isn't one. He is a liability in defence and cannot deliver a final ball when attacking. All manager's make mistakes. Wilder has made one in signing him. Fair enough. Pay up, sell on, move on. He's just not good enough and that's the sad truth. I'd put him behind Andy Taylor and Les Tibbott from what I've seen. He might feature in a pub quiz in 20 years time and none of us will get the answer!
