Born a Blade in Matlock to Sheffield parents, although Dad had varying degrees of success on that score with my siblings.
I have the same problem with son & heir but at least he doesn't support "them" or any of the "glamour" teams.

Born in Huntingdon (Cambridgeshire) in 1988 to parents from Derby and County Down with no real footballing affinity. Grew up around that area, would be seen as a 'posh southern .............' by most people reading this I would imagine. Was sick of never getting to actually watch football so ended up becoming a Posh fan throughout my teenage years and was a season ticket holder until I finished school (a-levels), still am through and through.

I was one of those that drawn in by the £5 student ticket deals and the 'glamour'; of championship football given I'd only ever seen L2 and L1 football when Posh were dire and skint. Still come back for a game when there's no clash or when I'm up north. Basically 'posh' (yeah I know) southern lad who came as a student and went native.

Born Eastbourne but mother born Sheffield, maternal grandparents lived in Sheffield (though did not support either team), paternal grandmother born Sheffield and I have lived here since 1961 so not really that remarkable. Went to first match 1958 whilst visiting grandparents here and started going more regularly from 1961 onwards with next door neighbours. Been hooked ever since.

I'm from sunny Donny and started watching Rovers with my mates when I was a kid. Then I talked a few of them into going to the Utd v Pigs derby in 1970. 14 year old kids...we stood at the bottom of the Kop, just to the right of the goal. Well, of course, we loved it...never experienced anything like it...the atmosphere, the crush, the joy...TC and Woody...it was (and sometimes still is) an amazing place to be...and we've all been going to BDTBL ever since.

Don't get so much these days as I live in deepest Kent (yesterday was only my third time this season), but it feels like we're on the march again.

Mine was earlier that same season. 3-2 v Pigs.
I did the pigs 3-2 game that season, the cardiff 5-1 (cracking atmosphere that game - think the crowd was something like 40000+), watford 3-0 and a few others. I was only 12 and on my own and the cardiff fans mugged me in the bramall lane subway and nicked my scarf. First game was a 4-0 win over blackburn a few seasons earlier, my grandad took me and to games at the sty and was upset upset when I chose the blades as he was from that other unreasonable religion. We were far more exciting and attacking in those days.

In those days I only had enough spending money to do a few matches a year and in those days they'd usually open the gates half way through the second half on John Street to let folk out. Hence me and few other kids would sometimes wait for this and then sneak in to watch the last 20 minutes for free. Needs must. Think the club got their money back later.

Born and raised in north wales, brought up to support Manchester united. Moved to Manchester at the age of around 10, had a best mate with seasons tickets so used to go to old trafford quite regularly. 2014 came along, went to T in the park in Scotland and met our lass who was a blade. Moved in together a year later in sunny Darnall. She took me to the lane and I fell in love with the blades! Never felt the passion I have for blades than I ever did with Manchester united. Would choose the lane over old trafford any day!

Although, she's somehow converted herself to Rovrum now?? o_O

born in leicester, brother took me to watch city in the days of worthington and weller who were class acts, but along came TC, he took class to another level, hooked from then on, no regrets

She'd be under my patio for that.

I was born in Sheffield and grew up just off Bramall Lane (I'm sure you know where that is). Hearing the "Oohs" "aahhs" and roar of the crowd made me naturally curious about BDTBL. As a kid, my earliest memory was wandering into the ground for the last 20 minutes of matches (gates were opened up to let people out), standing on the Bramall Lane lower terrace and watching my heroes Woody and TC. I was hooked from then on!

My son, born in Glossop (insert crying emoji here), and if it is one thing I have got right its his passion for SUFC. Only 4 year old too, but I identified the importance of educating him early because of the amount of Man United and 'Citeh' fans he'll have to face at nursery/school. He has a goldfish called Deano, and a picture of the big man in his room (a big A3 poster from a 1989 edition of Shoot!, who better to look over him while he sleeps?!).

Although his passion and knack of remembering songs has got him in trouble at nursery, asked recently by his teacher why he was being mischievous he replied "I'm Sheffield United, we do what we want" - the wife wasn't as impressed as I was!
Glossop eh? That's near Royston Vasey isn't it? Are you local?

In our family of Blades one was born in Forres, Scotland, the other one in Sofia, Bulgaria, and the junior one in Watford, on Vicarage Road as it happens. Our child's Blades hat is a constant accessory whenever we visit any of those places (the Bulgarians, I must admit, are usually quite puzzled at the view of the swords, not quite understanding what this is about).

I don't know if Thurcroft (near Rotherham) counts as a local place to be born a Unitedite. I had little choice but to follow the blades as my grandfather, father and his 2 brothers were staunch supporters.

The first Blades match that I can still remember was a game in the 50's against Liverpool in the 2nd division, the season that they were promoted to the old 1st division.

I am ashamed to admit that my first professional match I saw was at the sty. My dad took me as guests of my uncle (by marriage). I can't remember who they played but they took me after the game to buy a Green 'Un. The newsagent was none other than Ted Burgin (Hodgy's predecessor). He was injured with a pot on his arm which might help the "Stattos" on here come up with the date

Liverpool didnt get promotion in the 1950s. They were relegated to the 2nd in 1954 and didnt return to the first division until 1962

You are probably correct about Liverpool not being promoted that year but I remember it was round about that year

A second chance for your knowledge to shine - what was the date on the Green 'Un ;)

Have now lived in the South longer than I did in Sheffield, but its still home and watching United helps retain that connection.

Often meet someone on the train back, usually standing on the opposite platform to the Blades. Good places to hunt down Blades from outside Sheffield are Good Beer Guide pubs, The Euston Tap, The Parcel Yard and especially The Stratford Tap. Bucks, Southampton, Folkestone (and his made eyes Gooner mate) and Whitstable Blade are usually somewhere close by and London is awash with Blades(ish)...

Always good to say hello!

Lived most of my life in Sheffield, but was born in Scarborough (appears we should be renamed North Yorkshire United going off this thread! :D).

Of my 3 young blade supporting kids 2 were born here in Sheffield. The eldest (now in his mid-teens) was born in Milton Keynes. As he correctly pointed out when we played them, he was in MK before MK Dons!

Grandparents, Parents and elder brother all born in Sheffield. Dad got a job in Exeter and that's where i was born. Then on to Nottingham, Lake District and finally the Isle of Man. Dad was a Blade so that was that.

Not doing too well with my boys though. They are more interested in Pokemon and Minecraft.

Born in S8, dad and uncles and grandparents all Blades.

Interestingly most of my classmates were supporters of the other side, despite being from the same area.

My baby daughter (now a whopping 7 weeks old) gets sung to sleep with the greasy chip butty song. I have high hopes.

The other day she said "ooooo" for the first time. I turned to the wife and said "See? She's already doing the Stefan Scooooougal!".

'm Norwegian. I joined a Play By Mail manager game in 1991 and was assigned to manage Sheffield United

"Who've I got, come on woman open the bloody thing.....
Is it Liverpool?.....
Manyoo?....
Could be Arsenal.....

Sheffield Who!!!

Bollocks to this for a game of soldiers, does anyone fancy that play-by-mail fishing game?"
