Simple poll based on your feelings at the present. Would you give Blackwell a year's contract based on the results so far in his tenure?

Hes getting an idea of how good the players are and whats needed. If we get another manager in and decide not to offer Blackwell a contract, the new manager needs to come in and asses the squad all over again. Keep Balckwell IMO. Done well so far too!

I concur.

He's done nothing to show he wouldn't be right for the job up to now and by the support at the matches, and indeed this poll shows, he has the backing of the fans.

No AMBITION from united if we keep him......... lets set him on :D

He's done a great job so far. To turn us around from what we were like about 6 weeks ago to where we are now is great i think.

The players have all upped their game since he has come. Naysmith, Tonge, Beattie, Sharp to name a few have all began to shine in the last few games.

Don't think there is a single reason why we shouldn't give him the job.

i will be disgusted with united if they dont offer him the job from what ive seen so far

Top manager, says all the right things, gets the team playing well and wanting to get the ball the whole of the time, can't ask for much more

I'd definately give him the job at the end of the season, our unbeaten record is there for everyone to see and we've come on in leaps and bounds since Blackwell took over :)

After what he has done since he has been here, how can we not?

The fans like him already and the players are obviously responding to him, why change it now

Why wouldnt we?

The most important people at the club are without doubt the fans - he clearly knows this and has impressed us endlessly - ok we went out of the cup and lost another game at home but the improvements individually in players like Sharp/Tongue/Hulse/Naysmith etc. and the team collectively provs also he can motivate and manage a team of 'good' players!

Hes got the players enjoying playing and the supporters enjoying supporting - back to the old SUFC

This question comes on the back of a 4 win sequence.

Would all the answer have been the same had we lost yesterday?

I'm coming round to the idea of Blackwell, but all he has done so far is ensure our survival for this season (of which I am thankful for with 7 games remaining)

I still think we should see how the season pans out. Go from there.

Agreed.

See how we finish the season.

I agree. Let's face it, none of us were sold on Warnock in December '99; many still weren't despite Cup runs and promotion. Going back a decade though, we stuck with him, and got there. With a milligram of sympathy for Sornob though, St Neil's boots were going to difficult to fill. Expectations were high, but we all knew that the wrong man was appointed to fulfil them.

I can't fault Blackie at all, and for the first time this year, we've had a leader rather than a moaner, and that's the biggest difference I've seen, football wise. Let's be fair, would Sornob have said and done what Blackie did after the Charlton horror show?

Didn't think so.

He did, grasped the nettle, and rang the changes, and made sure the players knew that playing for Sheffield United isn't a meal ticket.

That said, I'm sure he wasn't top of the list to replace Barny for a lot of fans, and there are reasons for that, not least the general record of former goalkeepers in management. I still have nagging doubts, but we have a more fight, and even a bit of swagger now. The atmosphere in the stands is immeasurably happier, and let's drink it in, because there has been a paucity of smiles around the ground for the best part of a year.

The only thing is, having been a Blade for 30 years, I never get carried away :D, so wait while the summer, and see who stays and goes.

This is true - a good point as the current situation will always be in comparison to Robsons mess!

Im not saying that Blackwell has done badly - because he hasnt - in fact hes done fantasticly and he should have the job, but there are still 7 games left and now we are 'safe' we can look upwards to where we should have been all season

I'm not sure that he deserves just a year. On results so far, perhaps two years. After all, a year is a damn sight less than the contract Robson got, and I don't think there are any Blades who would say Blackwell is a worse manager than Robbo.

But you will find plenty of Blades who would state that Robson's contract was 3 years too long....

I will admit after the first few games i thought the football & the team was no better than under Robson but ever since the Charlton game the team has come on Leaps & bounds & the credit has to go to Kevin Blackwell For helping turn around the Fortunes of our club after it looked like we was heading for relegation rather than be in with a shout of the play offs.

I think he should be given one year with the option of an extra year at the current level.
You really cant knock the results he's had.
Its promotion form lol.

I purposefully mentioned a year in the question, as many fans were baulking at the length of Robson's contract very early in the season. The form KB has instilled so far might inspire the scenario that Kev Gee mentions above but I think there just haven't been enough matches to warrant a longer offer.

If KB was willing to come here and work without a contract, surely he would jump at the offer of a year and understand the caution with which it is offered.

And anyway fence-sitters, I asked whether you'd give him the job now. Yes or no. No namby pamby "let's see until the end of the season" hedging your bets :p

Ok, well my answer would be no then.

Purely because I'd rather have more time to evaluate.

There's a poll up there ^

Come on Robster, buck the trend! :D
