This is Billy's big season in that regard. Unless he helps get us out of the swamp in the wider sense, then he'll always be seen as a serial nearly man at the Lane. I'd rather remember him for leading his own club back up. He'll never have to buy a round in his retirement.

In my opinion, Billy was shit today. Didn't chase down the opponents, Done did all of that, he fluffed a 1 on 1 chance with the keeper which he would've buried if it was last season (by that i mean he was miles better last season than this season) and he also played terrible ball down the line to Done and the ball went out for a throw.

Personally, Scougall had a much much better game than Sharp and he got subbed in 55th minute. No mention of "Well played Scougs"

Why does everyone love Billy, and praise him even when he has done absolutely nothing?

Apart from Lafferty, would say Billy was the worst player on the pitch so why did Gary praise him for his performance?

Like i've mentioned before, if Sharp does nothing all game and scores a 89th minute penalty to win us the game or to get us a draw, all i see is "Billy the man" "Billy our savior"

No. Billy hasn't done much at all this season, he's only got a few goals to his name because of penalties other team-mates have earnt and he takes all the credit.

Hoping others agree with how I feel about Billy and how much he is underperforming for us at the moment.

He's on his way out I'm afraid. Done has put two of Billys goals on a plate for him. I don't buy into this 'Billys only on the pitch to get goals' no he's not, he's on to contribute to the team winning. Its hard to pull Billy down because he's a Blade ect but he misses a hell of a lot of chances, his general play is poor and if those chances were missed by another player the fans would soon be disgruntled. Anyhow, we're winning and doing well so lets enjoy, if we are to finish in the top 2 Billy either needs to up his game 50% or be replaced IMO

That's true, the thing is Billy is 30 now, and with his physique he's not going to be playing at the Lane when he's 35, I reckon he's two years at this level and that's without major injuries and or a drop of form.

Yes he was bad first half, but that clearance and the assist meant we won the game and that more than compensates for me. Some people, and I don't mean you, just look at the negatives.

Quite a few have mentioned we're not playing to Billy's strengths yet we've tried 3-5-2, 4-5-1, 4-4-2 and he's struggled in all. We've played him with a big 'un and a little 'un yet still he looks out of sorts. I think Wilder see's this too and his persistent subbing of him suggests (to me) that maybe he has doubts too and is slowly looking at getting Lavery into that position once he is match fit.

Maybe Billy needs a break and if that happens, nobody would be happier than I to see him come back firing on all cylinders and banging them in like he did at Scunny and Donny.

The trouble is, while he's not old, he's no spring chicken any more (are any of us, eh?) and we've seen it before where those foxes in the box get hunted down easier and less effective as old father time has more and more influence.

Good to see you on here, buddy, here's hoping you become a permanent fixture and maybe pop on the general chat to lock horns with some of our enlightened political affiliates

Proven goalscorers don't always bring the club success. I prefer a team who work for each other and more players from midfield scoring goals

So do I normally but as I mentioned, I think it depends what the other players can contribute between them, and our current midfield options wouldn't fill me with much optimism regarding scoring goals. I think they're aready working hard though, including Sharp.

Even half a game on the bench did him good last season, I think, (well hope) we're in a position to rotate all four by November and all four are chipping in then maybe we'll see who comes out on top of the goals charts, but as for now I'm happy with his contribution even though he's not at his best.

It's so easy to say if you played this or that player they'd score the goals and not miss the pens, but would they with the pressure on? I'd need to see a bit more of Lavery and even Clarke before I could say that.

The motor's 13 years old now, I've had it for 9 so it's getting there. I've never had a car for more than 4 years but I still love it to bits, the old V8 just keeps growling along. It's still serviced by Hatfields, I started having a few important parts renewed each year when it got to 10 yrs like suspension wishbones, break pipes, radiator and alloys etc. I don't have to worry too much about the bodywork because it's aluminium alloy, so I'll see how it goes it might even be my last car...so long as I can get another 30 years out of it.

How's your little lad by the way? Did his first game convert him to the clan or put him off for life?

Why shouldn't Done up his game as well ?.2 assists and 2 goals isn't exactly prolific. Sharp has 1 assist and 3 goals this season( ignoring the 2 penalties as apparently they don't count)

So the old jalopy needs a few new parts under the skin but the bodywork is still in fine working order despite being a little dated and it can still give the young 'uns a run for their money when required. A bit like us, eh buddy?

Yep, my job is done with Little BB. It's no longer me that drags him along, it's him that drags me!! I'll bet their aren't many 12 year olds outside the Blades family who can claim to have seen their team at Wembley twice, Rochdale, Preston, Bury, MK Dons, Huddersfield, Donny, Peterborough, Oldham, Bournemouth, Notts County, White Hart Lane and Old Trafford!!!

And hey, we even won a few. In fact, out of that lot, he's only seen us lose 4 times. You won't need to guess which 4!

He was rather stroppy when he got subbed last night and I get the impression that he isn't happy with having to run more. With Brayford now at Burton, I believe he is the highest wage earner at the club and despite that I think he does work very hard but I do not think he is worth the wages we are paying him (yes, I blame Adkins) cos of his limited pace and lack of height

The issue I have is that the focus appears to be on Sharp only when Done hasn't done much better. We need the competition for places. I'm not convinced (yet) the Clarke will be mobile enough for the way Wilder plays but in some games he will be need (I think he would have been useful to come on with 20 to go last night). I think Lavery will end up competing for Done's spot. Holding up the ball is not Done's strong point and the little I have seen of Lavery he appears better at doing this and is just as quick.

I think all 4 will be vital to us this season and hopefully get over 60 goals between them.

I didn't say he 'won't s score' I said I'd need to see a bit more of him to say that he would do as good or better than Sharp. For instance I've not seen him take a last minute(s) penalty with the result depending on it.

The Pigs I know seem to think that he's got ability but is a bit of a wuss when the going gets tough, so I wouldn't have thought he's the cool calm last minute pen type but like I did say, I need to see a bit more of him before I call it, but I don't think it's as simple as saying put this player here and he'll do as well or better unless we're taking noticeably better players... except maybe on FIFA

As you know bartman, I struggle to get to games, but on the basis of last night's game there's also Chapman to consider. For the first time in a long time we have strength in depth, which underlines the way in which Wilder has trimmed the squad whilst strengthening throughout the squad, so astute and clever wheeler-dealing by CW.

I dont dislike Sharp. I would be delighted if he proves me wrong. I think he is overrated by some Blades fans. I want players who are good enough to get us promotion. Adkins didnt spend his transfer budget right

Whether people like it or not, we have 4 strikers of which 3 are available.

I won't believe for a second that people would partner labery and sharp as that would be daft, so this is our front 2 until Clarke gets himself sorted. Getting on sharp now suits people's agendas but their negative view on sharp is apparently more important than having a balanced team.

Saying sharp didn't work hard last night is wrong, just nothing came off for him, but nothing came off for Done either.

It's quite sad and to be honest there are people on here I thought more of that I have lost respect for considering we are unbeaten in 6

A couple of points:-

A few weeks ago I photographed and posted on Twitter, a copy of the Sheffield Telegraph, with a picture of my Grandad on the front, amongst others, from 1914, with the headlines "our brave lads go to war", and I posted pics of his medals from World War 1, lots of "likes" from people all over the world.

I missed the match last night as I am working overseas, but one thing I will say is that depending where you sit at BDTBL definitely can affect how you see the game. Often talked to mates in the pub after a game and said someone had a poor game, for them (sitting elsewhere in the ground) to disagree.

I thought Done was excellent v Peterborough - my MOTM. But as I said at the time - he just doesn't do it often enough. As for Sharp - I've not seen him have one really good game so far this season.
