Blades Madder.

I haven't posted on Blades Mad for two days.........:(

Do I win a prize Gray?

But seriously, I do feel as though a massive weight has been lifted off our club and as such yours truly.

200lbs of Hammond, several kilos of Sammon and a smidgeon of Woolford. I can't even recall who was playing centre back for us last season and I'm sure the guy at left back was actually a pickled gherkin after a dodgy pint.

It's like we've been cleansed. :)

Hey-up Barney. Are we previously aquatinted? Apart from the time you ventured onto Bladesmad and asked for help logging onto thus site pal?
BM reader for years Gray. Signed up in August of last year.

topbarney on there, haven't posted much.

Having reviewed my previous post about the transfer window and thought long and hard about the need for CW to bin a load of crap and build to a very restricted budget, I have the natural regrets that we have not got what we really need (1st choice class CB and CM) but equally I have to admit that in the circumstances he hasn't done too bad. NN x

Always makes me laugh whenever we sign anybody, most people have no idea who they are have never seen them play and always get really optimistic. 6 months later same people are slagging off the signing and saying we pay peanuts etc...
(Directed at no one and everyone).

Thank God it's not just me who thinks that we might.. just might have a better first 11 than last season.

I was beginning to think McCabe had spiked mi brew. ;)

UTB!

Good to see some optimism from an old curmudgeon like your good self GB. After sapping so much from us over the last few years I have to admit I find it really hard to muster up the same kind of positivity but hey, I'll still be trudging down to BDTBL with my lad come hell or high water. Still feel we lack pace and a midfield that can get us up but I hope I'm wrong.

Still got the Jaaaaaaag? :)

Hallelujah brother...finally seen the light..

Mr. Blade, you are a blaggard. Optimism and remaining a Blade? A contradiction in terms if ever there was.

Have you not yet grasped that the crown of thorns known as being a Blade does not permit even the meerest hint of optimism?

My name is KIMD and I don't feel optimistic :-(

We lack leaders and any sort of bite in centre mid, to allow Fleck to be creative. Sorry to rain on your parade, but I think it'll cost us dearly.

Hey-up BB, so this is where you've been hiding. :)

I agree about the midfield, but I'm hoping with Lavery, Chapman and maybe young Brooks we'll at least have some pace in the side.

The Jaaag is still going strong mate, is yours?

Just to clarify that in my case 8lade, feeling more positive than I have for months doesn't necessarily mean that I'm 'really optimistic'. My personal low in the past 6 months was at the back of last season where I don't think I've ever been so fed up watching United.

My relative optimism has been tempered by us selling off our best young assets (as per), but after watching the last two games I think we might just be seeing some progress. Wilder seems to have addressed the keeper position at last, and for all the question marks surrounding midfield, we do seem to have finally got in 2 or 3 players with genuine pace and he's quickly tried to address an obvious weakness at left back.

Nobody knows how well the new signings will do and how quickly the team will gel (if at all). A repeat of last season's performance at the Gills will knock my enthusiasm down a notch or ten, but I just think that amongst the doom and gloom there could be one or two chinks of light right now, and that's why my current mood is relatively positive. UTB.

After seeing young Ben Whiteman last season, I thought he was one of the (very!) few positives and I would like to see him given a chance in midfield. As big as Basham but stronger and a better all round footballer IMHO. I think he could play in a 4-4-2 which Wilder seems to prefer with Fleck alongside and Duffy/Chapman/Lavery (take your pick) covering the flanks. My concern is that it may take CW some time to find out his best team, something I don't think Clough established in his last season and Adkins never did!

The Jag is no longer the main charabanc these days but I still have it. Needs some work before I move it on. I have joined the ranks of Munichs finest(??), sadly.

Spot on Grey lets now hope we can reverse that 0-4 defeat at the start of last season

I refer you to my post 23 Kozzy.

There's no parade organised yet buddy, just a bit more hope that'll last at least until Sunday afternoon. ;)

Agree totally, how long have we been saying we need a captain on the pitch and/or an enforcer? Think Morgan was the last of either but Maguire's size made him intimidating enough to keep other teams thugs quiet.

My name is B56 GrayBlade and I watch Sheffield United.

Sometimes I'm really optermistic, then I'm very pessimistic.

Sometimes I get angry and post shit calling for heads to roll.

Sometimes LYDON likes my posts because of the hairdoos I give his avatar

Sometimes I think the manager is our saviour then I do a "Gerrim out" pole or is it poll?

I'm a confidence supporter, it's called being a Blade.

Nice to meet you ;)

Doyle, despite his small stature, was the last enforcer we had, always the first to retaliate if anyone came in with a hard tackle on one of our lads. Billy is not shy at that either
