It does sting a bit doesn't it. There just doesn't seem to ever be any prospect of us moving forward at all as club whilst we keep doing this.

Moving forward? we have been moving backwards for nearly a decade and we haven't finished yet.

Nobody seems to have picked up on the fact this was "rumoured" weeks ago. Clearly there was something in it.

It pains me to question the club yet again, but seeing as we had no intention of playing him, and had every intention of selling him why the hell have we done this 2 hours before the window closes?

Surely we could have got this done long before now so we could get on with spending the money on strengthening the crucial areas we are lacking.
I really hoped we might be learning from mistakes made, and I could be more cynical as to this particular transfer. But on the evidence so far we dint seem to have got the hang of this transfer lark do we.

...because it's 'the Hull scenario'

UTD: we want more money for the lad..
Everton: In that case we'll leave it...
UTD: right, stuff yer then...
UTD three weeks later: hello, Everton?...remember that million quid you offered?

League 2: 26 apps, 8 goals.
League 1: 4 apps, 0 goals.

£1.5m.

Surely even we cannot complain at that.

Personally think we've had their pants down.
Not complaining about the fee IF it is £1.5m, but it's still another young prospect we've sold off before realising their potential. One day we will have to turn around and say no, because with our track record in reinvesting and replacing players we will only regress.

So as it stands then, after ditching about 15 players in total from the squad numbers from the start of the year, we have in the last 2 weeks flogged Che for about 1.5m (at least), DCL for about a £1m (at least), and we have spent 250k on the keeper and about 200k on Lavery. Total in 2.5m at least, total spent so far....£450k. Net gain over £2m (and thats a conservative figure) They know how to back the manager dont they. All the best Chris your gunna need it pal.

Jordan Slew Mk 2 havent seen anything in him that would make him a better striker than we already have at the club in Sharp, Clarke and Done
He has potential but thats all it is really he would only be playing for the U21s or warming the bench for us not going to be a starter is he

McCabe has definitely got the hang of this transfer malarkey alright, what a complete twat he really is.

He's played it to a tee yet again, this has been on the cards for weeks for more or less the same fee, why else would we wait weeks for the transfer to go through? The smug cunt.

He was having his medical this morning, how long does that fucking take? Fuck off McCabe.

This has nothing to do with DCL talents, this is me being well pissed off with our clubs cynical handling of things.

Lol.

At least we're top of the Division Three league table for transfer fees received.

And if we think he's worth more....we keep the lad and play him.
If we really want to cash in, what better way to increase his value by getting him playing and showing his ability.

Yet again we are late settling the first 11 never mind the squad. We have made a terrible start, and these types of delay amplify these problems that have us in this position.
This should have been done weeks ago.

However hard it may seem - CW has had to make some difficult choices.

If the original signings he made had been half decent, we might not have had to bolster a crap defence with reinforcements.

We do now have genuine competition in defence - it is up to CW & AK to make the defensive unit work - and not concede goals.

Both Che and DCL are a consequence of a 6th year in this division - I am certain we all do not want a 7th. Can we actually afford to wait and see 1,2 or 3 years for DCL - sure it would be nice - but we just can't.

We might not get out this season, but the restructuring CW has now done, might make a difference.

Give him credit - he has attempted to get real competition where it was really needed - in defence.

The old cliché - don't concede, don't lose.

Mr Bruce and his need to make it sound like he's got good value aren't involved this time around though.

Have to say we will only know whether this is good or bad business with hindsight. Less concerned over this than Che right now.

I don't think United reluctantly decide to sell their best players in the summer window, I think they plan to sell them, and Wilder will have probably known that Adams, DCL and even Brayford would be on their way out.

What he might not have known how much he'd get back to reinvest...or maybe he did, but I think all this talk of us fighting off bids is tripe.

So you want to settle in the first team and wanted us to play someone we knew we'd be cashing in on? Bit of a contradiction there.

Well of course it hasnt been agreed. Thats not how United roll on transfer deadline day. We wait...and then we wait some more...and then when the time is just right...we accept, bundle the latest poor sod out of the car which has been silently parked in the buying clubs car park, before frog marching him to the contract and making him sign. Then we wait a bit more...before we confirm it and then when the deadline time is nearly up we shout that we are all in for a shit load of targets with bids fired off left right and centre now we have money to spend...before the clock unfortunately beats us and we sadly announce that we 'were so close but just couldnt get the 10 deals over the line' before we gleefully announce that 'but on the bright side the loan window opens up in a week and we will be very active'. Thats how we roll.

I was saying earlier today....cynical bstard that i am....

Although he's got a lot to improve on he's proven that he's decent in the air. If Leon Clarke is unavailable we've now only small forwards at the club. Will we miss having the option of an aerial threat/target for crosses when we're struggling to carve through teams?
He's tall. That's where it ends, isn't it?

Has he scored with his head on loan elsewhere? I'd like to say that was one of his strong points when he played for us, but in this case there's no thought to waste. He hasn't demonstrated any strong points in this time.

In my lifetime of supporting us, DCL's rise to super stardom over the next 48 hours ( I'm not accusing you of this) will be both the most hilarious and bemusing.

Not what I mean.

Sell him when the offer comes in when they pay the price we value him at. Set a deadline for his sale in effect.

Not done by 10/8 for £X...then you stay. Then play him, get the best from him and if we still want to sell in January the clubs will be back, and we will be in a better position to barter.

Goodbye DCL I'll never forget that time you played alright away at Doncaster and the time you almost scored against Crewe in the League Cup.
I need to stop writing this post now, the tears sting my eyes.......
To be fair, that chance against Crewe might have been an open net, but it was at least 7 yards out.
