I'm not sure this is an issue. Clearly he isn't someone Wilder wants to play. Otherwise he would. We have a few options up top so if we loan with a view to a sale or to take the wages off the books so be it.

I'm less inclined to be bothered about this than the non replacement of Adams, which hasn't ever looked like materialising.

If we are to loan him out then it shouldn't be to a team we would expect to be competing with near the top of the league.

It has. We have plenty of substitutes with football brains the size of peas.

Err...

Is the problem that he should be?

Only if he's worked tirelessly on his first touch so he doesn't need three and has developed some enthusiasm to join in when there's a game of football going on around him.

Mediocre players just get better and betterer when not in the team.

It's the Bladesfans' Way.

You're insinuating that letting him go is a bad move. If he is to play, someone needs to make way.

If only there was some kind of law in football where you didn't have to end the game with the same players you started with, so if you needed something different you could swap players mid game.

Call it player swapsies, and you could make 3 player swapsies during the match.

When we're struggling to score as we have been this season, I imagine he'd be a decent player swapsie to call upon.

Last year of contract. Loaned to a promotion rival tomorrow.

This club is an abomination.
If that's true it's a disgrace.

Must worth at least £5m. Actually played and scored in division 4 last season.

Once again we're sacking off our best players with loads of potential for nowt.

This club will only go one way whilst we're giving away all our best young talent.

ooh, sarcasm. I love sarcasm. Right here goes...

That would never catch on. You'd get swapsies sitting on the side, let's say 7 for the sake of arguments. Then 3 get on each game. That leaves 4 swapsies sitting on the side still, let's call these "NGE" (not good enough).

Eventually the NGEs will get bored, longing to become a swapsie and will look to move on to another team where they can become a swapsie or better yet, a "starter".

Unfortunately, McNulty is a swapsie at best but teetering in the NGE scale. He doesn't have the work rate of Matt Done or the physical presence of Leon Clarke.

was shocked whem mcnulty came back from pompey
wont shed any tears if he leaves to be honest
did nt fire pompey to promotion , did he
And none of our strikers even fired us to the playoffs did they? Letting a goal scorer go is a mistake especially when our current ones are hardly on fire!!

The anigma that is Mcnulty.

My view is this....while most people on this forum think they know pro football the reality is they don't.

We are now on our 3rd professional manager who doesn't really fancy him, this must give you a clear indication of his ability to make it at this level / club. No mention of Pompey being back in for him either which is another is sign that another manager doesn't want him. Personally I think he is poor and would be a squad player at best. Slow, lazy, no awareness and gives the ball away a lot. He can't be trusted on the pitch in my opinion.

A similar scenario to this is Joe Cole, loads of fans wanted in the starting 11 but every manager he played under (and he has played under some of he best there is) never started him regular. The fans thought he was better than he actually was, which is what I think we have got with McNulty.

........and DCL and had with Adams? I don't agree. I think we are trying to shoe horn Sharp and Clarke and Done into a forrard line that int gunner werk. We need an option that is different and, IMO, McNulty n Duffy compliment each other with ickul Scoogs, make a creative trio. Still, what do I know.

I'd rather have Lavery over Mcnulty in all honesty, Lavery offers pace which is something we need, Mcnulty is a decent finisher but Sharp and Clarke are better for me. Also Lavery can play out on the wing

Well, let's start with what you don't know and number one on the list is your penultimate sentence. Quite how you come to that conclusion when it's never happened, Pele knows...

When have you seen those 3 play together to come to that conclusion?

No the same situation as Adams, Adkins played him regular enough and Wilder wanted him to stay but he went to a better side on more money. That happens at every single club in the world!

DCL - Just my opinion but the kid is not ready to be anywhere near starting week in week out.

Isnt mcnulty the sucsessor to sharp in a couple of years! He has scored goals at a rate if almost 1 in 2. What is it about him 3 managers now cant deal with? As a fan I think he can do a job I want him to have a shot. The thought of selling him or loaning him to a promotion rival is nuts! Didnt Mk refuse to sell us a player we wanted so we have seen it done, lets see if we really do have the power in what happens to our players as tufty says. If he goes lets have it straight as to why (ie his attitude etc) cos this one hurts almost as much as losing brayford!

Sad to see McNulty leave though but guess that we couldn't keep McNulty, Done and Sharp. Wish McNulty all the best. Adkins should have used him last season and maybe McNulty would be further along in his career with us than he is now, which is third choice.
