And if he ... sorry ... McCabe sells, you can guarantee it will be on these conditions:

1. Peanuts.
2. "We couldn't turn it down."
3. "We can't keep the player if he wants to go."
4. "It triggered a clause in his contract that if anyone offered bobbar money, we'd have his bags packed and he'd be off.
5. Ten quid down payment. The rest in yearly installments, if:
a. The player plays for England
b. He scores a goal in the World Cup final, in the second half, kicking toward the kop
c. He marries one of Little Mix. The one with the big arse. Yeah, her.
d. We pay them back plus interest at 43827% APR if all the above doesn't happen
6. If the cost is above £30k, Wilder gets £500 of it for transfers, the rest goes on the 'mounting debt'.
7. Certain posters pull out their hankies to boo-hoo how much Kind Kevin has kept our valiant club from sinking without trace*

*by buying every fucking thing the club ever owned, allowing it to stagnate and die, and flogging off the residue. Some would call it venture capitalism, some would call it 'being a bloody big Blade'.

Now I know that me telling you the McCabe vitriolic agenda is (1) monotonous (2) possibly unwarranted and (3) could be replaced by a single cipher of a post such as "IHM"so that we get the drift, isn't going to stop you posting it time and time again. However, just for the debate and interest, what did the club ever own and which version of which corporate entity own it? I mean I may be wrong but various owners, ne'er do wells, corporate assassins and bloodsuckers have issued shares and borrowed money on "the club" even since the Laver era.

 Where to start with that one?

Well obviously you don't know how to so I will help.

Your post said the excuse for Adams being sold was to strengthen. Who said this as I do not recall Wilder saying it ?

However are you saying saying a new goalkeeper to replace Long with the money we received for a player who would be on the bench is not improving the team ? Now that is ludicrous

I'm still awIting a cogent explanation for why if he's worth three four or five million no one bid more than Birminghams offer.

You described Che Adams who was 19 last season and already faster and stronger than any of our other players, with all the potential in the world if albeit a bit raw (he was 19) as an average third division forward. Furthermore that somehow we've received over the odds for him?? £1.7m has gotten us a 200k goalkeeper. Yeah brilliant. He'd have been on and off the bench, he's 20 years old that's what happens, but he was our only player capable of going past a defender. There's no hope for reasoned debate on other subjects if Che Adams is an average third division forward.

The point being made was that we should have asked for four or five million to deter interest, just like other clubs are doing to us with lesser amounts for their players. Pretty sure you've had this explained to you more than once.

Anybody would think we're known throughout the footballing world for accepting low bids for our assets. Birmingham were not the only club involved in a series of bids that began as low as £1m from memory?

But they didn't want to deter interest, they were happy to sell him.

Sorry Luke that doesn't begin to answer my question. If anything it confirms what I said. These other clubs Didnt bid higher than Brum and despite all the high prices being paid for English players no one took a punt at Adams at anywhere near his perceived value on here.

To say the club took a low price is laughable because there's no proof anywhere of a value of £3m or above.

So by your logic all those players (all clubs) that haven't had any bids put in for them, they're all worth £0?

Well no of course it doesn't. I'm trying to argue with somebody that actually defends the transfer policy of Sheffield United.

If you mean me I'm sure you can give me an example of where ive done that. It'll be just as hard as trying to find anyone outside some Blades that think Che is worth at least double what we sold him for though.

500k for the new keeper but don't let the facts get in the way of reasoned debate.

All the potential in the world ? Which world ? Yes Adams had skill and strength but he lacked any pro active movement and his lack of fitness were issues last season. In addition his first touch was often poor.In particular away from home last season he went missing when the going got tough

Granted he is young but for me he often flattered to deceive in my opinion.I hope he succeeds but he has a long way to go

Birmingham have gambled heavily on potential. We need to go up and 1.7 million for Adams( a league one player coming off the bench- your words) is a great deal for us for a player who was worth far less than this.We have a new keeper and hopefully a centre half and winger will follow. In my opinion he is not a big loss.

The bigger scandal was the way we gave away Murphy last season.

Who has defended the club's transfer policy( and what do you think the policy is ?). I have not seen anyone who has done this. The debate is about the value/ sale of one player and what we have done with the money.

Try not to take the debate off on a tangent

Happy with this..

Out. Keiran Wallace
Florist Long
Louis Reed (loan)
James Wallace
Matty Done

Less Happy with this...

Out. Billy Sharp
Paul Coutts
Dominic Calvert Lewin.

I think you can merge those two lists pull a couple from it and not be far off what actually happens.

We don't know what fee we got for Adams or what fee we paid for Moore, both were undisclosed. ;)

If we had waited a bit longer, let him play a few games at the start of the season his value would have increased.

Forest sold a 19 year old for 13 million yesterday. He had played and scored less than Che.

We got a shit deal for Che if we still don't have sufficient funds to strengthen.

And had he played poorly what would have happened to his value?

You have compared Burke to Adams. Why do you think someone has paid that money for Burke as opposed to Adams ?

I think the Board are too eager to sell normally but in this instance I think they got a very good price for a bench warmer

Presumably someone saw significantly more potential in the Forest lad then. Especially as he had played and scored less.

At the end of the day I not saying its a good deal butno one has offered anywhere near the valuations quoted by people on here.

If he had played poorly we would have got to keep a promising young player and look to develop him ourselves.

Sadly the plan was always to sell him, regardless.

For me the only one's I'd be looking to sell/release are,

James Wallace, Paul Coutts (if the money saved is re-invested in say Luke Murphy), George Long & DCL (again if the reported £1mil is re-invested)

He was poor towards the end of last season, we shouldn't pretend otherwise.

With McCabe wanting the club to be self sufficient - a pipe dream IMO if he wants promotion and to remain in the championship if achieved - a sale was always on the cards. He may well progress, he may not but we need to look at players at face value not compare him with others who most of us won't even have seen once. The fact that someone of a similar age went for £13m doesn't mean we should have got more for Adams.

It does though! Burke is undoubtedly a good player in very good form, that was Che at the start of last season. Leipzig have paid the high fee for his potential, all higher league clubs pay for potential and Che had a lot.

If, we manage to get 3 or 4 good league one players in this week without sacrificing any more of our good players I'll accept that it was a good deal by the board. If not then we've weakened ourselves again when we really didn't need to.

Tufty didn't rate him. He wouldn't have been in the team. I think I may have mentioned this before...
