It he wants to be No 1 I'd suggest George gets a bit better at goalkeeping.

Personally having listened to the interview I thought he was very honest. Said last week was his hardest in football since he was 16.
Was honest about the errors and where we've been gash this season.
Talked openly about targets
Agreed we've been poor and didn't try to spin it (something everyone wanted after last yr)
Knows we need pace up front
Has acknowledged his system isn't working to date
Has worked on shape of the team and drilled the defenders this week which is clearly what they need having only played 4 games together!
What do people want. We asked for an honest manager- we have one
We want a Blade in charge who is passionate about the club- we have one
It's clear he wants to succeed- That's what we want.
Give the man a chance 4 games. Let's get behind them this weekend and take some pressure off the team because we're the ones creating it by getting on their case.
I actually feel a bit sorry for Wilder. I think he thought, like many of us would, that he could change things. That being a Blade would be enough. I wonder now if he is slowly realising how fucked up things are, that they aren't going to change because they can't change. It's just one huge moneypit.
Wider and McCabe are looking at the England blue print .
you forgot to mention the bit about Maguire refusing to play for us.....allegedly
How is the money not there to buy these players, even at 'ridiculous prices'?? If we don't strengthen then we'll struggle in the bottom half of the table.
If we do strengthen then we have a chance of promotion and recouping our cash in the champ.
The lack of ambition is very telling and we really will be stuck in L1 for a long time, or worse, end up in L2.
A real shame.
Bloke is hurting and with dignity if it goes Pete tong , he could walk which would be a absolute diaster.
Think this is where the board quote 'Financial Fair Play' tying our hands... not that it seems to limit many other clubs. Everyone else seems to wangle their way round it.
McCabe strikes me as one of those who goes home after a sale of a player, with that big stupid smirk on his face, gets home to his missus and says: "You know me love, I'm a financial genius"
We signed McD on a one year contract on quite good money. When his contract expired we offered him one on reduced terms but still quite good for L1. He would only sign the contract if there was a release clause. It was like when we gave McDonald to Wolves.
Vintage J Wallace, sold as seen, spares or repair. The photographs form part of the description. Can you imagine if they could have taken the back off Hammond![]()
Good until last paragraph . Do you think we would have won all games if played without a crowd , behind closed doors . No pressure from the crowd because we are the ones creating it by getting on there backs .
No ides but players do need to man up , grow some balls , and focus on what they get paid for .
Does seem the goalposts have changed a lot in the last few weeks.....CW was quoted as saying he will hope to have 2 in then nothing happens....then 3 in...bids for players....now prices are ridiculous.
The bid for Webster was ridiculous. He has just signed a new contract - why not go for him in the summer?
I am a bit concerned at some of CW's judgements on players so far - not just the signings but the fact he opted to retain Brayford and Long and then 2 weeks into the season he is looking to shift both on.
I do fear it will be a case of same old, same old by this time next week. We had bids in but could not get them over the line. I know we brought a lot in over the summer but we had to just to replace those leaving and a lot more left than came in.
We are still 4 or 5 players short of even being a respectable league one side that can have a sniff of the playoffs.

They don't get fined in L1 because FFP doesn't apply. It's SCMP which allows owner investment to be counted as income. They do because they accept the fine and crack on in the division they get promoted to. But yeah, McCabe will give it the FFP bullshit.
apart from it was a player that told me that......allegedlyI suppose Kev tells you the moon is made of cheese you ask what type?
He just pulls a bit of paper out of his random lie generator knowing some will bite.
Wilders apparent no nonsense style
I'm really concerned DB. I'm concerned about how Wilder chucked players over the edge, the way he burned all his bridges in what appears to be an effort to win favour with the fans. If he had replaced with anything better surely we wouldn't have started the season this badly?
You can argue over Hammond and the reasons but Wilders apparent no nonsense style has players like Sharp, Long and Brayford playing worse, not better.
Fleck appears to be the only player who is better than what we had. Our defence is featherweight, our midfield lacks creativity and our forwards are feeding on scraps. Coutts, a player lambasted as badly as any last season is now looking along with Scoogs to be vying for a place in midfield. Brayford was one of the few we all agreed on keeping but now he has fucked off to Burton, playing as badly as ever seen in a red and white shirt. Long, our young keeper is now being shoved out the door being told to go find another club and Adams sold for relative buttons to a club a division above, showing he is probably one of the few who could have made a positive contribution.
Perhaps we need to wait 10 or 20 games to see the fruits but I am less convinced with every move being made.
At this rate Clough is going to be remembered more like his dad in this generation of clusterfucks.
I'm genuinely shell shocked that even by our standards we are dropping down the shitter.
How many offers did we get? All the clubs knew he was up for sale, it wasn't a secret.

This is not knee jerk. For a few seasons and even since Wilder took over in May we have been a soft touch right down the middle. Needed a keeper (took him 4 months but got one), an experienced commanding centre back and a dirty get in midfield who can lead. We have not addressed that and now with less than a week to go are scrambling round again. He clearly signed Wilson and Wright as back ups and the McFadzean deal did not happen quite a long time ago. So what have we been doing to address this since?
Call my cynical but I do not believe much that comes out of SUFC. In terms of the 3 or 4 quality additions, why can't we sign them? This notion that we are the only club that people shove up the prices for is a nonsense. Do managers like Adkins/Wilder really think teams are that bothered who comes in whether it is us or another side - I dont like or believe this 'Its Sheffield United...so they add another few 0's on!' idea. It's utter bull. Clubs drive a hard bargain with any prospective buying club, not just us. It is only us that seems incapable of getting decent players over the line.
Definite cooling towards the manager on here...
No fucker's callin' him Tufty.
Wait 'til it really gets nasty...
