No Bomber Harris. That's Keith Harris isn't it??
I never ranked Jay but Collins was half decent when he first came and just unfortunately got worse as age caught up with him, he's apparently loving it in Tampa Bay though
Don't think it's a case of "not liking" Freeman. But everyone thought the beard was better. . . . .That was then.I've just defended the lad on another thread but wanted to see a general consensus of the guy. I know alot of people really don't like him but i'm not sure why? Was part of the 'nearly got promotion' team and contributed with goals and assists. Had abit of a diva moment when we tried to sign him permanently with wages but might of been his agent bumping it up? Fell out of favour with previous managers and played well by all accounts for Portsmouth so why not give him a good backing and maybe Wilder has improved his play? I say give him some backing and see what happens. Personally I think a 3-5-2 formation will work best with the team.
Lack of understanding of the role. After he's been involved in forward play he takes an absolute age to get back in position. Poor attitude for me and cost us several goals by being out of position.
Not the solution I'm afraid !
Freeman..........hmmmmm......this has been done to death, but here goes again.
Looks much better as a wing back but is poor defending in a 4.
Great feet - good skill sets going forward and certainly not good enough as RM as some have suggested - but I do accept why this has been suggested.
Bit of a quandary with Freeman.
When playing as a full back he gets skinned very easily, but then so did Brayford IMO.
For the ones that had the privilege of seeing Borbokis, he was a fabulous wing back - but not good in a 4.
Ask yourself a question - is he good enough at L1 standard to be a RB in a team that can finish Top 2? I think not.
I also think the same about Wilson and Hussey.
ANY team can probably "carry" 1 average defender (in a 4) and 1 average midfield (in a 4) - we have too many average players to finish top 2 or even top 6. Freeman just adds to us being average to poor in this squad.
UTB
Gets a lot of unfair stick at times, capable enough at this level.
Charlton also had Jonny Jackson, a proper midfielder and captain. I think he's still there and if they do well, he'll play a large part in it.I think Utd have been guilty of over doing it with their thinking that the team needs attacking full backs. Whilst its great if you have a decent one like Kyle Walker, they are few and far especially in the third tier. What Utd should be looking to do is find a totally solid, unflappable back four who live and breath defending, clearing their lines and doing the basics well. Then the creativity should come from the midfield and attacking wide players. Let the back four het.on with trying to get clean sheets and not getting caught out of position leading to soft goals being given away. A few years ago, Charlton got promoted after a huge turnover of players but they did so on the back of winning a lot of games 1 nil. They might not have been cavalier in their play but they ground results out and went up on the back off it. Utd should get the basics right and it starts with a rock solid defence and not attacking gung ho full backs. On that basis both Brayford and Freeman are weak links and need to move on.
He's a token gesture defender......he never really puts his foot in or his head where he might get hurt, he just does enough to make it look like he's made a challenge.
And he's so slow as getting back if he's been down the wing attacking...just leaves it for anyone else to sort out as the opposition break on us.
He has similar lack of defensive positioning to Brayford and generally lets his opponent get goal side of him when crossed in from the opposite side.
Apart from that, he's not a bad crosser and is reasonable at going forwards.....but I think his attitude stinks.....he appears to be all about the £ without much substance.
Makes letting the Beard go before getting his replacement in a stupid decision.

It might help if he's got a player who tracks back and defends properly in front of him. I remember him having JCL in front of him and Dani Alves would have struggled to look good with the help he got.Freeman as long as he hasn't regressed too, is probably better than Brayford (well the Brayford playing to get away)
If we get a commanding right sided CB to keep him in check and with Basham as an alternative then let's give it a go until Christmas.
We are in dire need of people who want to get on the ball and get their head up, some pace and flair
