Ah..the ever accurate transfermarkt.co.uk

Have we spent it yet?
It's nearly 5pm and we've had it a whole day now...

Wilde.....errrrrm....Tufty OUT!

Typical, I saw the name of the thread was "The Adams Money", and wrongly assumed it was a discussion of episode 26 of the 1960's sitcom, The Addams Family, hoping that it would include a cameo appearance by Mr TV himself, the nation's favourite, Nick "Monty" Mongomery

"...When Morticia believes the family to be bankrupt, she sells her railroad shares to a mystery buyer to raise money..."

So let me get this straight.

“he will spend £2million on transfer fees this season and more if we sell the likes of Adams”

“Adkins had plenty of money available but chose not to spend it”

To

“he’s not an endless source of money…we need more wealthy investors”

I don’t think most of the criticism about McCabe is even about the amount of money he’s willing to put in. It seems to mostly be about his absolutely atrocious decision making over the years coupled with his arrogance and lies to the fans and then blaming it all on “bad luck”.

Yes he’s invested lots of money but it’s his own awful stewardship that has mean spending tens of millions whilst still taking the club backwards.
Transfer fees are irrelevant.

It's signing on fees and wages that he needs to fund

Fuck it ...... I'm off ' t ' match .
Well I bet that cheared you up no end.

Imperative the Adams money is spent on some pace and quality as we are badly lacking both and although only 2 games in its not the start we were looking for !

Listen from 4:45 on the new transfers bit of the interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0445qld

5:40 – when asked about the Adams cash, he immediately turns the question towards an answer of "we've spent fees, we've brought players in, players we've wanted to move out have been a stumbling block"

So Chris, have we already pretty much spent the Adams money?

But that's a surprise to no one at all?

The few on here who were saying we'll sign a combination of 2-4 players from this will sadly be proved wrong again by the next 2 weeks.

His interview was worrying. He dodged the question somewhat about Adams money and as others have said, seemed to suggest we have already spent money. I may have misread his answer but that was not someone who was certain he would have funds to spend and improve the squad properly.

As I said the other day why many think it will be different this time (boards' squirreling of incoming funds) I am not sure? Time and time again they have failed to deliver by selling one of our best players and not properly replacing them.

I see some have said CW won't put up with any crap from the board but so far he has praised them and said they have backed him. He seems to suggest that a few nominal fees for Clarke and Hussey is great work from them (his words not mine).

When you've managed Halifax, Oxford and Northampton, you probably do think that the money the board have put up so far is great.

that's one of the reasons Wilder was chosen - he's used to not having the money to spend.

yes you identified some sarcastic remark , well spotted

The intent behind a message can be difficult to interpret when communicating via forums. That difficulty multiplies by at least ten when one of the participants to the discussion is only semi-literate with seemingly no grasp of punctuation or it’s purpose in written communication.

I agree to an extent (although transfer fees are necessary to poach top talent from smaller clubs). But that post was in response to a poster who remains adamant we will spend £2milllion in net transfer fees this season.

Disappointed with the result , obviously . But I'm miles away from the abject dejection and desperation felt by some on here .

Overall though , I was quite pleased with the new signings and it was good to see snippets of the way CW wants us to play .

I thought Hussey looked a good aquisition . I thought he handled a very pacey wide man for them quite well and in the first half our threat down the left side with him as an integral part of it was very good .

Wilson and o'connell looked steady in the middle and better than I thought they'd be . Could be a good pairing there after 6 or 7 more games together .

Fleck is a cracking signing . *

Duffy looks a real live wire . Inventive and gets involved all over the park . *

Leon Clarke . Could have had at least 4 . Loved the way he managed to find space , works hard and he fills me with confidence .

Sharp and Brayford were miles off the pace .

Basham and Done need replacing . Basham puts the effort in , no doubt about it . But we need a CM that offers more than industry alone . The times he got the ball and all momentum was lost was very frustrating .

* Fleck is a midfield terrier who will break opposition play up and feed his team mates . He'd be even more effective if he was alongside a CM who pulls the strings for us . One of the most frustrating things for me last night , aside from the result of course , was the fact that at times we lacked direction . A solid CM directing play is badly needed . Get one in and Fleck will be even better imo .

* I have a degree of sympathy for Done as he is clearly not a winger/WM . And what's even clearer is that Duffy has far too much on his plate covering both wings . We need a replacement for Done as soon as possible as I feel the side will be much more settled and blanched when we have him . I also think we'll see much more from Brayford too when this happens .

So , in sum , get the new CM and WM in and I think we'll fine .

A forceful, driving central midfielder - John Joe O'Toole
A wideman, a "spark" player to replace Adams's unconventionality - Nathan Byrne
A goalie to push George (& to replace him if he doesn't maintain standards) - Adam Smith

Could make all the difference.
