Not really, Che is still our player, he didn't give anything away about who we are trying to bring in. All the managers to be fair spoke well. I have a feeling though that Che might be gone if we get a higher bid in.

Looks like George is at least going to start as our no 1. Someone asked him about bringing another keeper in and he skated over the question . Gives me the impression he had no intention to bring another keeper in to challenge George. Which was a bit worrying. Hes certainly looking for another midfielder though.

Hopefully with a more athletic midfield and defence in front of George he should be less exposed than last season. Certainly I expect fewer shots from distance as the outfield players get stuck in more, unlike last season's mob who practically laid a red carpet down the middle of the pitch.

I still expect George to flap at every cross that comes in though. So I agree, it's a bit worrying.

Shall we just turn every thread in to a George Long slag fest?

Coutts is still a worthless piece of shit.

Irrelevant and Mardy. Let's go abuse Leon Clarke to vent our spleen.

I won't dignify your tantrum by pointing out Local George's many and manifest weaknesses. They will be on display again very soon...

I'd fully agree although that said he actually did OK aqainst Walsall and that was the best United performance I saw all last season.

Thought Wilder had already said he'd asked Basham what his favoured position was, ie midfield, ans stated that's where he'd be playing him?

Yes, he did have a couple of good performances in the RWB, and should we have an injury crisis and need someone to fill in, then he would fit the bill.

My objection is him being Plan A.

Agreed, but I'm afraid I would substitute a few other initials as well.

Nearly man.

Agreed. I think he's best suited to midfield, but he hardly commands a starting position.

It's a shame, because I think he has some good attributes, but his lack of aggression and consistency lets him down.

That's the point

Agree with that. I think he pretends to be aggressive and get stuck in but he's just a soft bastard, like that other soft bastard Michael Tonge.

His anticipation for the most part is poor and doesn't seem to pass instinctively, however he is very good at recovering. I agree that he is a good squad player but wouldn't be in my 1st 11.

So there will be something in this. Good news.

Brayford last tweet simply says "you can't always get what you want" which could mean anything but it's still nevertheless intriguing. As well as this, his "money talks but it doesn't (whatever it said)" bio has disappeared.

The amount of people saying that Basham could play full/wing back concerns me.

He is not a wide player, I've never seen any evidence that he can cross a ball, create a chance, or take a man on (one bit of skill v Southampton does not count!).

The only back up to Brayford in the squad at the moment is Freeman, who is more than capable of acting as a stop gap until replacement is found.

Its all about opinions, HCDM, all about opinions

i would not even think about selling brayford especially not for morsy i would really like morsy to be playing for us but if it meant selling brayford to get him here not a chance. Selling our best players is one of the reasons why we are still in this division we can't be doing that any more. We will need brayford to get us promoted this coming season and besides who could we get that would be the level of player that the beard is. Wabara no chance championship clubs are interested Byrne no chance he won't drop down to league 1 hence why he jumped at the chance to play in the championship.

IMO we need an experienced 30+ year old keeper at the club to mentor Long and replace him if his form slumps.

I'd hate to see Brayford leave, he has pace, is always attack-minded and can play football. Potentially the best in the division. He was mostly superb under Clough.

See so many saying he's one of our best players, we couldn't get anyone better etc etc...

Honestly, what have you been watching for the last 18 months? He's been no better than anybody. He's been a different player to the one we had on loan. He was even playing quite poorly for Cardiff. He's gone downhill for whatever reason and his injuries have compounded it. There's nothing to suggest he's going to get any better. And then there's the value for money argument.

It's mostly seeing what you want to see performance wise and blind faith that he'll improve.

I'm confident we could do better than him. We could certainly get better value for money than him.

To be fair, he has had two serious injuries in that time.

Why ,that could be any player , all players get injuries ,its part of the game.

True, but Brayford hasn't shown anything to suggest he will get back to the player he was. He has a reputation of being a very good right back, but his recent form suggests different. How many players have we brought in over recent years, that have been in a similar position? Wallace and Coutts spring to mind straight away. Both highly rated, but injuries have meant they've never got back to the level of performance they previously reached.

Brayford's wages, would allow us to bring in 2/3 quality League 1 players. Anyone seen a fee mentioned?

No. Brayford has had 2 injuries in the last 15 months that have put him out of the game for a considerable period of time.

That doesn't apply to every player on the books.

I don't think anyone would dispute that Brayford has never reached his level of pre injury performance.

It's more than not reaching the levels he hit pre injuries. He's actually been extremely poor a lot of the time. The amount of space on that right flank at times has been criminal, we conceded so many goals down his side last season. A lot more than McEveley's who got slated on here despite some pretty solid performances in the second half of the season.

I could never thank Brayford enough for what he did for us in 13/14 and he'll always be remembered for that season, but he just isn't doing it anymore. Hopefully one of two things happens, he can turn it around under Wilder and be as good as he can be or we get as much money for him as possible.

I feel a bit for bray in all this. No doubt his form has fallen off hopefully it returns. One thing for sure is he has our club at heart and we should be thankful of that.
If it was his choice to leave then he can have my best wishes. It would be an easy fix, bash could do the rb job easily and then get us the box to box battering ram we need in the middle.

Didn't Tufty completely knock this one on the head at the RS Manager's Forum last night?

No offers whatsoever apparently.

Well I don't care what people say about my 'judgement' of players with this one. I want to hang on to the beard. I believe his heart is in the right place (with the Blades) and that he wants to perform. He has been carrying that heavy price tag for nuff time now. Lets get him back to playing how he can. Under CW. I am sure he will once again show his worth. I believe that given time, he could become a legend at the lane.

Hopefully he's just been listening to "Let it Bleed" by the Rolling Stones.

If Brayford leaves i'll lose my shit. Back to his best this season that lad. Would prefer to lose Adams TBH.
