From what I've seen of Coutts, he's been our most talented player with the worst attitude. It's a tragic mix.

Blessed with a brilliant touch, skill and some brain at this level, most of the time he just looks like it's all too much effort. Is he frustrated with where he's found himself? Did he think someone would come and beg him to sign for them? Whatever his reasons, his talent remains and it looks highly unlikely he'll be going anywhere.

He'll not be first choice straight away but when he's on song, he's clearly got the ability for this level.

After predicting he'd be our best player last season, I don't feel qualified to judge, but I hear he's been getting more game time and doing alright.

So will he come good? Or have we pretty much seen the last of him?

I can't see Coutts complimenting Fleck myself but only time will tell. I reckon it'll be Basham alongside Fleck and with Wilder wanting another centre mid it seems that Coutts is set to move further down the pecking order. He'll no doubt end up at Burton!

Mr Clough came asking for his services the other week and was put off by the wages he was on and was told that he was in charge when he was put on them wages.

Lets just say he is on more than a ex Leicester player that has just departed.

Was told his wage but unfair to disclose.

Unfair in what way exactly?? I thinks it more unfair that he accepts a wage for the utter shit he puts into the club!!!!

He's got the technical ability and has looked good most of the pre-season.

Whether he's got the mobility and work rate Wilder's side will require remains to be seen... But if he hasn't he'll only be going one way.

Not sure he quite deserves a lot of the stick he gets.

He deserves more stick than he gets in my opinion. On a fantastic wage and puts in very little effort each game. I can handle players who don't have fantastic ability but make up for it with work rate, but players who have ability and can't be arsed really piss me off. Talent alone in football isn't enough.

Agree totally, a parasite who has contributed very little to our club - it should be a privilege to play for the Blades, a privilege that every person in this forum would give an awful lot for.

We need rid of these people.

Not a fan of Coutts but he did have a purple patch around December when Adkins started playing 2 banks of 4, then he got dropped for no apparent reason. If Wilder can get that level of performance out of him on a regular basis he'd be an asset for the team. For me this type of flatter to deceive scenario is no different to Basham. Couple of seasons ago he was brilliant against Barnsley at Oakwell but in midfield he get's no where that level of performance on a regular basis.

For me, I'd move Coutts on and only keep Basham as a fill-in, utility player covering at centre half, centre mid, even on the right side (in emergencies) for injuries, suspension and first team players that are out of form.

Unfair on the person who told him in confidence maybe?

So why do all but then?

So let me get this right....someone has told you Coutts is on more than Hammond was, and you believed it?

The same Coutts who was at Derby with Clough, and brought in at a time when Derby were still rebuilding their squad sensibly? And the same Hammond that came to us from the Premier league with a Premier league contract (35k a week at Leicester) that we were paying half of? Even his year deal was still double digit figures per week with appearances.

There really is some guff flying about regards budgets under Clough. Brayford was the only player where a strict wage ceiling was breached for while Clough was here.
Coutts may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he was brought in to do a specific job for a specific manager, on a decent wage for L1. Still doesn't warrant some of the bile being directed his way by some "fans" of our club.

Same fans may well be eating their words when Wilder has used Coutts a fair bit.....Wilder has after all been quite vocal in his praise of Coutts!

Generally doesn't work hard enough, but seems to have gotten his head down during pre season which is good to see

Coutts makes my blood boil I think injury has finished him but that's no excuse for his attitude and work ethic he loses the ball often caught in possession and I think opposing teams know he dallies on the ball and can't be arsed to track back his one positive is he can control a ball negatives weak,no pace, crap in the air, can't shoot, can't split defences with his passing, doesn't score goals he reminds of Butch Wilkins aka the crab short sideways passes all the time Baxter was ten times the player he'll ever be

Spot on ,nail on head.

As debuts go , that was terrible.

Said before, I'll say it again...Coutts is a very good player so long as play is within two square meters of himself....

He was nothing short of a disgrace last season and needs to be escorted out of the club immediately. I can't believe he's still here.

Do you think his workrate has been adequate over the last 2 years? Or maybe he just needs another pre-season. Has all the talent but you can't give him heart.

Just to clarify, you think Jose Baxter is a twat don't you!?
