Flynn to Oldham

Flynny was certainly inconsistent and had a few injury problems but when he was on it he was very good - Villa and Spurs cup games good examples. He was also played in a number of different positions which doesn't help, but overall not quite good enough.

Exactly, about one or two good games a season... Not enough if you are invisible for the rest of the season.

Good luck to him. He's found his level at last, which speaks volumes for the mediocrity we've becone accustomed to, and the incompetence of those who extended his deal.

His injuries seemed to magically disappear when his contract was coming to an end, which also coincided with him having an upturn in form. Oldham should of given him a month to month contract.

For the spell in the second half of Clough's first season he was brilliant with Brayford behind him. Just ultimately not strong or robust enough and lacking that extra bit of pace which would have compensated.

Gutted he never reached his potential. Remember seeing him play on loan at Wrexham from Liverpool as a youngster against Burton and he was outstanding, similar performane onnthe wing to Tonge's against Millwall many moons ago. Because of that I followed him and was excited when we signed him. Unfortunately (like Tonge actually) he'd gone backwards. Shame.

Good luck to him.

We always knew he would get another club.

Wish him all the best - always gave 100% effort..............

You talk a lot of sense but Flynn went on the missing list too much for me.
Thanks for the goal at Villa though.

Funny how clubs put a spin on new signings

"He excelled in Scotland, and in 2011, Sheffield United payed an undisclosed sum for the services of Flynn and he enjoyed five successful years with the Blades"

Unless we treated the deck of a ship to sign him, I'm pretty sure we paid an undisclosed sum.

In a squad full of wankers, Flynn was one of the very few who gave 100% and seemed a genuinely good guy. Good attitude in matches, good work ethic down the right and had some qualities, he was a good finisher and tracked back exceptionally well. Unfortunately for a winger his delivery was poor and he lacked the pace to beat a man and get to the by-line. He looked quite weak on the ball and was easy to bump off and he didn't have much bravery in possession in the final third. By no means a bad player at this level though, I wouldn't have minded keeping him as cover but his injury problems made it an obvious decision, we can't keep carrying guys like that. One of the few I'd wish the best of luck to though, along with Campbell-Ryce.
