Wilder quote in today's star

Robbie , take it from me it will happen under the current ownership who are going nowhere , the McCabes are too entrenched in the club both personally being Blades and financially .

I know we can all say a leopard never changes his spots , but the family have been told some home truths about the past and perhaps Wilder is the only bloke who could do it without getting the sack .

Ok he has a lot to prove and a difficult job on his hands , but the good starter for ten is that the McCabes and Wilder have great respect for each other , and are saying it how it is .

I don't think we will have to put a season aside for progression as it is happening now.

No idea what Prince thinks but must have the same mindset.

LBOS,

What home truths have they been told and how do they differ from all the other home truths of the past - "Mistakes have Been Made" (not "I've made mistakes", but there you go) - and what makes you sure this 4th fresh start/new approach - post Robson, relegation, the Yeovil Way, HRH - has anymore determination, consistency and longevity than the others?

I know we're bound inextricably and there's little point going over everything for the bazillionth time as everyone who has been round the block on here and elsewhere already knows everyone elses position, but I'm amazed how many times someone can sell tins of striped paint to the same customers time and time again.

Irrespective of personal viewpoints, we will, of course, get to see how things unfold over the next 10 months or so.

It's not what they say, it's what they do.

Every summer, or at least every summer we get a new "start", is exactly the same and until the talk is matched by the deeds then every summer will see the same thread (or 20 threads), going over the same ground, with the same people.
It's just an infinitely more interesting version of the 142 annual "Kit shit" threads.

At some stage we're going to have to just write off a season or two, plan and build. We appear to be in the worst financial position we have been in a long time.

We need to gradually build, in the same way Southampton did, investing in youth development and funding through selling (I know, but what option do we have?)

I'm afraid, I can't see this happening under the current ownership. They need to be honest for once and tell us we're utterly skint and need to basically live like a League 1 team for the first time. If they'd have come out at the start of the season and said this, there's much more chance we'd be more patient. I want to go up but I'll happily wait if I could see some form of long-term plan in place.

I thought that's what we did the last three seasons ........ wrote them off to rebuild o_O

We never had any chance of realistically competing so that's what I assumed ..... just that the "planners and builders" were shit !!!

Neither has money, or not selling their best players at an undervalue.

Odd how those with money bring in players with talent and play the game the right way. You'd think they'd know by now that HoofnHope is just as effective and pub players are so much cheaper...

Will they never learn?...

Apparently not. Leicester had the lowest pass completion rate in the PL and possession stats of just over 30% I think, last season.
Whereas Man U paid millions for skilful players and didn't even make the champions league places.

Funny how no-one mentioned Leicester before last season, isn't it? How are Bassett and Beck doing at Wimbledon and Cambridge?

What did Speed try to introduce at the Lane? Passing football?
How did it go?

You want Hoof? That's your choice. The vast majority prefer proper football. It's the way the great teams play. The ones that win trophies. The good news is that Hoof is available on a public park near you....

What is "hoof" please?

It still happened, whether anyone saw it coming or not.
