"I think by the time we go to Stocksbridge(sat July 9th) 2or 3 will have gone out,and 2 or 3 will have come in"
Worrying who will be leaving, and it still leaves us short in numbers if this is the case

As usual this is the lightening quick reporting by The Star, as Wilder made these comments last week. It they actually had their finger on the pulse a bit more maybe The Star, as opposed to the Liverpool Echo could have reported about DCL to Everton. Expect tomorrow for the star to say about DCL to Everton as if its an exclusive!

If they can provide him with courage brains and endeavour yes, but unfortunately he has all the tools but the mental ones
And a partner ,he had fucking Hammond alongside him don't forget ,when he had Brayford on the right he was so much better ,he has ability but I think you are right he has to improve his mental qualities.

Whoever goes for some fee, it won't get spent on the first team. Where did the murphy money go? on the wage budget according to McCabe. Don't get your hopes up if you think whoever we sell can get invested into team

So you don't think that paying the wages is investment in the team?

does it really
how many times has this cutlery shone when set out
relate to me the the tales of glory that DCL has given us

and because Adkins buying policy was pants
why is Wilder getting slagged off before the first pre season game
lets for once show a bit resolve and belief we might be doing something right

not run round waving our arms shouting were doomed like nutters
It's s not a case of when it has shone in the past but the glister it promises when polished. If money is not going back into the team to provide the players that we need (and in the opinion of some on here, it doesn't) and never will be until we get a change of owner, why cut off the only supply of promise that we have.

Slag Wilder off? Never! I might question why we don't have more players in by now but I am seriously happy that we have CW. That doesn't mean to say that I trust all that goes on behind his back.

Both DCL and Che have potential and yet, are not the finished article. A little bit of Wilder Polish and some confidence of playing in a winning team and hey! Who knows? Maybe holding on to them will engender some of that 'team spirit' that we all go on about being so important. If they improve sufficiently this season and we het promoted then we eother have players capable of making the step up or a valuable asset from a winning, promoted team that can command a proper fee. As of now, bearing in mind the performances, what figure are they really worth?

I couldn't see James Wallace in any of the training photos.

Don't tell me he's injured again.

I suspect he's sitting there with his hands out expecting some money before he wends his way.

Someone high up at Coventry told my mate in the executive boxes last April that none of the Coventry players were on £5K a week while we had at least 12 that are/were on £5K or more a week

Coutts is worthless. He can't run, shoot, or tackle. His passing is average and he's very highly paid in league one terms. He has a shocking injury record.

Anyone who signs him, yet alone pays money for him, wants their head examining.

Shhhhhh...fucking shut up, will you!

Nowt to see here, lads. Please have a good think about Couttsy for your club. You'd be getting a good, honest professional on your books with skill to boot :D

He has skill, strong on shielding the ball and plays good passes. I think he should play in CM. It wouldnt surprise me if Wilder and Knill sees how good he is in pre season and they may change their minds
I will bare my arse in the town hall steps.......

:)

And he runs like he has shit in his shorts.

For that reason alone...... get rid

I think Wilder's motivational skills are being exaggerated somewhat.

He's more chance raising the dead than getting a fully motivated, battling Coutts out there for 46 matches.

I wonder how long he can actually go without scoring too? You'd think as a midfielder who thinks defending is optional, he might at least have fluked one in by now. Even Woolford managed that!

I think Coutts, Wallce, and unfortunately one of Adams or DCL will leave, and we will bring 2 in, possibly one for a fee and one on a free.

Fancy Coutts to bring in 200k-300k

If we get £300K for Coutts, I'll build you a clock

We have seen nothing from DCL to show he will be a useful player.

"We"?

Speak for yourself mate, not the rest of us. I happen to think he's shown some qualities that indicate he could have a future, however I can't be confident either way as I haven't seen enough of him play: I suspect you haven't either.

Perhaps your critical analysis is worth more than that of an Everton scout?

The one who signed Terry Curran from us?

I think we should retain all our young players. Who knows when they might come good? I have taken this view since I first went to The Lane in 1964.

That means, on a ridiculously conservative estimate of 5 recruits a year, we should now have a squad of over 200 players, all home grown "ones of our own" brimming with potential.

Of course some of the young tyros would be over 70 years of age but in fairness some players are late developers and I, for one, refuse to give up on them, however clear it may be to others that these useless geriatric fuckers are actually useless youngsters grown-up.

I base my views on Everton scouts, Diego's Daft Dad and Oldham fans only. They are never wrong.

Givemarun. Keepemere. Keepemallere Keepemallereforever.

Ironside....... Ironside......

All this wisdom about Coutts from people who applauded the clown that was Montgomery for ten fucking ball-losing, pass-misplacing, foul-conceding, shadow-chasing, traffic-cone-impersonating years....
Coutts has got great technique, as good as I've seen in L1 but what does he contribute to a game? What do you think his best role is?

He hasn't contributed nearly enough for us but he was not fit when Clough signed him (he'd still be at Derby but for a long term injury).

If Tufty can get him fit and enthused he has the ability to to dictate play from central midfield. He would not be perfection, of course, but certainly the best we've presently got (yes, no great accolade, I know).

Coutts needs the whole team to play to suit his role. If we do that then there's a player there. Somehow I don't think a pedestrian, immobile slow, give-and-go player who never gets into the final third of the pitch will be in Wilder's vision. There is a player there, more for La Liga than EFL.1 though!!

Maybe Real will come in for him then?

I say this with the greatest of respect fella, but your appraisal of what's needed to get out of this division was shot to pieces years ago, and continually shot to pieces every year since.

I'm amazed you aren't prepared to move your stance, even slightly, given what's transpired since the club started following the path you argue for.

Coutts has some qualities, his passing is better than some on here give him credit for.

However to make up for deficiencies in his game the serious injury brought about he would need to be spraying it around like Glen Hoddle.

He lost two yards of pace since his Preston / early Derby days neshes challenges (possibly understandably) and can't seem to last 90 minutes.

I don't agree with Woody on this one. I think he has done (not often enough, I accept) some good stuff in the final third. If (much) fitter doubtless the glimpses of something special (by Div. 3 standards) would appear more often. I don't accept he's slow either. Again, in glimpses, we've seen reasonable pace. Sorry to return to one of my usuals, but he's quicker, stronger and passes better than Louis Reed.
