Risk for Everton? Have you not heard about the new Premier League TV deal?

Yes YES Blade , they can afford to take that risk but it's still a risk.
They're investing in the young lad's future and no matter how dosh you've got, you hope it'll come good...some on here don't rate the lad at all, so everyone's a winner eh?

Funny that - cos little over an hour ago he was still at the EIS in Sheffield after the boxing session - see top right - so either he's some kind of superman (in which case we need to keep him!) or this is a bit premature of (dare I say) typical "ITK" postings based on today's reports!!?? Hmmm...
Its possible that like other industries, the medical can be done elsewhere... He might be having it at a private hospital in Sheffield for example, before heading over to Liverpool later

His career could go either way, some great performances for the 18/21s, but has struggled after stepping up.
Doesn't always look like he wants it enough sometimes.

Great move for all concerned.

Exactly, it's a risk in the same way as it's a risk for me to buy a packet of Space Raiders from the shop, fuck all. Money in football is going mad.

IF this is £1million and is used to fund the reported 500k McFadzean and 400k Leon Clarke then great move for all

As we know, Everton won't transfer £1m to our bank account, it's be half that at best with the rest dependant on appearances, goals, playing for England, becoming world player of the year etc etc.

Fair play, he was wank anyway.

Mate totally respect you're view but he's not wank hes young and clearly Everton have seen something that they like and who knows how it will go. Personally I don't like to see promising youngsters leave, but my guess is Wilder allowed this sale as we have 5 forward as it stands and he hasn't got a target man in that list meaning we'll have 6 unless someone leaves. Something had to give. Thought it might be Done but it seems it'll be DCL and maybe even Adams! We do know he was at training today though as was DCL.

Is that a serious post or are you creating discussion ? If not it just shows how far apart peoples opinions can be. Personally I think DCL is conference level ,and Adams could be Championship. What have you seen in Dcl to suggest he could be a very good player ?

Of course it's a serious post. It's not like Adams is a superstar is it?

My opinion is based more on a lack of belief in Adams than rating DCL highly - although I do think he has potential and if Everton are interested I'm prepared to read quite a bit into that too. He looks like someone who'll develop into a good all round athlete with good agility, and he's shown that he can score goals.

Adams has got slower, it could simply be a case of natural physical development but it's not good that he's bulking up and losing pace. His attitude and application is extremely questionable. He struggles with a lot of the basics of the game, mentally and technically, and I don't think he's intelligent enough to improve to the level we like to think he can get to.

As it stands I don't have either Adams or DCL down as starters going into next season. Both are expendable, but I'd rather gamble on DCL's potential than Che's - and we'd probably receive a bigger transfer fee for Adams.

Fair point, I didn't think that's what the OP suggested (or was insinuating) however, sure it said "At Everton"?

Don't doubt that this could and probably will be happening, just seemed that again another ITKer was posting something aimlessly on the reports rather than knowing anything concrete, obviously could turn out to be bang on the money, but again I do doubt they'd have the medical here when it would be much more sensible to get the lad across, in their own time and see him first hand (no rush after all as its out of the season).

We will see. Personally I'm in two minds, not seen anything to suggest he's worth £1m yet, -and didn't even see him getting much games this year ahead of bully, Che (if here), sparky, done etc, but that money is also nothing for a PL to risk on a young lad with potential. £2m would be a no brainier but £1m may only just get us 1 player through the door (McFazdean?) after fees and wages...

Easy this management lark!...

DCL was terrible so all this seems extremely strange. As said above though, the money won't be re invested on transfer fees so it's largely pointless but pretending we will for a moment, great deal for us.

Not been on here long, but already noticed you are a bit of a tit.
How much more of the lad have you seen than anyone else? Particularly Everton?

I guess you must be very highly regarded in the pro game!? Or perhaps just a twat.

How can you say he was terrible for fecks sake....,can't shake your head enough about some people.

Well I hope we get a good fee and reinvest it but anyone writing DCL off doesn't really know what they're talking about. We've seen nowhere near enough of him at first team level to write him off. He's done well in the U21s, he's scored goals at Northampton, and is clearly someone who'll develop into a good all round athlete, he's a natural footballer from a physical point of view. And I doubt a club like Everton would want him if he's 'wank'.

Can't be right, how many on here insist he's "wank" to quote them?

Back here on loan perhaps.

Get a sell- on clause fgs.
I've watched him for a few years Woody and I rate him, technically very good and a good athlete also 6 ft 2
needs time to develop as although he's a big lad he is still a bit lightweight ( he will fill out). disappointing to lose him as he in my opinion is going to be a good player,
Everton seem to have a good scouting network in south Yorkshire as they picked up John Stones as well who is going to be sold again for big money ( add Jag, s to the other two). we are sitting ducks while we are in this division, premier clubs will cherries pick our good young players Good job Ramsdale is under contract as he is on the Premier shopping list.
it's important rams is involved with the 1st team as his agent would whisk him away to a premiership team if he wasn't.while in this division as I stated our young players

There's one word in that statement that's bang on the nail .

Hmmm.....I'm pretty sure a medical can be done anywhere, and not just at the Everton training ground.

Good luck to him though, all the years of hard work and sacrifice as a kid have paid off for him to the tune of a million pounds minimum!

The last word should have been vulnerable!!

More and more young academy players will be snapped up by premiership clubs , they have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Money is no object so a dud player every so often can be absorbed .

DCL to me is Tranmere or Marine level , not someone to be part of a league 1 side desperately chasing promotion.

Good luck to the lad and Everton .

More and more young UK kids whether good , average or bad will be hoovered up by premiership clubs.

There is so much money swilling around , a million quid in the premiership is on par with a hundred quid in league 1. . If the kid makes it great , if not , what has been lost , nothing.

Commodity market of players , especially when some in the Chelsea academy are on reputed £10K a week.

Only a small percentage work out . My view let's take the money and build a promotion league 1 side.

As a parent of a child at an academy, and approaching his last year before youth deals are considered I certainly hope my lad is hoovered up like you mention if those figures are right. I consider him an average centre half at a below average academy being realistic, but he's had a run in the reserves and youth team so you never know I guess, if his face fits! (He's pretty quick which apparently is what everyone wants these days)

It really is crackers, no wonder England has a football team with no world class quality in it.

:) Sorry - It was an extremely tongue in cheek comment, intentionally without the smiley to get a reaction, taking the mickey out of some of the knee jerk reactions on here.

I don't actually think i've seen him play. For the record, I'm sure he's a talented lad and wish him all the luck if he does move. Whilst we're in the third division, selling talented players for the right money (hotly debated) is what will contribute to us progressing

We need to get out of this league.

We can wait for players to develop when we are established back in the championship
