McCabes comments re lack of due diligence in player purchases resonates in my memory. I thought the Technical Board was put in place to stop this sort of crap. Clearly it failed. Good luck to those who tried but weren't good enough or fit enough (Kennedy and possibly Flynn) and sod off to the rest of them.

Positives - 90% of the shite gone.
Would have kept freeman and K Wallace bit the bloated slow squad had gone
Will never have to see jay's pathetic face again.
Should be plenty of new players here

Negatives
Hammond obvs - sooner Adkins gets a new job and build a shit team around him the better

When I said this on Tuesday (on the other thread about the released list), I wonder if I was closer to the truth than I realised?

"....Makes me wonder..... "Sunjihai" on here had mentioned Wilder was coming in a while ago. Could it be that the deal for him to come to SUFC had been in the bag for a few weeks and he and Knill have already been lining players up and deciding who was on the way out?

Sounds a bit far fetched but if the rumours of widescale butchery are true, I assume he has people waiting in the wings?....."

Lol, play the kids! Far better than having to endure more from the wasters Chris has had to shovel out of the building!

In a way, I'm more stunned by the transfer listings than the released list. True "new broom" stuff.

Not that that definitely means the end of the road for all of them - witness John Joe O'Toole's resurrection for Northampton last season. But they'll have to earn it - & have any of them seriously got the heart to do so? Don't think so.
The problem is that the kids are shite too.

I think the Technical Board was probably put in place when the clause in Hammonds contract came to light so it would be a bit harsh to blame them for that situation.

Well done Chris Wilder.a good start with a stiff broom sweeping away a lot of debris
Why was Adkins unable to start his reign with such decisiveness we could ask. Augers well for the future

Everything other than the Hammond news is good news. Says something about a man that is not wanted opting to take up a permanent deal but I guess it's understandable. It's more bewildering that someone at the club agreed to it!!!!

I can just imagine the reception Hammond will get at the club next season.

I think the main difference is that Wilder's "clean slate" lasted all of about 30 seconds, then he made a decision.

Right then now this is done with. Who are we getting in!!?

Has Adkins got the Charlton job yet? Then he can sign Hammond on a free transfer for them. Otherwise, Hammond needs to be sent to assist it the ticket office or the club shop. Train him to iron the letters and numbers on the new kit or summat?
Fuck Hammond, free transfer, stick a price on his head, if no one comes in for him,let him rot.

It ain't greed to ensure you get paid. We shouldn't have put the clause in. He hasn't done anything wrong here the blame is all on the club.
He's hardly on the fucking breadline.. What sort of scum does that when he know he's not only unwanted by the fans, but totally hated

I'm generally speaking absolutely delighted with Wilder's much-needed decimation if the squad. And hopefully we will move the rest on.

I'm not annoyed with Hammond per se, but I'm actually pretty angry with Adkins for lying when saying no deals had been offered to any players, when actually it had been agreed before hand. Totally disingenuous.

Whoosh!

Someone has had an irony by pass.

Did you think the one about spiking his drink was serious as well?

Hey, stop now, towd Bert once had a serious episode in t'spoon's where his tipple was laced.with Sanatogen...he hasn't been the same since ...

Nobody is going to pay Hammond the same or more than what he's on now.

He's waiting out his contract here unfortunately, despite knowing the manager, the fans and probably the board don't want him here.

A greedy bastard putting himself and his pocket before the club, basically.

He needs to be told to stay as far away from Shirecliffe and the Lane as possible.

The last thing we want is his greedy mindset around the existing squad and the new players Wilder brings in.

Seriously Barney ... If some mug offered you a contract like the one our board offered Hammond, would you turn it down?

Money for old rope...it's the board/whoever agreed to this needs looking at...and, I'm guessing they're long gone..

Good work Tufty.

That cull might just sell a few season tickets.

Now let the man build his squad & let's stop trying to tell him who we'd sign.

True, but on the basis the clause allowed him to extend or for us to activate an extension on similar terms isn't this just business?

Crikey, if he had scored ten goals and carried all before him I reckon this thread would have a different tune after a championship club came calling and he left for zip.

I think the Hammond situation sums up football in general, in what other career would there be a contract extension clause that the only one that can invoke it is the employee and not the employer, absolute madness:mad:
