He's not as tanned as Adkins. I like a manager to be orange.
It does worry me slightly that McCabe was banging on about the academy a lot in the press conference. We obviously need to bring through the youngsters but I hope it isn't to fill in the gaps following a poor summer of recruitment.
Has anyone seen or heard from WHF in the last few days? Conspicuous by his absence.
Hopefully not! They've had chances to impress and not took them. Diego will be next on the "lets give him another go" express.Hopefully his next move will be to bring Scougall, McNulty and Freeman back into the fold. These are good young players with the potential to improve, unlike the likes of Hammond and McEverley.

Hope it's only the club captain's job for Sharp. For team captain we want an uncompromising centre back who's going to organise, motivate and dish out the necessary bollockings. Centre forwards can be too isolated at times and don't rarely suit the armband.
Well that tells me we are keeping our contracted shite.
Tuftys mistakes so far:
Sharp captain
Letting Knill wear a blue suit ( even though it's the only one he's got)
McCabes patsy as promotion through the play offs will be acceptable.
His comments on the retained list prove he's going to keep some of the shite because he used the word surprise
Willing to hold a crap scarf
Any more?
Exactly this. We look on enviously as clubs like Burton and Walsall finish above us, and they had a fraction of our budget.
High wage availability brought us some right old shite in past.
I now Im going to get hammered for this but actually some of the player we have got and just out of contract are good enough to get us out of this division. What we really lacked last year was management ,they had no pattern or formation to follow ,no motivation ,everything was off the cuff ,no direction no team spirit ,all in all , shit management. With a few good additions a good manager could galvanise (Wilder word) this squad and endeavour (Adkins) to take us up. Personally I think Wilder is the man to do this.
Knill's record as a manager is pretty poor, isn't it? Mind you, many good assistants make bad managers.
Ever so sorry but that information hasn't been made public. You can generally tell how much a manager has had to spend. Clough a lot, most of which he pissed straight down the drain. Adkins not as much, but still a fair whack, enough to see progress on 5th and enough to see that an 11th placed finish was pretty diabolical.
£1.5M is the figure of Adkins' total outlay on player fee and wages from one "ITK"' on this board. And this wasn't factoring in Conor Sammons wages either, who was supposedly the highest earner at the club. Excluding Sammon, this comes out at just over 4k per week for Hammond, Edgar, Sharp and Woolford. To me, even that seems on the low side with what Hammond and Sharp were/are supposedly on. Edgar won't have been on much less.
If he makes good use of the free transfer market, he might not need much more than that. However, if he spends a few fees on a few promising youngsters from leagues one/two for example, he's probably going to need a bit more. So if he's going to be on less of a budget than Adkins, it's still possible but as I say, much harder with the amount of players he's going to need to bring in. McCabe is probably still deluded enough to be peddling this 50% academy player line. Hopefully Wilder will let him know how much bollocks he's spouting on that one.
Not during the Clough and Adkins tenures I don't believe he was.
Even after selling Murphy, the outlay Adkins sanctioned should have been enough to see progress on 5th. This has been repeatedly explained to you. Even using your bizarre argument, Adkins should have finished 5th then, should he not?It also depends on whether he has to generate it himself with players sales and moving players off the wage bill like Adkins did.
Nope. Walsall gave their previous manager 2.5 months and a full 16 games. They also didn’t sack every manager after two minutes and each manager was a good fit to replace the previous one. Wallsall even managed to hang onto all their best players for about two years now.
He’s got a bit of a double chin. I don’t like that in a manager.

Been talking to one of the sponsors today ,he told me the relationship between Adkins and the players was horrendous. He was a very arrogant man who thought he was above everyone and talked down to everyone including sponsors ,he says he was a very difficult man ,but the manager/coach relationship with the players had broken even with Billy Sharp which I am glad about because I thought Sharp would be some sort of teachers pet with him ,but he reckons Billys relationship with the other players is very good.

Anyone with two eyes and a brain can see how "Adkins raised his own funds" is not a sufficient excuse for an 11th placed finish in division three. Even using the argument, he should have finished 5th - which is still a 6 place underachievement. This has been tediously spelt out to him on many occasions."Explained to you"
How utterly patronising.
It's an angle and opinion constantly pushed by you and your fickle side kick BTL, the loudest mouths not to attend football matches.
You've not even any idea how much he's had to spend!
You really have no place "explaining" anything to anyone.

Basically, yes. It's a different job. It needs strategic thinking, the ability to judge and recruit players and to man manage them and the ability to think quickly to make in game decisions under pressure. Why is it that good coaches/ assistants often make poor/average managers? Heath, Weir, Blackwell to some extent. I can only assume it’s because they have a good knowledge of the game, tactical awareness etc. but have all the charisma of a tea bag when it comes to trying to inspire others.
Someone else on here earlier posting similar comments. It's starting to sound like he wasn't the right man. There's no potential logical explanations to be offered. No one is excusing where we finished, but are offering potential logical explanations.
You're "he had more than enough money to improve" from the comfort of your living room, is just bullshit.

It's just piss poor management on the whole.
