The issue remains last season we needed 1 quality touch to take control of a pass and to move, this time around we need 2 - the opposition realised pressure us and we lose composure and panic.
For me the faults lay with the coaching staff in not coaching the 1 quality touch, not having a plan B , not having the youngsters ready to pressure the first team and for the turd who walked away at the wrong time.

We create a great chance but the ball falls to Stevens who makes a limp wristed attempt, though probably no worse than anything our so called strikers could muster. No sooner do we miss do Wolves go down the other end, create pretty much the same opening that we did and promptly put it into the net. Killer instinct, even from also ran teams at this level. We probably only create one good chance each game and we usually balls it up so yet again it's Sheffield United - 0.

Opposition all season have only needed to score once then it's time for pipe, slippers, a whisky and relax in front of the fire.

Totally agree with your comment regarding close -control of the ball. Ours is average to poor, even Didzy more often than not over runs the ball. Likewise Osborn for all his effort his ball control is weak. We can’t seem to make the ball stick. I suppose that’s the difference between quality Premiership players and ours.

Sums up the cul-de-sac of where the evolution of the system has taken us. We removed the 'Duffy role' in favour of a deep lying QB (the 'Norwood role') but haven't evolved any further. Looking at the players, one assumes our evolution was going to come from having pacey, mobile, aggressive strikers...

I think Fowler had already got a 30-goal season under his belt by the time he was Brewster's age, possibly even two. By the time he was 22, he had scored 30+ three seasons running. Brewster is 21, and if he gets 30+ in a Premier League season before 23 it won't be with us!

And some pace. The slow ponderous nature of our midfield means we always give the opposition chance to get back and get into shape. Arguably signing Berge only made this worse and once Lunny threw his toys out of the pram we effectively lost any sort of midfield able to break and support the strikers. We desperately need a more mobile midfielder for next season.

I think our heroes, are just that, they give their all but if the core background is one of playing way beyond their capabilities, then their individual shortcomings have to be coached up. If not then at least the crowds can push them on as a team. The next manager has got to take the technical ability up a notch.
