I feel a bit for Brewster because we create absolutely nothing from midfield (or indeed anywhere else) for our strikers. It must be lonely up there.

He must know that by now though and appreciate that he's got to work extra hard to be available when we do have the ball, to be ready to show early, bully defenders and generally make things happen.

I just don't see him doing that though in the same way that Billy can, and still does at times.

He still looks like he won a competition to play, which is very frustrating.

I was going to say it's a bit like your old faithful dog finally being put down.. But it isn't like that at all, it was a dog who bit the neighbours kids, shat all over the house, ate the sofa and pissed on your duvet... It was a bad dog that had to go!
not the only bad dog that's destined for euthanasia though in the coming days. You know, just in case you're a pig and all that

Watching us this season is reminiscent of a 7 a side game in which the players who are decent at defending seem to be on the end of all chances and the bog lining good finishers are the ones being asked to do all the tackling. Now in most peoples eyes that would be called fluid football, unfortunately for us we don’t have players that are premier league level all rounders and in reality neither do some of the top six.

We’ve burnt bright for 5 years, lets hope theirs still fuel for the fire.

Piss poor signings / piss poor squad construction leaving us playing Osborn as a number 10. that’s enough to get you relegated from the championship, never mind the prem.

Relegation has come without even a shrug - it’s such a shame give what this team were capable off

The system needs ripping up. 70% of our final ball and attacking play is delivered by defenders, Baldock is a great fullback but utter shit going forward.
Next season I'd expect Bogle to take his place and RND on the other flank, that's assuming we stick with the 3-5-2. If not then Baldock will be fine as a full back and probably a wing back in the league below.

I think we'll see a lot more creavitiy with Bogle and RND, and no doubt more from our centre mids and they'll be new blood in there which is much needed.

Sums up the cul-de-sac of where the evolution of the system has taken us. We removed the 'Duffy role' in favour of a deep lying QB (the 'Norwood role') but haven't evolved any further. Looking at the players, one assumes our evolution was going to come from having pacey, mobile, aggressive strikers...

Look how it's all turned out...

Like a wet fart that has run down our legs and is now crusting over on our best socks and suade loafers...
Duffy was absolutely perfect for that role. Even in L1 and the championship we looked a totally different side when Duffy wasn't in the team. Even then we really struggled to create much without him.

I'm not saying Duffy would have cut it the PL, but even in the early days the system required certain players for it to be effective.

several times we had four down the right and just McGoldrick in the middle, with three around him. Each time we tried to cross the ball into him.
This is the problem and has been for ages. We're way to rigid, regimented and predictable in our attacking play. We overload the flanks, have 4/5 players out on the wing and 1 player in the box.

We either give the ball away, or cross to nobody.

We didnt sign any PL quality - we lost it in Hendo and JOC and didnt replace them, let alone add extra quality. F*cking wank transfer window given the money spent.
