You're the Chairman, what do you do?

£4-5m should do it. The money that should have been spent this summer, in fact.

If I were chairman Id sit back and let Wilder get on with it , farm out a few not needed bring in who he wants knowing he wont ask the earth and look forward to counting the tv money next season and take all the plaudits for doing very little

I have a hunch ( ;) ) that anyone thinking there will be more than the odd million available at Christmas will be very disappointed.

We should make any plan based on significant investment only coming when / if new ownership arrives.

The reality is that, unless we are promoted, we will need to sell Brooks in the summertime in order to restructure. Until then, it’ll be little more than making do with what we’ve got, plus perhaps a couple of players of Leonard’s ilk. That’s probably no bad thing either.

UTB

You're dragging up an article from 2010 to support your claim that McCabe has been trying to flog the club ever since? Despite the subsequent investment from the Prince?

They're coming out of the woodwork now.

Well speaking personally, if I were the chairman I'd annexe the Sudetenland.
Sorry but I just couldn't resist a bit of Python to that question.

Why wouldn't ya? There's a lot at stake in football today with the state of the economy as it is lately, it's an expensive toy. How many people have called for McCabe to go over recent years and just because we're winning at the moment everything has changed? Personally, I think a change at the top is needed, maily because he's been here a bit too long, but not right now when we're busy challenging. Have we really seen the prince never mind any investment from him. I'm also dubious of the term investment and yet some of our fans still slag teams that have spent heavily. For me, it has to be the right amount in the right areas, which we seem to be doing ok at at the moment

Yep, a keen eye and caution needed

Give Wilder the money to find a replacement for Coutts. Maybe a loan will fix it, but it’s needed.
Then a striker. What happens if we get an injury to Clarke? The subs aren’t going to have the same impact for sure.

If I was the chairman:

1. Give him the fee needed to secure CCV until the end of the season.
2. Make an early statement ‘We will not consider any offers for Brooks or any of our key players’
3. Stick to the statement
4. Provide Chris with sensible funds to recruit in key areas.
5. Free up some additional cash for a ‘special signing’ if one can be identified (either a coutts type in MD, or Striker)

From who’s bank account?
Mine if he's that desperate. I'll forego the new bike until the summer :D
I have a hunch too that there's money there if CW needs it, perhaps not a vast amount but CW's said before he'll not put the clubs future in jeopardy finance wise, I take that as he'll not spend more than we have got.
My comment "whatever he asks for" is based on it being not a lot,or more than we can afford.
I also think Brooks will still be here beyond the August 2018 transfer window.....another hunch ;)

Hanson out. Carroll in. Not gonna happen but could do if we go up.

Think Leonard or equivalent is top of the list now.

Cole will sign too no doubt

A Striker is important ... we need to remember before the pigs game we had no fit strikers and Evans hobbling around ineffectively up front... seems like an age ago now but Clarke and Brooks did the business and the season took off.
Not sure how we would be going if Billy and Leon got injured but knowing Chris he'd probably have Bash or Lavery up there playing off Duffy & Books and we'd still be banging them in
Then there's Donaldson and Hanson ... neither really had much of a chance so not sure if they can do an effective job for the champions elect ;)

If I was chairman one thing I would be doing in January is holding onto Brooks even if the rumoured £20m offers come in. Whether we go up or not, there's obviously something special about Brooks and he will only get better, so it could be £30m at the end of the season...

If Brooksy goes (and I can't believe we haven't included a sell-on clause in his latest contract) there's nothing we can do. It's football. The two teams rumoured to be after him are Spurs (who could well lose Kane, Alli and Pochettino) and Liverpool who have consistently lost their better players in recent years - Coutinho will probably be next. DB will have to add a lot more to his current CV to get anywhere near figures of £20m.

Sorry to be so 'down' but it won't do anyone any good - if Brooks goes - by directing fire at McCabe. Only he knows the losses he's supported down the years

You think an injury prone player on 80k a week is the way we'd go?

Don't think Wilder will.

,Jack Wilshere on a season long loan

He doesn't work north of Watford. A typical soft Southerner who knows only too well that it is grim up North. He'd be like a more injury prone Lee Hendrie, but without the committment.

Hanson out. Carroll in

FFS! The celebrity fawning idiot has just christened his poor kid 'Wolf Nine Carroll'. That is the degree of Knobheadosity we are dealing with here. Even the CheatinAmmers fans recognise his general crapness and lack of effort. He is so far from being a CW type player it is untrue.

The owners have already said that if we're in with a Promotion or Relegation chance by January that funds would be available for Wilder. Whether Wilder chooses to spend that money then comes down to him
I don't think wilder will go daft and keep the wage structure has it is if he brings players in they will probably be from the championship or lower league, he knows if we go up we can't compete with the big time charlies up there, we would have a good chance of staying up with him in charge but doing another Leicester would be unlikely.

Wilder bought Hanson to do a job last season. If we have to change tactics to a similar type again, the best two players in the premier league to do that are Crouch and Carroll.

P.S. Poor timing, but Coutts was injury prone before Wilder came in.

Look how crap Jordan Rhodes is in the wrong team. Rhodes would score shit loads if he played for us. So too would Carroll.

He'd want to check the photographer's lenses were correctly positioned before he'd attempt to acore though.

I can't believe how that beast of a prospect that gave Morgs such a hard time in 2009, has become a media fawning 'celeb' (in his own mind). Made of chocolate too, so only good for 8-10 games per season. And the stupid pony tail/alice band haircuts.

Not for me, friend and fortunately, I'd suspect not one for CW either.

Before everyone gets all giddy about who we're going to sign, one for all the academy team watchers - who's next off the production line?

Makes for a great debate just slagging off anyone mentioned without coming up with suggestions of your own.

Isn't Carroll basically Higdon with a top knot.
