Your First BDTBL Sheffield Derby.....

January 1965. Birchenall and Matthewson scored for us, Fantham (2) and Hickton for them
 



First one I remember going to worst luck was Boxing Day 79.

The return match as per Lydon's OP was 1-1 where that twat Curran cut in from the left wing and scored that poxy equaliser to pull them level

Best one for me was at the sty when we turned the over confident wankers over 3-1 and new loanee Bobby Davison became an instant overnight legend :)

Loved that night because not least I was sat with Blades on their North Stand. Didn't get a peep out of em all neet :D

Lost 1-0 think it was Jim McCalliog scored at Bramall Lane end where i was stood.
 
The Whitehouse, Deane game was my first at BDTBL. My main memory is an overwhelming sense of relief. I still don't really look forward to derby games, there's just too much at stake.

First time against them lot was a game in the Zenith Data Systems Cup in either 89 or 90 at Stadio Porco - the first and last time I've walked into that place. A nothing game in the overall scheme of things but because we hadn't played them for many years, thousands turned up and they were crowing about their (narrow) win afterwards right up to the aforementioned 2-0.

Ehh Bobby Davison what a night that was , took a month to get my voice back ! Wonder what Bobby's doing now ?
 
Saturday 3rd October 1970. I was a completely overawed 14 old kid from Donny, standing on the Kop with a couple of mates. The surge down the steps when we scored was utterly incredible. It scared the bejasus out of me at first; but I soon learned how to love it, how to surf it.

Anyway, we won that game 3-2. John Tudor scored the winner through Peter Grummitt’s legs or off his backside or something. And the rest, as they say, is history. Nearly 50 years of it.

Blimey.
 
2-0 in 91. I'd never experienced an atmosphere like it. First experience of the feeling sick, worrying they would score every time they attacked, suddenly hating people for wearing blue.

And my main memory is Jamie Hoyland playing a 50 yard back pass to Simon Tracey late on. No idea why

I hate derby day while it happens but I love it when we win

Mine was November, 1991. Won 2-0 which nobody gave us a chance of. We'd started the season poorly, I think they were third. Great atmosphere, freezing cold day. Warhurst and Sheridan clattering each other and Dane Whitehouse scoring in front of the Kop. Deane slotting the ball through Chris Woods' legs in front of the grunters. Incredible day.

 



i will join the growing club on here because also for me it was the 2000 derby at bramall lane I believe 1-1 & a bobby ford penalty in front of the kop on sky sports if I'm correct & if ive got my years right it has 1 thing in common with Friday night, It was also at the time the 1st derby at bramall lane for 6 seasons 93/94 - 00/01

& its my 9yr old nieces 1st derby on Friday night, she been going since 2013 1st game david weir opener v notts county. telling her how special its going to be & bigger than cup games v Tottenham, Southampton & Hull

We took the lead with a Bobby Ford pen and just as it looked as though we were getting on top, they got a spawny goal, seem to recall one of theirs had a shot from outside the box and it took a deflection, wrong footing (must have been) Simon Tracey.

I seem to think it was a normal 3pm kick off (could be wrong), only sticks in my mind as my dad had had cancer surgery that week and went up to visit him at the Hallamshire after the game. The other thing that stuck in my mind with that day was walking down London Road after (on the way to the hospital, wasn't supping, hadn't had a drink, obviously had other more important things on my mind) the atmosphere was well moody with our fans and plod. As I was walking across the road, probably just up from Candy Town (Chinese), a rozzer on a horse decided I wasn't crossing ... "I'm going to hospital, I'm crossing road pal", at which point plod took the horse over my foot. It f***ing hurt and with what was happening with my dad I was at losing it point, turned around to have a go at the copper and just at that moment a well known BBC lad stepped in and stole my thunder, something along the lines of "you clumsy c***, watch what you're doing with that horse". I've got to say I'm glad he did step in that day because I reckon I might have ended up getting nicked.

No County Cup matches at the Lane between the sides until the 1975-76 season (there were two plus a Benefit match for Harry Latham that season)

I reckon it was the Badger testimonial.
 
My first one was Gerry Young's testimonial in April 1970. I was in the Kop on the right of the photo. Our scorers were Dearden, Currie and Staniforth in the 3-3 draw

Mine was the 1-1 draw in 92/93 - televised on Sky. Littlejohn backheel for us in front of the Kop, Hirst equaliser.

Reckon Friday is my 6th derby (league & Cup) and yet to see us win one - fingers crossed...
