Young players

Totally agreed with this although the "AI signings" were a bit left field as some might say, if they would have paid off it would have been a stroke of genius. But Ayew will be gone in the summer, just looking at LW that are on the free market Serbian international Nemanja Radonjić shown in the below, he has pace, trickery, a wiliness to beat players with a good shot on him too. He has played in Europe in Champions League qualifiers and later Europa League. He has 46 caps for Serbia with 5 goals and another thing is he is 6ft which would add another threat to the left wing. Still only 30, although not classed as young he has that experience plus potentially another 5 seasons.

We should have enough self awareness of our current situation to know we aren’t going up this season. Once we accept that, we need a plan in place to build a promotion team within an achievable timeframe e.g. next season or the one after.

The question we should then be asking with any signing should be “will he help us achieve our promotion goal?”. If the answer is no, then we don’t sign him.

The player you suggest could fall into that category, 30 year old on a two year deal with a third year option could make sense.

Signing 30 year olds on loan or on one year deals is only going to make us weaker in the long run. The summer signings aren’t what’s best for United, they’re what’s best for Wilder. He can come away claiming he did a good job under the circumstances whilst the owners take all the blame.

If Wilder really cared about United he’d be trying to build for the future, whether that’s to his benefit or another manager’s. If the owners had a clue they wouldn’t allow the short sighted transfer dealings we had this summer.

It's difficult to build for the future when he has no budget to pay a transfer fee. Additionally he may have been told not to commit to high earners past the end of this season.

It's incredible that anyone would criticise the academy given we have 6 graduates in the first team squad and the U21s won their league 3 years in a row.

The problem is more that so many have broken into the first team, there's now a bit of a gap between the next set of prospects. All of our top prospects (Giggs, Sidibe, Beattie, McGlinchey) are still 1-2 years away from being ready. It's just how it goes. We can't crank out first teamers every single season. We have more academy graduates than pretty much every team in the division. The academy really isn't the problem here.

We also need a clearer strategy for the club as a whole that has to include youth development (as well as far smarter scouting but that's another story).
We had Arblaster and Peck come through two or three years ago and since then very little other than One on the fringe. We have to do better.
What about Brooks? Seriki? Ndiaye? Lankshear? Osula? They're all academy graduates in the last 4 years who have gone on to become established Championship or Premier League players. How exactly could we 'do better' than that?

Please stop commenting on a topic you clearly have little to no idea about.
