Writing McBurnie off after starting in 5 games

We’re not creating chances for him. Simple as that.
As for Mousset, at the moment I still think he looks a little heavy across the middle and probably only 70% match fit. Playing him against fresh defenders from the start would see him lose some effectiveness while he’s not 100%.
Wilder knows what he’s doing, there’s one or two that could start popping up and getting game time soon.
Freeman has such good ability to deliver a cross and a pass I think we need someone like him on the ball. He’s totally different to Fleck and Norwood. He gets into the position Fleck did against Liverpool he’s burying it!!
So my point is it’s not as simple as changing out the forwards. We’ve amended the style of play and gone flat in midfield, losing that link we havd for 3 years with the forwards. I would like to see us bringing that back into our game, but that would mean losing some protection for the defence from midfield!
So it’s risk and reward? Or risk and conceding too many??!
Glad I don’t have to make those decisions

Whether it be McB on his own or McB with one of the others or one of the others on their own or one of the others with another of the others, someone has to start being a reliable goal scoring threat, sooner rather than later. If not, we need to bring someone in in the JTW who is. Otherwise it’s going to be an extremely tight remaining 30 games.

I am!
He reminds me of Jon Stead, another striker we signed with high hopes but in the end finally found his level at Notts County!

Jon Stead got about 5 in 15 for us in the Prem, vastly exceeded expectations, and was very good for us. Steadinho never let us down – if McBurnie has a Stead-like season for us I’ll be perfectly happy with that.

But also agree Robinson looks a little lost for long periods in the middle.
I think he’s definitely suited wide with the ball played into him with space so he can run at full backs, cut inside, switch flanks, get to the byline and cross.
Plus we have to control the ball better in midfield so those balls forward to our £20m striker aren’t travelling so far, and getting up there closer to him. He’s far too isolated, and I think Wilder knows this and is trying to put it right.
Midfield balance is key. Maybe we need to sit Norwood deeper and push two on from midfield? Drop Lunny/Norwood and pop Freeman/Didsy in there? (Fleck is left footed so it’s safer of the three IMHO)

Fair point; Stead scored 5 goals more than I can see McBurnie scoring for us this season!
That said, Stead was another light weight striker who failed to deceive!
I still find it funny that he's listed as being 6'3", yet at 6'2" I towered over him! 🤔

He needs to get rid of that bloody beard for a start. He’ll come good once that’s done.
It's the air drag effect, it's slowing him down.....good job Spits and Hurris didn't have beards, I am praying he will come good at the right time and I think he will.

I don't give a monkeys who's up front so long as their scoring goals at home, because although I can't fault the defence away it doesn't seem a good idea to bank on our away form to keep us up .

Only dem Blades fans eh.

How about we play him alongside his most suited strike partner in Mousset, instead of Robinson, who is clearly a winger and not a striker.

I really do not know how Mousset is not starting games by now, it's getting silly.

Give him a run of consistent starts alongside McBurnie, I'm confident that's the best option.

What's not the best option is to panic and go back to Sharp and McGoldrick. Though they did very well in the Championship, play Championship strikers and that's where we'll end up. 90% of this forum, if asked before the season, would not have been happy with the prospect of keeping the same forwards. People wanted new strikers, Wilder got them.

One hasn't been given a run of starts despite showing that he is every bit deserving of it.

The other, McBurnie, has seemingly been written off by many after 8 games, 3 of which he didn't even start in.

We got these strikers for a reason. First we must actually play them (consistently), then give them a chance

Aren’t Mcbernie and Robinson championship players ??
Agree Robinson is more a left sided winger
But neither are yet putting the work rate in and both look championship players (for now )
The player whose had most chances and created most chances is Mcgoldrick but some wanted him dropped before his injury
Agree with you about Mousset absolutely and looking at our striking options I would say our starting two is two from Bill McGoldrick Mousset with then Freeman ( Mcgoldrick option) Mcburnie Robinson from the bench

You do realise how many corners and balls we had into the box yesterday he won none ( especially in a 20 minute period in the first half when we had 7 or 8 corners )
He also had two chances in the second half but got mugged on both occasions 25 yards from goal and then spat his dummy out
The strikers need to be working the defenders more this will allow our midfield and wing backs options
Also twice in the second half Fleck was looking to whip it in but no one in the box to
Attack it so the ball was played across to Baldock
I still though think that theirs a decent player there we just need to be patient with him and nurture him

And to think we laughed at Wendy when they 'spunked' £10m on Rhodes?

Nuf said.
Sorry mate but that's a daft comparison McB has started what 5 games for us, whereas yon wanker at S6 was even too scared to take a penalty. Rhodes is total dogshit whereas McB will only get better he had no control over his fee and, he's only a babbi he'll get it reight mark my words.

That’s weird. Sky reckon we only had 7 corners all game.

Prices have doubled since then. We were buying a striker to play in the PL, they were buying a striker to play in the championship.

All our team were Championship players last year.

Reckon we’re 1, maybe 2, losses away from someone starting a ‘Toxic Oli’ thread. The likely culprits are already prepping their keyboards.

Hopefully the title is as hilarious as the “Oli Norgood” one. That worked out well for the poster didn’t it 😂

Needless to say if anyone in that situation wants a poster to repeatedly use a Toxic Oli nickname at every opportunity as he’s succeeding week by week as a gentle reminder to the original post, ad nauseum, I know someone that may be up to the challenge.

He's looked no worse than 40 million striker buys Kean at Everton and Joelinton at Toon, and although a midfielder imagine having paid 50 million for Fred.

I'm definitely not writing Mcburnie off, but, I do think we need to be trying other strike partnerships, as were now 8 games in, we should be atleast getting some good shots on target.
Robison seems to have gone off the boil, and Mcburnie doesn't seem to has the physicality in the box, so I'm not sure why Mousset, who has looked, by far the best signing we've made so far, isn't being given a start at the moment, same goes for Sharp, but with Sharp, he's been In this situation before, and seems to fight his way back in.
I think we miss Sharp as the skipper, he knows what it means, and would push us on, failing that, I'm still not sure who should wear the armband?, Egan maybe?? It's difficult to be fair, and we all know Wilder knows his shit, let's just hope we find our scoring boots soon.
