Try this then. Anything that doesn't meat with reality doesn't float my boat. Nothing about agendas, just reality. You obviously don't live there that often.
You’ve had a bit of a nightmare here and ended up looking thoroughly discredited. I should imagine that anything further you have to say on the subject will now be taken with a large pinch of salt. Maybe it’s time that you stopped digging.

For the avoidance of doubt, the reality is that the Protestant population of Derry is a quite small minority no matter how much you try to pretend otherwise.

I don't feel discredited at all. I have my beliefs. I have justified them to people who I don't really need to justify them to who have no first hand knowledge of the subject. I don't feel I have lost face. You may feel it necessary to shoot me down for that. Fill your boots. I happen think you and others are giving opinions on something you have no personal idea, experience or knowledge of.
This thread has become somewhat distorted but I am happy to run with it.

Glad I made you smile. Let me give you a little information that may make you consider your rather polarised view. The peace marchers on the day had dispersed and the Para's had not even been deployed at the point where the media chose to film/report the events. The only people left on the streets were the yobs who wanted a riot. The IRA coordinated this and it was a favoured tactic throughout the troubles. Kick off on the streets, draw the Army in and open fire.
The Para's were deployed when the rioters kicked off. When the gunmen engaged the unarmed riot squad they received an arse kicking from supporting troops.
The 'peaceful' protesters had long gone at this point. The people caught in the crossfire had the opportunity to leave. They chose not to but rather stand and throw rocks and petrol bombs. Look at the 'victims' of that day. Not many women, kid or elderly people. They had long gone before the contact began.

You are talking rubbish. Talk to to th majority of Londonderry people and the the city is Londonderry. Speak t to the minority republicans and and in would be 'derry'.
It always surprises me how many Brits know so little about the situation over there but claim to know so much.

I think I would edge towards believing the findings of an investigation that lasted 12 years (Saville Inquiry) and led to a public apology by the British Prime minister in the House of Commons rather than the opinion of North Riding Blade whose knowledge of Derry seems a little sketchy.

Thanks Slugger. The enquiry only lasted that long because, like all public enquiries these people need to justify their existence and need paying (from our taxes). They subsequently persecuted veterans through the courts and found.....nothing. So Slugger, join the line of the 'know nowt' do gooders on here and feel free to post your drivel. I'm sure you will be well received by ..... well somebody.

"Drivel" 😅
Here's a direct quote from Sheffield-born General Sir Michael Jackson who was there on that day when 14 unarmed British citizens were shot and killed. This is his exact words on what happened.

"I have no doubt that innocent people were shot"

Hey maybe he's wrong and you're correct?

Don’t wish to call your knowledge/ background into question North Riding Blade, but my family had lived in St Columb’s Wells, lived in William Street on 30/1/72 and were then moved to Rossville Street Flats, so I know my stuff, first hand.

You may well be one of the last people to genuinely believe 1 Para’s lies, but for the rest of us, and the British Government, there is no doubt that they went in on a rampage and killed innocent people, including children. Cameron told the Commons: "What happened on Bloody Sunday was both unjustified and unjustifiable. It was wrong."

If you still believe otherwise, can read the biographies of those murdered here:

And the fact that it took 38 years, until 2010 for the truth to come out is a stain on this country’s reputation for truth and honesty. So, to go back to the origin of this thread, that’s why James McClean refuses to wear a poppy, and it’s completely right for him to do so.

A solid feelings over facts argument here, respect for coming out and saying it plainly. Saves loads of time.
