No please dont Micky, we need defenders that will play not ones that get injured doing their laces up. IMO he's just a thieving bastard, gets injured just by breathing but still picks up his massive paycheck. We dont have much (if any) money, lets at least spend it on someone that has at least an average chance of remaining fit.

The guy is a stuck up prick with no time to help the younger lads out. Let the greasy haired nobber stay where he is.

Woodgate was supposed to be on his way to Cardiff, but maybe now they have Jon Parkin there he's afraid of becoming a snack for the rotund striker...

Here we are faced with the vague possibility of bringing one of the countries best centre halfs into the countries worst defence. A lad who has boasted over £30m of transfer fees. A player with much champions league and international experience. Somebody who has played for one the THE best teams on the planet.

Only on the parallel universe that is a SUFC internet forum could this possibly be seen as anything other than mouth watering.

:help:

Wouldn't mind having him, but only if we are paying <10k a week towards his wages. I suspect there will be other championship clubs that will pay more.

To be honest Presty, I think he's too injury prone. If we're getting someone in on loan would it make sense to use up one of those spots on someone we'd need cover for?

As Dirty Harry says, "He is one of the best centre-halves in the country if he is fit." If he is fit, he's playing in the Prem. If he's not, he's playing in the reserves. You said he's played for one of the best teams in the world, I assume you mean Real Madrid. He managed 9 games in 3 years. In his 12 year career, he's managed 231 games. That averages 19 games per season. I think we'd be better off paying someone who's going to get a game.

Apart from not liking him his apperance stats say - not worth the money.

On his day he's quality, he could be the best player in the world but if he's never fit he's as much use to us as Nyron!

We could go for the chronically crocked showpiece signing... or we could go for the three players that we actually need instead.

tottenham have been paying him the whole time he's been out, i can see them not wanting anything (or very little for him) redknapp (one of englands best managers and probably the fa's number 1 choice to succeed cappello) rates him as one of the best in the country in his position. if we signed him, all the doubters on this thread would be chuffed if we backed it up with a couple more signings.

If we were getting him on the very cheap, I don't see why not. As long as they didn't see it as an excuse not to sign 2 defenders of our own as well.

His legs have the same structural integrity as breadsticks. We may as well make a man from brandy snaps and crispbread and stick him in a shirt. Woodgate was good. But now he's more brittle than a discarded wank sock.

So did Paul McGrath's and he's probably the only defender I've seen in real life that I rate anywhere near as highly as Woodgate based on performances I've witnessed first hand (and yes I had a season ticket in the Premier League season so I have seen a few decent ones.

As long as we could cancel the loan if he got injured again or weren't paying a huge chunk of his wages I fail to see a downside to signing one of the best centre halves this country has produced in recent years.

Using McGrath as an example proves the point, though. He was tremendous. He was also finished after 12 games.

The obvious downside is putting all your eggs in one basket. If we were to sign Woodgate (and I don't think we will) it is likely, given his track record, that he would be injured sooner or later. And who would then play in his place? The same characters who have contributed to us picking up 1 point out of the last 4 games despite scoring 2 goals in each match. If we are picking up Woodgate you can bet no-one else will come in.

The defence is priority number one, no doubt about that, but we need someone who is not only better than what we have but also has an outside chance of being fit until May.

an ex leeds player made off stickle bricks no thanks and besides leeds want him the same has they want davies so we dont stand much chance of a look in

We have too many crippled players we dont need to loan in another.

So good job he is injured and we can atleast choose someone who is fit.

Yep I reckon he is on the verge of retiring tbh.
