Would you dare play this team against Fulham

He played on the wing against Brighton.
He did, but maybe that’s where the idea comes from. If he’s playing the right hand side of a midfield three it will allow him to get out wide because of how we play.

Our central midfielders that aren’t playing in the middle of the three are expected to do a lot more than a cm in just a standard 4 across the middle. This may complement his game.

Nope for a start Maguire is a box to box player and most certainly not a 10 brunt is your man for that and bogle would look lost RCM. Gordon is small and lightweight for a centreback so playing him in middle would likely be a mistake if he played it would have to be in Basham’s position. Hackford and Brewster are very similar types in terms of athleticism and that pairing up top would give us no chance in the air or in behind on the break.
Nice to talk about a few promising youngsters, just not right to throw them in at a time like this.
Introducing them to the squad is the right thing to do and Wilder has started doing this .Putting 2or 3 in together is not the way in a division full of international players who will prey on there inexperience. Nothing wrong with bringing one in at a time ! To put more in together will just make things worse easy does it is the way. We have two really gifted foreign players coming through ,I think they may get a chance soon but probably not together. I'm sure Wilder and his coaching staff will know when the times right.
Having a lifetime in the game gives them the knowledge or should do.

I'm seriously wondering why people so concerned about the 'kids' playing.

No way Jags can do 90 mins. They've all been offered pro contracts, are we saying they're not even going to get time in championship?

As the addage goes, if they're good enough they're old enough. Give Gordon a go in CD, give Hackford 60 mins up top. Put Maguire in for Norwood I say...

Can't do any worse anyway and they'd all be eager to impress. And if they get hammered well next season they drop down a league to continue to develop.

All pluses and little minuses to giving them a run in my honest opinion..

Didn’t Jags do 90 mins against Man U when we won?

Yeah fully agree I’d like them all to get minutes between now and the end of the season but to ask them to see it out from here would be too much.

Considering likely to be a Championship fixture next season anyway, with the final nail in the coffin now (and sandbags heaped on top) would anyone be comfortable if this lineup was picked?

Bonus: Gets rid of those 3 toxic midfielders (who i hope Wilder has called into a meeting already and told them they will never play for the Blades again)

Thank god we've got Chris Wilder.

The first choice team from now until end of season needs to be:

Ramsdale
Basham - Egan - Ampadu
Bogle - Norwood - Fleck - Stevens
McGoldrick
Brewster - McBurnie

1st reserves for each:

Foderingham
Rodwell - Jagielka - Bryan
Baldock - Lundstram - Osborn - Lowe
???
Burke - Sharp
We don't have any realistic alternative to McGoldrick in the hole.

No matter who it is, anyone is better than Norwood and lundstram both of whom only get a shirt as there is no other senior player. Put maguire or brunt in and tell them they have a free shot. Even if they give a goal away it is no worse than Norwood and working hard and occassionally pass it forward is an improvement on Lundstram.

This assumes that they are mentally tough, if not it could set them back.

Leave out the words”this team against “ in the title and you are nearer reality !
Knowing us we go there and win and relight the “ we might still stay up “ brigade

In Wilder's shoes I wouldn't play the youngsters from the start, but I would switch the formation for at least a few games to try and freshen things up. Maybe 4-4-2 with Baldock and Bogle down the right.
i like your thinking but it aint gonna happen chris is stubborn and hes not going to change this 352 formation

Why tarnish there fledgling career with a relegation on there cv

The team won't change from last night until they start drawing their old age pension (or Wilder does). Wilder doesn't seem too impressed with HIS team on the Beeb interview,
If we have that team start against Fulham we are not going to do too well, again.

There should be two forwards in front of Didzy.

Some changes elsewhere no doubt would be welcome. Maybe give Lundstram and Norwood a rest and possibly Stevens as well.

Who is the 3rd toxic midfielder after Norwood and Lundstram? If you you mean Fleck why would you describe him as toxic?

Was thinking the same. No argument with L & N
If he does mean Fleck then its bang out of order. Yes call him out for average/poor performances in the first half of the season, but to call the bloke "toxic" after everything he's done and achieved for the club in 4 years absolutely stinks. Very short memory.

Agreed

We all know anything like that is never going to happen in a million years....CW is too stubborn for starters...
He's only putting some of the academy lads on the bench to increase there Value, first offer and there out of the door, it's the Blades way.

I dont see why we cant play a least one U23 some of them look really class if you watch their matches. Other big teams do it including Leeds Utd. They also dont do wilderball either in the U23's and are direct and actually make runs into the box. Ok I know its not the PL but doing the basics in PL is no different to doing the basics in U23's and our first team cant do basics in PL and they have been there for longer than the U23's !

Would be interesting to give a midfielder and striker a go for 20 minutes in the 2nd half especially if we are doing the usual 2-0/3-0 down. Nothing to lose whatsoever. PL match time for the kids.

I think he's putting the Academy players on the bench for no other reason than to stick 2 fingers up to the board personally......

Fulham are going to bum us no matter what team we put out .

He can put his 2 fingers up all he wants, hes the reason our squad is a mess and imbalanced. simple as that. he needs to take some responsibility instead of blaming 'fine margins' and 'the premier league'. No reporter dares to call him out on it tho

Maybe Chris could register himself just to see how shit they really are.

As much as we are piss poor at present confidence and belief is a real problem. We seem to have given up. Yes we are down but for gods sake let’s go down fighting. We beat Man U the other week and no reason why we can’t beat Fulham.

What do you want him to do?

It doesn't matter what I want him to do but one week he selects 5 subs without a single academy player, the next it is a full bench with Academy players.....that's being done for a reason when he could quite easily fill the bench every week if he wanted.....blokes just being pig-headed.....and it is not fair on the young lads.....look at Hackford, gets on the bench v Palace, even comes on for 10 minutes and hasn't been seen since, not even making the bench against Plymouth fucking Argyle...then it was Kyron Gordon, then Illiam Ndaiye and now it's Frankie Maguire....

Correction, Wilder seems to have given up.....he made the team selection last night and substitutions and got it completely wrong, we could all see that it was crying out for pace yet he leaves the two players with just that in Burke and Brewster festering on the bench.....then in his post-match presser he just shrugs his fucking shoulders and comes out with the same old drivel like he couldn't give a flying fuck.

Oops should have read 2 midfielders and a certain LWB 😂

Yes, that was worrying for sure.

The OP mentions that the Fulham v Blades game will most likely be a Champ fixture next season. I wouldn't bet on that. I can see Fulham escaping and Newcastle taking their place for the drop. Normally I would have a smile on my face to see Newcastle drop down, but to be honest, they would then become red hot favourites to get back up again, making it all the more difficult for us to bounce back.
Regarding the introduction of fringe players, I can't see CW changing direction with his team selection apart from replacing the injured. It doesn't seem to be his style, although on this occasion I have to admit I don't agree with him. I would love to see some young fringe players breaking through and getting game time, but I can't see it happening.
Hope I'm proven wrong.
Yeah, I was half hoping we might get inspired by Fulham’s mini fight back, but alas not, Sadly we are just the disappointing football cliche, that everybody thought were......

Because if you play too many of them and they get destroyed it can ruin them for years to come. They need to be nurtured and thrown in at the right time.

For what it’s worth, I’d play 2, any 2 for the rest of the season and see who’s got a bit about them.

Kyron Gordon is a no brainer now Egan is out, and someone on the right hand side of midfield to get that Scouse charlatan wage thief out; Brunt, Ayari, NDiaye, Maguire - anyone.
There all good prospects and like you I want to see them.Throwing them in now wont work the gap between u23s and premiership is massive, the last thing we want is to push em in too early.
Nothing wrong with blooding them but not all at once they would get crushed.
There's time left this season to give some an opportunity not all together though.
Leave it to Wilder he does want to see home grown players come through! he has to balance that against the opposition completely overwhelming us which could happen with too many nieve kids on the pitch.
