Steady on. It's me he offended. *You* can't go around forgiving him. Jesus ;-)

Meanwhile Murphy is top of Division 2 and just played two full games. Maybe roygbiv could stir things up with a Brighton fans' view on what a bargain they've got.
Yes emotions were running high earlier so apologies for the insult, but I completely and utterly disagree. It is never the right move to sell your best player. It's why we are where we are.

It's not selling the best players that is the problem, the problem lies in the fact that we never ever adequately replace them or invest the cash into other areas of the squad.

Agree, the reality is that for every year we fail to get out of this league we're likely to lose one of our better players. No player wants to spend their peak playing years in L1.

But more astute teams would sign good young players, on their way up. Ambitious players with something to prove, not players dropping down, who are financially comfortable and are looking at a last pay-day before they finish their careers at a L2/Conference club near their home, or players with injury records that indicate they're made of glass.

Our scouting and recruitment is amateur and far too dependent on whichever manager is in charge. Over the last twenty years many clubs have become really well run businesses and have done things far more professionally than in the days when the manager was God and had total control over everything, meaning if you had a good one, you did well, if not you didn't. When clubs were run by local businessmen more concerned about entertaining their businessman mates and being a big shot in a small town, when winning wasn't everything.

Other clubs have progressed, we don't appear to have.
