And herein lies the problem. Some people will say we are in 5th place and others will say we are 5th in Division 3. Let's be honest no matter how rosey you want to paint it that's an inescapable fact.

We are only so many points of automatic promotion is another one, problem is that is always being said. It's never we are so many points clear of X, Y or X. Z. Also it's fair to say we aren't playing so well.

I can understand when someone says we are in a good position because in relative terms this season we are, but we don't look very comfortable and that's my issue. I think some people look at this season as the big opportunity. No big hitters in the league and we are all scrapping for the two places up for grabs. Next season you look at the teams in the bottom three and those around and you wonder how we would cope with another season down here.
It fucking does me in sometimes being in this position I'm not saying its acceptable but for me I've seen it before and I honestly believe we're going in the right direction under this manager.
He's brought in a tried and tested front man at this level and I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to tomorrow night .
Any blade who is content being in this league is demented.

Agree totally with that statement.

Won't somebody please think of the Children! See it your way that's fine but will you please stop patronising people just because they have an alternative view. Fans should have open forum to all views and be free to make their own minds up, in this place that is what they have. I understand from your posts you want some dictatorial right to only post positive ideals or say nothing.

Its a human condition for people the knee jerk, read the papers, watch the news, it happens. But don't disrespect the opinions of people who have as much right as you to think the way they do.

I utterly disagree with your standpoint but I would never tell you not to have it. Would you please stop enforcing your view over others as if it has more validity. If you think its bad here perhaps you should go elsewhere on the internet and see how dark some people really think over SUFC.
Sod that, it's the only reason I come on here. Witnessed some epic battles in the last couple of years.

no one wants to be in this league , but weve been here for our 4th season , , , weve not finished below 7th yet , but thats cold comfort when languishing in this division , but I honestly feel we have a great opportunity to finish the job of getting out under Clough.
Theres plenty of examples of failure to seize on , but all we can do is trust Nigels plan will succeed over the season , signs are ,hopefully its moving to a more possible positive outcome , being football thats all thats assured, as the ched incident proved it can go tits up due to unforseen circumstances

Going tits up? - just look over at Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool. Take Suarez and Sturridge out of that team and they are pretty poor.

As for NC, yes we do have to trust his plan for now. We are probably all in agreement that there have been some bizarre things since the summer, but if you look beyond the surface there is normally a reason and explanation.

What I will add, and this is for the "knockers" on here (and yes, valid reasons some of them fellas), Cloughs credit will eventually run out, but we MUST initially give him the backing that he deserves. The signs are promising, slower than some want, but promising.

I'll leave you with a thought for today - swapping places next season with our S6 neighbours - now that would be tits up for our porcine friends.

That just demonstrates how simple things should be, spend your last dime up front.

Different ball game for the opposition if they need to score twice before they can even consider getting a win.

Mind you we've got injuries in midfield covered.

O'Grady has " a niggle" and may not be risked. Hopefully the whole club will be lifted though.

Standing back from the euphoria, it really is a sign of how deep we are in the proverbial that the signing of a player like O'Grady has such a reception. I fear he will be under pressure the like of which he has not experienced before. Despite our position we are a "big club" and that brings pressure. At the massives O'Grady was a support player who made good. At Barnsley there is less pressure I suspect.

At BDTBL he is instantly the "main man" and could be the "messiah". I wish him well with all my heart. I cannot bear to think how far morale will drop if he flops.

Still remember that day in Leicester, 5-2, us up, them down - heaven on earth!

It also demonstrates that the 'you score 3, we'll score 4' philosophy isn't sustainable in the long term. It might be an old fashioned idea now, but build from the back forward still seems like a decent recipe for long-term success. It's the way Liverpool did it in the 70s and 80s and how Fergie sorted things at Man Utd. Those that put the ball in the net are always at a premiuim and always likely to be the ones you lose in the transfer market. I say plan for it and don't get caught with your pants down like Rodgers.

I think some of you take your comments and others on here too seriously
what people post on here matters not a jot in the grand scheme of things

Most people's opinions on here are pretty moderate

Go on Facebook or Twitter or Bladesmad and you will see some outrageous comments from.people that are far more representative of what I hear in the pubs and in the stands on match day

If someone posts something on here you don't agree with then fine debate it
but to just try and shut it down or denigrate their view because it doesn't match yours and try and paint it as harmful or destructive is basically bolloX

its about balance , and avoiding short term negativity, we drew a home game and some acted like wed lost 6-0 , a point could be what seperates 2nd from 3rd in may

I think some people take it all too seriously. When you look at this forum it's pretty moderate across the board compared to most. All this talk of clapper and slasher is exception rather than rule (even though some want to push it). We all want the same thing which is a win every week. When we don't get that some are more disappointed than others. It really is that simple. We all look at it differently but should all be big enough to have respect for the other point of view. Lets be honest in the grand scheme of shit it really doesn't matter a deal.

But some people are like that. Do you think you are going to argue them to change their mindset? Your in for a life of disappointment if you do. If I have learned one thing from my many years online, I love a heated debate (no shock there) but I don't expect in any shape or form to change a persons mind. If they don't expect to change mine either we can go at it hammer and tongues safe in the knowledge all that gets vented is a bit of steam.

Now theres a viewpoint we can agree on. The bloke needs to score quickly and get some goals under his belt otherwise the pressure may become unbearable. We have been searching for the next 20 goal a season striker for years now and every time the task gets bigger.

I want him to score a hattrick on debut and go on to be a roaring success for us, like every single one of the players who pulls on the shirt. Have to say his signing at least shows more intent and we have finally got one of the targets we were after so thats a positive.

if ive told you once not to exagerate ive told you a bazillion gillion times

Bloody hell Highbers, how can that possibly be?

This has been another belter. So far I've learned:

1. Don't take much notice of BTL if he starts with numbers (see post #62 where the last 40 seasons is made up of 5 in Div 1, 32 in Div 2, 8 in Div 3 and 1 in Div 4).
2. Judge is Warnock's love child and doesn't much care for where/who we are now.
3. Some people love to use 200 words where 5 are enough.
4. Bladesway isn't McCabes biggest fan and every time he mentions him that particular thread is going to go "off piste".
5. Anyone not liking a home draw in Div 3 actually thinks we should win every game 65-0 (that's SIXTY FIVE).
6. Anyone who mentions that Cloughy doesn't get everything 100% right is "slagging him off".
7. It IS possible for pigs to infiltrate this site but it takes a major effort to keep it up long enough to make it worthwhile.
8. To read 10 pages of this stuff you have WAY too much time on your hands (I've soaked it up gradually over the course of the week).
9. We're still in Division 3 but everything else that's gone before can be written off and no lessons are worth learning.
10. Tommy Tynan was a fat Wednesday cunt and not to be mixed up with Tony Towner (or Tiger to his mum).
11. Luke Beckett was a bit shit but better than not having ANY strikers.
12. Rodger Wylde was a boyhood Blade who went to "the darkside" and never returned.

I'm sure there's loads more to come!
