Correct. 1981-82. 29th August 1981. Division Four. 2-2 draw in first game. United back in proper stripes.

All got better when Keith Edwards re-joined us a bit later into the season.

Four league games with Hereford and four draws.

On back row of the upper tier at the Macron ( University of Bolton ) stadium on a Wet Tuesday night last year.
Like watching subbuteo players in the mist.

Goodison Park is shit ,behind the net years ago and in the corner of that wooden shed now. Maine Rd was crap ,under a floodlight in the corner ,losing , out of breath from running wiping the drizzle and blood out of your eyes.

This 'happy' memory has popped up on my Facebook memories page from five years ago. To quote the Golden Girls, picture it Shrewsbury Town away on a cold November day. Nigel Clough is now manager and there is optimism that things will improve after an awful start to the season. I arrive at the ground to find that my seat is behind the scoreboard, I hadn't noticed the 'restricted view' message on my ticket. To make things even worse, what must be the largest Blades fan in history is sat next to me, meaning that I am squashed up into half a seat. The bit of the game I can see, United are awful losing 2-0 and Fabian Brandy ruins his United career by picking up a stupid red card. To cap off the day, a Shrewsbury fan runs onto the pitch and a portly policeman falls flat onto his arse whilst trying to catch him. Thank you Facebook for reminding me of the day! What a miserable day that was. Non stop rain, blustery wind and a shocking performance (one of many)
Wasn’t that the game where the helicopter landed on the pitch before kick off then struggled to leave it because of the conditions?

It was, as part of the Remembrance commemorations that day. Maybe helecopters should be banned from football grounds given recent events.

Bury isn't great. It's below pitch level and feels like you're watching from a trench. It's even worse on a wet Tuesday night in the days of Nigel Adkins.

I remember going to Bury, sitting near the front row, on a foggy day, and we only started celebrating when we realised the players were coming back for a centre. Think Deano scored.
