It hit hard too. i remember his face dropped.
Interesting comments.
Seemingly not much abuse for anyone since about 2010.
Jebbo really touched a nerve didn't he?
Yes, Peter Withe scored and celebrated (I think in front of the Kop) which didn't go down well. The best I saw Withe play at Bramall Lane. I thought Wrigley did ok for us.Peter Withe / Steve Quigley - they were absolute garbage for us, sent out on loan to Birmingham, allowed to play against us, unbelievably, and fought like hell (something not seen from them at all) setting up and scoring the winning goals - our crowd fuming, giving them loads of stick.
Anyone remember this?! Mid/ early 80s
I must have been about 10 or 11.!
Gary Madine got a lot of stick when playing for Bolton, then scored in front of the Kop!Interesting comments.

I though crouch ball control was ok tbfYep - as I recall everytime he went near the ball the crowd shouted "Freak".
Quite honestly unacceptable behaviour from us for something that Crouch was unable to control.
That was awesome when TC took revengeAlan Ball
January 1970 - he said we were a glorified 3rd division club after we beat Everton 2-1 in the FA Cup 3rd round.
January 1972- we were losing 5-0 at home to Arsenal. He received the ball outside the box at the Lane End and carried on running with the ball not far from the John Street touchline. He had plenty of space with no opponent being near him and then he decided to sit on the ball for a second or two before looking to pass the ball to a team mate. I was a bit confused at what I had just seen so I looked at my dad asking him "what's happened there?". My dad glumly replied "He has just sat on the ball to taunt us!". Years later I was talking about the Alan Ball incident with my dad. He said Nip Hague (a big Blade from Dronfield who used to travel in the same coach as me to away matches) went berserk in the terraces and was about to climb over the railings to run on the pitch to confront Ball but Jimmy Beresford (from Unstone) grabbed hold of him and made him stay in the terraces.
October 1972 - We won 1-0. Alan Ball got sent off late in the game after receiving a 2nd booking for a foul on Trevor Hockey. The Lane crowd erupted with loud cheers and Ball responded with slow handclapping to all directions of the ground.
September 1973. We were winning 5-0. Unfortunately I missed the game as I was at boarding school. TC sat on the ball in front of Alan Ball and the crowd loved it!

Think there's a video of him racially abusing someone inside a casino.Because I don’t think Vardy has ever done much wrong except shithouse us because he’s a pig. I actually rate him as a player.
Ainsworth, shit player, shitter manager. Full weight fucking coward

Remember it anorl. Were bit wrong when ya think back. Especially when he fell or hoardings at front of Kop an everyone ran or pointing and shouting freakI was only a kid at the time, but that's stuck with me ever since as it didn't sit right with me.
Little did we know he'd become a bit of a legend, and a very likeable bloke. It feels even more wrong now.
Vardy or Ainsworth?Think there's a video of him racially abusing someone inside a casino.
VardyVardy or Ainsworth?
Genuinely didn’t know that. Fuck him too thenVardy
No, we won 2-0 I thinkThey beat us didnt they?
At the same time we had Birminghams keeper (Roger Hansbury) on loan and he played against them that nightYes, Peter Withe scored and celebrated (I think in front of the Kop) which didn't go down well. The best I saw Withe play at Bramall Lane. I thought Wrigley did ok for us.
Reg Brealey was furious with Billy McEwan and told him so after the match. At the same time we had Birminghams keeper (Roger Hansbury) on loan and he played against them that night
Fixed it mate"Stand up if HES shagged YOUR wife" no less was chanted.
I've always remembered that match against QPR in August 2011.
I remember Brian Deane getting abuse when he returned to Bramall Lane with Leeds. I joined in the booing ,which I now feel embarrassed about considering that he is a United legend.
Gareth ainsworth. End of discussion.Jebbo getting dogs abuse yesterday put me in mind to ask what's the worst reception you've ever heard for a single opposition player at the Lane?
One that sticks out in my mind from recent times is Marvin Sordell (deservedly) getting some proper stick when he returned to BDTBL for the first time after breaking Coutts' leg. All four sides absolutely hissing every time he had the ball.
Half a mind to exclude pigs/ex-pigs from the discussion but I won't because I'm nice like that!
