As some have said the list of awful players who could be nominated for this award is so long you would struggle to count on the fingers of every person who attends on match days.

Andy Barnsley was one of the most inept defenders ever.

Simmo may not have been the worst keeper but he was the worst number one choice for the longest.

Toss up between Jonathan Hunt and Conner Sammon as to who Looked least like a professional footballer.

That's just four off the top of my head.

One of the best saves I have ever seen came from Steve Simonsen, away at Newcastle. For that reason alone I can't have him in my worst of all time list but Connor Sammon is definitely a great shout! Jon Hunt was someone I had high hopes for and really dissapointed.

So many bad players over the years: Baxter, Ian Hamilton, Nick Montgomery, Michael Twiss, James Thomas, Jon Newby, Nigel Spackman, Bobby Ford and Iffy Onoura.

And you missed off Marlon King why exactly? Oh yeah and as I was taking a shit Ryan France sprang to mind. Can't think why.

Axel Smeets, Bruno Ribero, Lee Hendrie, Phil Thompson, Ian Rush and Peter Withe all deserve an honourless mention.

He wasn't even the worst player last season let alone ever. Woolford for example was worse. Probably Cuvelier too. Maybe even Sammon as well. It's just that he's seen as a symbol by many fans of Adkins' reign.

Anyone who thinks Hammond was the worst has a short memory. He was poor but there have been several others that make him look half decent by comparison.

Indeed. Think shreds1975 has been a bit harsh with his assessment – I suspect the recent nature, coupled with Hammond embodying the Adkins era, topped off with the activation of his contract, pushed it to the top.

Hammond, while mostly poor, had a handful of games that could be considered reasonable. There are plenty of players that played for us that were far crapper.
