I'll take a bet on Reed!...
I doubt that Reed will get much pitch time this season under Tufty ........ too lightweight for this Division

I'll take a bet on Reed!...
You see that's exactly my point ,what about the other 21 players used ,18 who played worse in my opinion ,why is it always about Coutts ? It doesn't matter what he does ,myopic blades have their mind made up and he has no chance here ,which is a shame because we don't see many players with genuine football talent. He will be best leaving so he can show someone else actual football ability ,while we will wank ourselves off because a player has some 'urgency'. Then again we couldn't get rid of Doyle quick enough either so I don't really know what we want in division 3.
I think the reasons why Coutts gets more stick than others could be due to the following:
I could go on, but I wouldn't want to bore everybody, again.
- It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume he's one of the better paid players in the squad (my guess would be top 5 highest earners) Do we get our money's worth?
- Maybe it's his lack of pace, but he often appears lethargic and uninterested, something unforgivable in many blades eyes.
- Other than some good ball control and the ability to pick a pass there's very little evidence to show his "genuine football talent"
- His goal scoring record is about as embarrassing as his successful tackles record.
Apart from the first bullet point you could be describing (well, flattering actually) Little Louis. People are, I think, becoming less and less beguiled by the irrelevant England infants appearances and coming to the uncomfortable realisation that he's not very good. But he's a Blade and wasn't signed by Clough and he's only young, so it remains unspoken.

First touch. Takes him into trouble when it needs to take him away. If you're not tall you either need to be solid as fuck or skillful enough to move away from your opponent as you control the ball. I've noticed he often gets caught like that. While I agree and have my doubts about Reed, he's young enough to develop his game to offer something more going forward by getting into goal scoring positions, and being a bit more adventurous.
If I was to place a bet though, unfortunately I would probably guess that his career will be L1 or lower. Hope it isn't as I like to see young blades do well, but a harsh reality

Myopic Blades? You are in a club of about 5 fans who rate him. Wilder himself isn't for coaxing any ability out of him . He put him straight in the list. However, if the ability is there, and it is, I'm all for Wilder coaxing the rest of the ingredients from him, we shall see.

Maybe part of the plan ehWilder himself isn't for coaxing any ability out of him . He put him straight in the list.

I think the ball is well and truly in Coutts hands at the moment.
What about that Jeremy Corbyn bloke, he's currently available I believe.Need a left winger not one decent one at the club

Only 18 and a season almost totally frozen out by Adkins giving him no real consistent game time and not allowing him out on loan, I'd say most players in that situation would regress. Football is all about confidence, I'd say looking at Reed that he totally lacks confidence at the moment often playing the easy pass and not getting on the ball enough. He also needs to learn to track his man irrespective of what's going on around him (Crewe and Halifax). Hopefully Wilder can get him back playing like he did against Southampton, Tottenham, and QPR in a more advanced position because I don't think he's ready to play as a midfield two. He has the talent and seems to have filled out enough to be stronger on and off the ball, lets hope he gets the chance and takes itLouis Reed has definitely regressed

It's up to him to earn the chance. It's the hard world of professional football, not the X Factor.
He's not good enough. He'll join the rest of the Golden Generation in non-league.
Givimarun. Givemallarun.
Wilder and Knill kept holding his head under the water and whispering something. He's still about, saw him at Ponds Forge with DCL earlier in the pool.
Brentford have done exactly that and they had one of the best academies in the south east. Benham got sick of losing 16-18 yr olds for peanuts to the bigger teams after investing in the kids for 10 yrs. They are now going to bring in the 16-18 tr old cast offs from Chelsea et al and hope to pick up a diamond whilst saving millions per year in academy running costs.Putting Reed to one side for a minute , as he is clearly is not good enough to get a established spot in a side that wants to be chasing promotion . I would also say the same about DCL.
Does the club decide to cut its losses and get rid of the academy as we are not producing enough to merit a profit or one or two lads to become long term first teamers .
No idea with this , except this pathway business propaganda , will not get us promoted but more like into a relegation battle .
We ain't got any youngsters coming through the system who are good enough . I know we go on about infrastructure and planning , but it's short term policy for me , and buying in raw talent .

Coutts' problems are hard to overcome at this level where Football can be quite frantic:
You've got to be some player to be accommodated by a manager who wants to play high tempo and to get goals from all areas.
- He's slow
- He doesn't score goals
To score none from attacking midfield would be unforgivable. If we play a variation of 4-2-3-1 then each of that 3 has to be getting 8-10 goals if we're going to do anything.
Done can. Adams can. Duffy can.
Coutts cannot. And he's not got the fitness, robustness against injuries or competitiveness to play in the middle two.
A team he'd be ok in would be playing 3 in centre mid where his failings can be accommodated or a team from the 1970s where the pace of the game was more languid. Would Currie have had the time and space nowadays to have scored his "quality goal"? He'd have simply been crowded out on the modern game.

Doesn't bode well for the future though if 'everyone' does it !

Even the much-maligned Hammond managed to bag two goals for us, and he wasn't even with us for a full season (and, obviously, was extremely limited). But have faith, Coutts very nearly got a goal in a meaningless pre-season friendly once.
Both Hammond's goals were headers though - has Coutts ever headed the ball??
