Kept this off general blades chat to save on abuse, for both him and me.

Not got a rumour but more chasing information. I've not seen his name on any pre season team sheet but heard nothing about what is happening with him.

Training with the kids?
Training on his own?
A key part of wilder's plans but just not unleashed yet?

Coutts can play football. woeford can just about stand on 2 feet.

There is no difference and both were put on the transfer list for a reason. Coutts is obviously doing his training thing and wilder thinks he can make something of him. He's wrong, so are we going to make coutts this years friendly wager?

There is a huge difference ,and no one wants to mention it but he had our best effort the other night and was the instigator of the next best effort but he wont get a break no matter how well he plays because people have already made their mind up.

I'll take a bet on Reed!...

I know. I've been on here too long. I've contracted a rare and serious condition called ITK Syndrome. I'll be shamelessly tweeting local hacks all over the land before we know where we are....and asking for a tug from other members' wives....

Oh. Hang on,..it's alright this ITK stuff, isn't it?...

Any happenings before the week-end mate? Not looking for names.
Don`t know mate, Wilder said 2 before we go to Grimsby which is looking unlikely now isn`t it.

Obviously one of the targets is Leon Clarke, the other a centre half, and maybe a kid from the Premier league on loan, but that will be later in the window.

He was the instigator in the 2nd best effort in a 2-0 loss at Halifax, get out the bunting! There really isn't a huge difference between him and Woolfrod, because at the end of the day both of their end products equals nothing. I wouldn't say I have had my mind made up, because I can see the player in him, however he obviously can't himself. You can't teach urgency and the lad doesn't have it.

He really needs to earn his own break now

You see that's exactly my point ,what about the other 21 players used ,18 who played worse in my opinion ,why is it always about Coutts ? It doesn't matter what he does ,myopic blades have their mind made up and he has no chance here ,which is a shame because we don't see many players with genuine football talent. He will be best leaving so he can show someone else actual football ability ,while we will wank ourselves off because a player has some 'urgency'. Then again we couldn't get rid of Doyle quick enough either so I don't really know what we want in division 3.

Why is always about Coutts? Because he has very rarely, if every had a good day. He is the one with something to prove considering he is still on the transfer list, more than the other 10 players who started. As repeated numerous times, I would love him to succeed, but he won't. How many managers does this guy need before he finds one who can get something out of him. We really need someone with Coutts ability but has heart to go alongside Fleck.

I was a huge critic of Coutts last season, not from an ability point of view because he has more than his fair share, but his heart, attitude and all round contribution was in the main, abysmal.
However, if the ability is there, and it is, I'm all for Wilder coaxing the rest of the ingredients from him, we shall see.
He is without doubt the most talented player on our books (fuck me!) and any comparisons between him and Woolford are futile. There is a chance with Coutts, Woolford needs to learn a new trade I'm afraid.

Which poster with myopia commented last summer that "Mark Howard is ten times the keeper George Long is or ever will be"?
I don't rate George Long at all ,I think he costs us a lot of points and yes I do think Howard is a better keeper ,but I don't scapegoat and ridicule him every game and will praise if he has a good game. Something Coutts haters refuse to do. For what its worth I don't think either will be here at Xmas.

Long showed last season that he was the least worst of the two as the players finished the season. That's why Long remains while Howard was an easy decision to let go. I try and be as fair and open-minded on all our players. It is entirely possible that Coutts could succeed next season, but in my view the likelihood of that is only marginally higher than James Wallace managing to feature in a third of our games. The sort of optimism I see you describe Coutts with is the same I can recall given to Howard and Bob Harris last season. They aren't being kept on for a reason.

I think Howard was a stronger keeper than Long ,both were badly managed by the dick we had in charge ,but a goalkeeper has to be vocal and a strong presence. Long hasn't got it in him and don't think its something that can be taught ,I also think his decision making is poor and distribution awful. Good shot stopper but that's not enough for this level.

I’ll give Coutts credit where it’s due. It was due for about 4 weeks leading up to the Man U game. That’s the only period during his 18 months at the club where I’ve seen him put together back to back good performances. I think his problems are largely attitude related. If he sorted that out, he could be useful but it seems unlikely that he will at his age.

IF (and it’s a fucking enormous if) he sorted his attitude out and was willing to graft for the team and if we don’t bring in a new winger, I’d consider playing him on the right with Duffy on the left although with what we have right now, I’d be more inclined to play Duffy down the right and Adams down the left though I reckon he’ll be off soon.

Woolford does seem like a trier to me. I’m just amazed based on his apparent lack of ability that he’s managed to have a career which has seen him play in the championship quite a bit. Seems to lack touch, pace, agility, nous etc.

Went to see the Benfica game the other night. The porkers played Kean in goal, fucking hell it was like he'd swapped boots over. Worst distribution on a keeper I'd ever seen.
