Why has the Wolves game been moved?

Just for some silly idea that we'd like it at 1:25 for the 125 year anniversary or is it a police thing?

What a daft time for the footy I hate it when they do stupid things like this.

Come on Ted, it's all on the OS...

The Blades will begin its 125 year anniversary celebrations with a 1.25pm kick-off against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The date of the fixture - Saturday 22nd March - is the actual day that the Blades were formed in 1889.

Following South Yorkshire Police's request that the kick-off time of the fixture be brought forward from the usual 3pm slot and after discussions with both the Police and Wolves, the game will kick-off at 1.25pm as an acknowledgement to the 125 years.

United's Managing Director, Mal Brannigan, commented: "We would like to sincerely thank South Yorkshire Police and Wolverhampton Wanderers for their help in allowing us to kick-off at 1.25pm. When we were asked to bring the game forward we thought this would be a good idea to tailor the kick-off time to help us begin what will be significant year in the Club's history.

"Sheffield United remain tremendously proud of our heritage. The game will kick-off a year-long celebration of the anniversary of the Blades and more details will follow in due course."

In true Brownie bollox style - I heard there was free beer :D

I remember the 100th anniv game vs Reading at home
Won 1-0 shit game
First time I sat in the BLUT
Reading were a shite team then as well
Damp squibb then but maybe the Prince will make this one into a party

I never read the OS its a complete waste of time and everything's hidden behind loads of crap. Much quicker to ask the question on here and get one of you lot to do the donkey work for me ;)

Whys the Wolves game a high risk game though, dont remember it ever being before. Is it just a McDonald thing?

Ithink there are more hooligan morons in the so called black country than in the rest of the uk put together. I have a deep aversion to wba and wolves

Reading that it appears to me that it was SYP that requested the time change. We then decided to make it 1.25 to coincide with the anniversary.

Presumably we are only going to be charging £1.25 to get in as well.

No?

Thought not...

Stupid idea really. Wearing a special shirt fair enough, but kicking off at a time which contains the same numbers as the birthday we're celebrating? Cringe.

Does it matter ?if SYP insisted on an early kick off why not tie it in to a bit of marketing.

Seems to be low down on the list of things to have a pop of the club about

How often do we KO at 3.00 on the dot? My guess is that more often than not, its 2.59, 3.01, 3.02 etc. In other words, will we actually KO at 1.25?

Not having a go at the club for it but it's just meaningless. A souvenir programme or a special shirt is something they can properly market, people can keep as a memento, and the club can make money from it. I just don't see how a daft KO time can in any way be deemed a celebration of our 125th birthday.

Take it everyone moaning about the club making it 1:25 would've preferred it to have been 11:30 like SYPD no doubt wanted.

Trying not to think this isn't just the police being a bit spiteful after the Forest game. Struggling.

FFS Any reason to have a moan or a dig at the club. Its an hour and 35 minutes before usual KO just go to the boozer earlier.

Ted I don't know you mate but I struggle to comprehend your intelligence on this debate. You don't understand the concept of 125-years, thats strange.
And you don't think the match with the 2nd biggest team in the league along with us is high risk, you have obviously never been involved in hooliganism, thats to be applauded I agree, but SYP know the history and why it's high risk.

Bob, I struggle to comprehend your intelligence when you make that assumption, why would I not understand a completely meaningless anniversary or the concept of 125 years?

My argument is that Ive got an hour and a half less to sleep off my hangover before going to the pub and lots of the people I normally go with will still be working and so cant make it, that seems like enough reason to moan. I may not have been involved in hooliganism but I have been to see SUFC V Wolves many times and never remember them having an early kick off. Which suggests to me that the only reason theyve made it earlier is for some stupid marketing gimmick.

So when was the last time they moved the KO for this game if theres so much 'history' and when was the last time there was loads of trouble from Wolves at Bramall Lane, I honestly cant remember any?

Given the reaction to the unusual kick-off time, I can't wait for the meltdown when its announced what colours they are playing in:confused:
