Interesting to see how CW approaches the remaining games, we clearly need to improve form and performances but some of the players look dead on their feet. I’d be looking to do the following:-

  • Get Holding some more game time instead of Robinson, the latter seems to be dropping performance levels and despite the witch-hunt for CW, he got a bit daft in the tunnel by the (limited looks of things).
  • Give Ryan One some time off the subs bench; he looked effective in his cameos and offers us that physicality and pace which Campbell shares.
  • Resolve the front three - whether it’s playing JRS more on the left again, or moving it all around more.
  • Try and make sure Souza is fit for the playoffs; even if that means a bespoke program (“mini pre-season”) over the next month so he’s ready.
CBA with the reductive CW bashing - there’s enough threads for that; genuinely interested in some constructive discussion rather than trying to tear the whole thing down. Any thoughts?

The dichotomy is that many of the players we would all agree need to be fit and firing for the play-offs - Hamer/ Souza/Campbell to name but three - all need standing down for a couple of weeks. So how do we resolve the issues of total disconnect between the lines/look at a better formation ( I would have said the squad is better suited to 3--5-2 until JLT had his meltdown) whilst doing so without our better players?

Rest the likes of Hamer , Peck , Campbell , Souza - play Moore and Cannon as a partnership -play Brooks and R/S on wings - Hamser and if possible Tom Davies in midfield plus Holding .

But WTF do I know - other than we need much much more pace and get it into the box quicker and more often

I think Brooks and Davies are both decent shouts. Would be good if Brooks got into some decent form, he’s quality when on it. The latter is much underrated for ball progression, but I thought he picked up another injury?

Good thread

I said yesterday nothing to lose now is there?

Try Brooks and JRS together, give Holding and Anel some games together get T Davies involved

Get Campbell fit enough to play 90

Send Cannon to play with kids

The problem with resting key players now and starting them in the play offs is that we're more likely to continue losing without them. By the time the play offs start they'll be rejoining a team whose confidence will be rock bottom.

As for approaching the Burnley game. I won't be driving but I believe it will be the M18 skirting Wakefield and Huddersfield en route.

Make us defensively tough, stop the rot.

Even if get some 0-0's.. if we can get confidence back in not conceding in the majority of our remaining games and going into the playoffs undefeated from here and not conceding many, we just may go into the playoffs with a bit of confidence and a chance.

Well I'm glad I'm kinda done for rest of the season. End of daylight saving means our next games ko at 2.30am (next two) and 5am (Stoke) here. Maybe a blessing in disguise to check the scores as I wakeup. Effin shame as the Burnley game could have meant something but we'll probably get bummed 5 nil now.

Burrows and Hamer need abit of time out I think they both seem jaded same for Pack he must be absolutely knackered! Protect Campbell and play Cannon just to try and get him a goal for confidence by some absolute miracle. Alternate JRS and Brooks on the right like the start of the season why did that even stop?

Would hope CW goes into training today and just picked his starting 11 for Cardiff right now, and spends five days (including today) exclusively training that starting 11 on how he plans to play against Cardiff.

In his interview post pigs game, he admitted that he had picked the starting 11 for the pigs game before we played Bristol City on that Tuesday night, which is why Holding (who had a good game against City) didn't start against pigs.

I wouldn't mind something like that again, take a gamble and pick the starting 11 now (maybe for both Cardiff and Burnley) and just train them into how he wants to play in those 2 games.

I wouldn't mind seeing Oné have a chance again, but not until we can mathematically secure 3rd place, while I don't think Sunderland will catch us (they've had 2 months to catch us and haven't), I'd want the position secure before we give minutes to fringe players.

Maybe for the Stoke and Blackburn games (Stoke might be safe by then), I'd look at getting some minutes for Oné, maybe even some minutes for Baptiste and Blacker as well.
