A frustratingly indifferent display today. Wolves weren't good but were easily better than we were.
One of my fav players but I can't defend McGoldrick today, those misses would be embarrassing in a Sunday morning pub team game, and that folks is why he is at SUFC!!!!!.
Foderingham - Oh Dear!!!!

Still, it's been a run out and hopefully it has blown a few cobwebs and rustiness off for the lads!.
We move on.
UTB

Key decisions, errors and defensive mistakes cost us really, not sure Billy’s goal should have been disallowed, the defender stopped to try and head it
They have some top quality players to be fair, but still all a bit disappointing in the end

Shop window for the Jan sales. Hecky must be pragmatic. We can’t win it and have a raft of games to catch up. Thought we looked very good for 70 minutes. Hopefully the last we’ll see of Berge, Burke and Robinson
So you would rather have Norwood or fleck in the middle than Berge ?

Tiny bit of focus in key moments and it could have been so different.
Its not just a tiny bit of focus though is it? For the last 2 years our finishing has been woeful, we are still waiting for the focus to improve. Yet every game its Didz and Sharp starting up front yet again. Every game big chances get missed in the first half. Dominate games and fail to score. It was Didz today, Sharp against Fulham. Always will be up against it then as the defence for most of the season can't keep a clean sheet.
Let's see if Hecky can manage to improve our attacking, I seriously doubt it. Let's face it we need better players up front.

How did kyron Gordon play? I didn’t get to watch but I heard his interview and I just love him. Adequate back up?

Probably the most assured of the 3. Robinson costs us another goal and Bash had a pretty poor game.
Definitely needs some loan football and some time in the gym but I think despite letting 3 in he can go to bed pleased he was the best of the back 4 (3cb and GK)

Go and Bury your head somewhere Fallowfield. Wes has done nothing wrong in the league since he took over. Rusty that's all it's down too.

He hasn’t had that much to do and has done well when asked but I don’t trust him but have given him the benefit of the doubt

He’s a bomb scare with ball at his feet and today shows he’s a mistake waiting to happen

Nope, I’d replace him. Never seen a guy that size so weak in the tackle. Way to slow and lacking in bite. Undoubtedly has talent but totally unsuited to our club.

Which club would he suit? Midfielders usually bring something to the table, either offensively or defensively. No one seems to know what Berge's role actually is.

But the alternatives are even worse!

A team in clear need of new signings however board have other ideas. Regardless of where we are in the table I still can’t see us getting promoted. Freeman and Osborn evidently shows they’re not good enough. McGoldrick…how many times do we go on this forum and talk about his misses time and time again

Match ratings

Wes 4 Glad he got his howler out the way in the cup. Was an absolute stinker though.

Bogle 7 Excellent footballer, love watching him play. One of the best attackers at the club.

Basham 5 Not his best

Gordon 5 Send on loan, need to sign some genuine cover for Egan

Robinson 1 Car crash of a signing. Don’t be fooled by the Fulham performance, he was part of a solid defensive unit that night and did what you’d expect of a championship defender.

Never want to see him play for us again, for Christ’s sake how many big goals has he cost us this season?

Highlight of the game was him going off at half time. Terrible player

RND 7
Happy enough with that, an improvement on Steven’s and would definitely have him over Robinson at LCB

Berge 6.5
Looked classy on the ball, didn’t have too much to work with around him.

Hourihane 6
Tidy enough performance, couple of disappointing crosses but always looking to be positive with the ball

Osborn 4.5
Usually a big fan tbh but today was a weak performance by his standards. Think he’s generally underrated, but not today

Didz 4
Missed a golden chance and should’ve at least got a perfectly straightforward free header on goal.

I didn’t even get excited when the ball dropped at his feet in front of goal tbh.

Sharp 6.5
Did well with what he had, such a clever player and looks in good shape. Reckon he’ll still be around in 3 years and keep going at a good level a la Kevin Phillips

Subs:

Freeman 3 Atrocious, another crap signing

Burke 7 Played well, gave us an outlet and put in an excellent cross for Sharp

N’Diaye - One bad cross, not enough minutes though. A good player who should’ve been on much earlier

Norwood - Not sure he touched it

A missed opportunity today? Or a missed opportunity 18 months ago?
18 months ago - today is just a symptom of the royal balls up and Hecky has a real challenge on his hands - talk of promotion this season is so very wide of the mark IMO - especially now with game backlog and most very probably no help this month in the transfer market.

You could cry to be honest .

ill say this about wolves. they are a good team weve known that for many years & its very possible if some of big guns drop out. they could like Leicester be in the final or win

its a shame, because for 70+ mins we compete great v very strong wolves team. that had few changes that beat man utd & but for fine margins sharp goal wasnt softly disallowed, was a travesty & if robinson hadnt handed it on a plate. we couldve been 0-0 going into late stages. i think we got to investigate Robinson for match fixing thats the 4th time he's laid it on a plate for the opposition attacker

Thought we competed well for long periods, considering the side we had available. Just a shame to gift them two soft goals.

I'm Sorry Fallowfield but I just can't agree with you

Has Didzy ever started a game and not missed at least one sitter? He used to make up for his poor finishing with other parts of his game but I think age has caught up with him and he’s no longer good enough.

I'm glad we are out of the cup, we can catch up on the million games in hand we have to complete in the league.

I guess everyone keeps talking about an Arsenal type outfit. Certainly one where he won’t be expected to tackle. The non-contact form of football played in the worlds highest leagues might be the answer?

Disagree mate , the guy is nowhere near match fit and badly needs a run of games … by far our best player !
Can’t disagree about his fitness but I can’t remember him ever looking like he had the level of fitness required to play in England?
