For all the bollocks they comes out with regards restructuring and being a League One club, I reckon the club still have grand ideas about the stature of Sheffield United and the fact that both KR and SMcC have both turned down the job may have surprised Winter and his cronies..
If you look at it seriously and without the red and white speks on, the club currently has:
1. NO money for transfers or wages.
2. Ever decreasing attendances
3. A very demoralised fan base
4. A squad full of high wage earners over 30 with no real ability and no way to move them on
5. An owner who has given up
6. A football club board that is actively trying to shrink the club but demanding promotion at the same time.
7. No back room staff apart from Chris Morgan who must be involved next season because the owner made a promise to him.
Would you leave another job for that? The only candidates are going to be those who are currently unemployed or Chris Morgan.
I hope the board read the forums as it clear as day that if Morgan is appointed then the gates will drop to season ticket holders only and the walk up numbers will dissapear. It would be even worse if the club did season ticket refunds, but for some reason they don't.
I saw on here someone ask what the odds are on Sheffield United being the first "big" club to go bust or end up in the conference, I too would like the odds on that as I think a £10 might be worth it.
A few points to raise on this
1. How do you know KR has turned us down? No statement from him,his agent or MK Dons. Just comments on twitter.
2.Of course we have money for wages. We wouldn't have a club otherwise and we will be in the top 5 for wages next season As for transfer funds? I suspect only the relegated clubs and possibly The Millers or the Gills might spend some money. There are no big transfer fees in L1 normally.
3.Totally agree, All the fault of the owner but who will buy the club? I still can't see McCabe taking a cut on his debt despite him now having security of the land (i cannot understand why this question wasn't asked at the nHandsworth forum)
4. Higginbotton,Robson and Kitson are now gone all of whom would be in the top earners bracket. Plus LJF and Coyne will go. Don't forget that the amount we spend on turnover needs to reduce by 5% this season so unless we get decent sponsorship,we need to expect Kmac and possibly McMahon to leave to ive us some flexibility
5. I don't think the owner has given up,I just don't think he has a clue what to do.
6. We have to shrink the club. We are in L1
7. Clearing the backroom staff is right,it gives the new manager more flexibility to bring in his own staff. He can't let Morgan go in case no one else wants the manager's job ?
8. What is this promise that has been made to Morgan ? Do you know something we don't. If Morgan is under contract we won't sack him as we won't be able to afford the compensation unless the new manager is prepared to take a cut in his budget. Surely that is obvious.
9. According to a lady in the ticket office I spoke to on Thursday, we are about 1,000 behind this time last year. Remarkabe loyalty from the fans considering what has been happening to the club.
10. The board will not read these forums or any other ones in my opinion. If I was in charge I wouldn't.
11. We owe money to one person. Unless McCabe goes bust,we won't. However, the fact he has seperated the football club and left them with no assets means that should he go bust we we go into admin,we should be quite cheap to buy. However,I don't think he is anywhere near going bust but he will only subsiduise to a bare minimum. Expect more cost cutting
12. We are not a big club as far as the football world in this country is concerned. We need to wipe the slate clean at the club, try and find a new owner and start aain hopefully without getting related.
Whoever the new manager is next season needs to be given patience and time whoever it is. It might be someone none of us are keen on but the decision may be inspired.I don't think the club has grand ideas about the club anymore which is why they are trying to re-structure. Unfortunately,McCall appears to not have the heart to start the process. We wants a manager who will grasp the job and deal with the issues and not moan about his hands been tied.
If we finish in the top six next season i will be pleasantly surprised
