....not something we do that often - in fact, before this season only 9 times in the last fifty years:

1965-66
1969-70
1971-72
1980-81
1983-84
1985-86
1988-89
1989-90
2005-06.

Interesting that 4 of those seasons were in a 7 year period in the mid to late 80's and people will note that the last 3 times we did it we got promotion (and managed to get relegated in 1980-81!).

We got 3rd wins in 1969-70, 1971-72, 1980-81 and 1983-84 and went on to a 4th win in 1971-72. Our record number of wins from the start of the season is 8 in 1903-04.

1971-72 was a remarkable season.

In the 1st Division - 8 wins and two draws in the first ten games. Top of the league. Didn't lose until 2nd October (against Man Utd.)
Then injuries took their toll (including a broken leg for Trevor Hockey), confidence waned and they finished the season in 10th place.

Having thought about this, winning twice in the first 2 games 9 times over the past fifty seasons is roughly what you would expect, given there are 6 possible combinations of outcomes for the first two games. For the record, the number of times we have had each outcome in those fifty years is as follows:

WL 14
DL 12
WW 9
LL 5
WD 5
DD 5

Too much time on your hands Darren.

Don't you have some looters to defend?

It took me 5 minutes to work that out and, as it happens, I do very little criminal defence work now.

My involvement will come when those "looters" wrongfully arrested start taking action...

Or those that perceive a legal loop hole they can exploit to get off and claim compo eh Dazzler?
Do you get a chance to assess the validity and/or morality of any potential appeal or is it based on £££££?

Of course, I assess the validity and morality of any claims. What's the point of bringing claims that won't stand up in Court?

I am sure you do Darren. With your memory and attention to detail I am sure they get a thorough assessment before you take any case on.
My comment was a general one as there are often cases we hear about that don't stand up in court.
Then there are the one's that we read about that get off on a technicality when it appears they should be convicted but they walk.
